Contractions of Filippov algebras
We introduce in this paper the contractions of -Lie (or
Filippov) algebras and show that they have a semidirect
structure as their Lie algebra counterparts. As an example, we compute
the non-trivial contractions of the simple Filippov algebras. By
using the \.In\"on\"u-Wigner and the generalized Weimar-Woods contractions of
ordinary Lie algebras, we compare (in the simple case)
the Lie algebras Lie (the Lie algebra of inner endomorphisms
of ) with certain contractions
and of

Finite Size Scaling of the 2D Six-Clock model
We investigate the isotropic-anisotropic phase transition of the
two-dimensional XY model with six-fold anisotropy, using Monte Carlo
renormalization group method. The result indicates difficulty of observing
asymptotic critical behavior in Monte Carlo simulations, owing to the marginal

Ricci flow, quantum mechanics and gravity
It has been argued that, underlying any given quantum-mechanical model, there
exists at least one deterministic system that reproduces, after
prequantisation, the given quantum dynamics. For a quantum mechanics with a
complex d-dimensional Hilbert space, the Lie group SU(d) represents classical
canonical transformations on the projective space CP^{d-1} of quantum states.
Let R stand for the Ricci flow of the manifold SU(d-1) down to one point, and
let P denote the projection from the Hopf bundle onto its base CP^{d-1}. Then
the underlying deterministic model we propose here is the Lie group SU(d),
acted on by the operation PR. Finally we comment on some possible consequences
that our model may have on a quantum theory of gravity.Comment: 8 page
Manipulation of Magnetic Skyrmions by Superconducting Vortices in Ferromagnet-Superconductor Heterostructures
Dynamics of magnetic skyrmions in hybrid ferromagnetic films harbors novel
physical phenomena and holds promise for technological applications. In this
work, we discuss the behavior of magnetic skyrmions when coupled to
superconducting vortices in a ferromagnet-superconductor heterostructure. We
use numerical simulations and analytic arguments to reveal broader
possibilities for manipulating the skyrmion-vortex dynamic correlations in the
hybrid system, that are not possible in its separated constituents. We explore
the thresholds of particular dynamic phases, and quantify the phase diagram as
a function of the relevant material parameters, applied current and induced
magnetic torques. Finally, we demonstrate the broad and precise tunability of
the skyrmion Hall-angle in presence of vortices, with respect to currents
applied to either or both the superconductor and the ferromagnet within the
heterostructure
Toxicological Study Employing Repeated Doses of Garcinielliptone FC, a Polyisoprenylated-Benzophenone Isolated from Seed of Platonia Insignis Mart
The major constituent from the hexane extract of the seeds of P. insignis is GFC (garcinielliptone FC). Doses of 25, 50and 75 mg/kg of GFC were aseptically suspended in 0.05% Tween 80 dissolved in 0.9% saline (vehicle) and orally administered for30, 90 and 120 consecutive days to adult Swiss mice. In this work, the repeated oral administration, in animals of both sexes,demonstrates that this compound is not able to induce mortality and/or behavioral changes in adult mice. In addition, body weightgain, feed intake and disposal of excreta were not altered by the administration of this compound with repeated doses. Furthermore,no differences in weight and macroscopic structure of the brain, liver, kidney, lung, heart and spleen between groups of male andfemale adult mice were observed after treatment. During the periods of treatment, GFC produced no significant changes onhaematological and biochemical parameters in male and female mice treated with all doses used. The aim of this study was toinvestigate the toxicological potential of GFC through behavioral, hematological, biochemical and morphological parameters inanimals in order to ensure the safe use of Platonia insignis in folk medicine.Fil: Silva, Ana P.. Statistical stability and limit laws for Rovella maps
We consider the family of one-dimensional maps arising from the contracting
Lorenz attractors studied by Rovella. Benedicks-Carleson techniques were used
by Rovella to prove that there is a one-parameter family of maps whose
derivatives along their critical orbits increase exponentially fast and the
critical orbits have slow recurrent to the critical point. Metzger proved that
these maps have a unique absolutely continuous ergodic invariant probability
measure (SRB measure).
Here we use the technique developed by Freitas and show that the tail set
(the set of points which at a given time have not achieved either the
exponential growth of derivative or the slow recurrence) decays exponentially
fast as time passes. As a consequence, we obtain the continuous variation of
the densities of the SRB measures and associated metric entropies with the
parameter. Our main result also implies some statistical properties for these

Study of the Fully Frustrated Clock Model using the Wang-Landau Algorithm
Monte Carlo simulations using the newly proposed Wang-Landau algorithm
together with the broad histogram relation are performed to study the
antiferromagnetic six-state clock model on the triangular lattice, which is
fully frustrated. We confirm the existence of the magnetic ordering belonging
to the Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) type phase transition followed by the chiral
ordering which occurs at slightly higher temperature. We also observe the lower
temperature phase transition of KT type due to the discrete symmetry of the
clock model. By using finite-size scaling analysis, the higher KT temperature
and the chiral critical temperature are respectively estimated as
and . The results are in favor of the double
transition scenario. The lower KT temperature is estimated as .
Two decay exponents of KT transitions corresponding to higher and lower
temperatures are respectively estimated as and
, which suggests that the exponents associated with the KT

A survey of cultural aspects in Human Computer Interaction Research
Considering culture in human computer interaction research is an important issue since culture has a strong impact on many cognitive and affective processes, closed related to the design and evaluation of interactive systems. Also, people with different cultural backgrounds develop alternative interpretations and strategies and do not value their environment in the same way, and this reflects in their interactions and satisfaction with interactive technologies. In this survey we summarize some concepts of the cultural aspects related to human computer interaction research. After we discuss how HCI practices could address these cultural issues. Our intention is to establish background and some basic concepts for helping researchers incorporating cultural issues in their design and evaluation processes
