Preliminary design for a standard 10 sup 7 bit Solid State Memory (SSM)

A modular concept with three separate modules roughly separating bubble domain technology, control logic technology, and power supply technology was employed. These modules were respectively the standard memory module (SMM), the data control unit (DCU), and power supply module (PSM). The storage medium was provided by bubble domain chips organized into memory cells. These cells and the circuitry for parallel data access to the cells make up the SMM. The DCU provides a flexible serial data interface to the SMM. The PSM provides adequate power to enable one DCU and one SMM to operate simultaneously at the maximum data rate. The SSM was designed to handle asynchronous data rates from dc to 1.024 Mbs with a bit error rate less than 1 error in 10 to the eight power bits. Two versions of the SSM, a serial data memory and a dual parallel data memory were specified using the standard modules. The SSM specification includes requirements for radiation hardness, temperature and mechanical environments, dc magnetic field emission and susceptibility, electromagnetic compatibility, and reliability

Systematic Human Relations Training and Resident Assistant Effectiveness

Systematic human relations training has been shown to be an effective method for training both by lay and professional counselors. However, its usefulness for resident assistants in a residence hall setting has been sparsely documented. The purpose of this study is twofold: (1) to reaffirm existing evidence that a systematic human relations training program can make a group of resident assistants more effective helper and (2) to determine whether this change in effectiveness can be detected in the immediate environment for the resident assistant, that being his res residents and supervisor. In order to establish the first objective, resident assistants who received the training were asked to respond to client stimuli expressions. The responses were rated and compared to responses of resident assistants who did not undergo training. In pursuance of the second objective, evaluations presently being used in a residence hall system were administered before and after training. These were compared for the two groups. In addition, the frequency and duration of resident assistants\u27 contacts with residents were analyzed during the course of the training. The subjects in this study were two groups of seven resident assistants that were selected from four residence halls. The experimental and control groups were matched according to number, sex, and residence hall. The data supported existing evidence that systematic human relations training can significantly improve the level of functioning of a resident assistant helper. However, no significant transfer of this improvement into the resident assistant\u27s environment was suggested by resident assistant evaluations or by contact frequency and duration data

William Faulkner and The Southern Gentleman

The purpose of this study has been to demonstrate that a broad concept of the Southern Gentleman is implicit in Faulkner’s pre-Snopesian male characters. The fundamental assumption carried through the study has been that the only common denominator which can successfully be used to relate the highly legendary and relatively intangible concept of the Southern Gentleman to the historical tradition of gentility is the idea of excellence. The superior men of the short-lived Old South were the gentlemen of the Old South, regardless of whether their superiority lay in an embodiment of the puritanical and pioneer values the South appreciated or in the more universal moral values which have evolved in Western civilization

Creditors Have Standing to Bring Derivative Actions Against Delaware LLCs in Bankruptcy

(Excerpt) Delaware limited liability companies ( LLCs ) are creatures of contract and their corporate structure may vary to resemble corporations, partnerships, or a mix of both. Managers of LLCs—like a director or officer of a corporation—owe fiduciary duties to the entity and its members. Generally, the entity has standing to pursue breach of fiduciary duty claims. It is well established that creditors of a corporate debtor may have standing to pursue breach of fiduciary duty claims against directors through derivative actions. Under Delaware law, the applicable statute does not confer standing for creditors of Delaware LLCs to bring derivative actions on an LLCs behalf. Delaware courts have generally concluded that creditors cannot pursue breach of fiduciary duty claims against LLCs. One Delaware bankruptcy court, however, disagrees. This memorandum analyzes standing for creditors of Delaware LLCs bringing derivative actions in Delaware bankruptcy courts. Part I of this memorandum explains the pertinent provisions of Delaware Law. Part II explains that creditors of Delaware LLCs are precluded from bringing derivative claims. Part III explains Delaware bankruptcy courts’ application of Delaware state law and their conclusion that creditors do not have derivative standing in bankruptcy cases. Part IV discusses the decision by one Delaware bankruptcy court that concluded that creditors of Delaware LLCs can have derivative standing to pursue fiduciary duty claims against managers and officers
