    Heat to Electricity Conversion by a Graphene Stripe with Heavy Chiral Fermions

    A conversion of thermal energy into electricity is considered in the electrically polarized graphene stripes with zigzag edges where the heavy chiral fermion (HCF) states are formed. The stripes are characterized by a high electric conductance Ge and by a significant Seebeck coefficient S. The electric current in the stripes is induced due to a non-equilibrium thermal injection of "hot" electrons. This thermoelectric generation process might be utilized for building of thermoelectric generators with an exceptionally high figure of merit Z{\delta}T \simeq 100 >> 1 and with an appreciable electric power densities \sim 1 MW/cm2.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

    CP violation in J/ψΛΛˉJ/\psi \rightarrow \Lambda \bar \Lambda

    We study CP violation in J/ψΛΛˉJ/\psi \rightarrow \Lambda \bar{\Lambda} decay. This decay provides a good place to look for CP violation. Some observables are very sensitive to the Λ\Lambda electric dipole moment dΛd_\Lambda and therefore can be used to improve the experimental upper bound on dΛd_\Lambda.     The recent results on the CP violating parameters Re(e'/e) and \Delta\phi = \phi_{00}-\phi_{+-} reported by the KTeV Collaboration are analyzed with a view to constrain CP, T and CPT violations in a decay process. Combining with some relevant data compiled by the Particle Data Group, we find Re(e_2-e_0) = (0.85 +- 3.11)*10^{-4} and Im(e_2-e_0) = (3.2 +- 0.7)*10^{-4}, where Re(e_I) and Im(e_I) represent respectively CP/CPT and CP/T violations in decay of K^0 and \bar{K^0} into a 2\pi state with isospin I.Comment: 7 pages, No figure

    Probing scalar particle and unparticle couplings in e+ e- -> t tbar with transversely polarized beams

    In searching for indications of new physics scalar particle and unparticle couplings in e^+ e^- \to t\bar t, we consider the role of transversely polarized initial beams at e^+ e^- colliders. By using a general relativistic spin density matrix formalism for describing the particles spin states, we find analytical expressions for the squared amplitude of the process with t or \bar t polarization measured, including the anomalous coupling contributions. Thanks to the transversely polarized initial beams these contributions are first order anomalous coupling corrections to the Standard Model (SM) contributions. We present and analyse the main features of the SM and anomalous coupling contributions. Angle of polarization plane rotation for transition 6S_{1/2} - 7S_{1/2} in cesium (lambda=539 nm) is estimated.     Analogue Models for T and CPT Violation in Neutral-Meson Oscillations

    Analogue models for CP violation in neutral-meson systems are studied in a general framework. No-go results are obtained for models in classical mechanics that are nondissipative or that involve one-dimensional oscillators. A complete emulation is shown to be possible for a two-dimensional oscillator with rheonomic constraints, and an explicit example with spontaneous T and CPT violation is presented. The results have implications for analogue models with electrical circuits.Comment: 9 page

    T violation and the unidirectionality of time

    An increasing number of experiments at the Belle, BNL, CERN, DA{\Phi}NE and SLAC accelerators are confirming the violation of time reversal invariance (T). The violation signifies a fundamental asymmetry between the past and future and calls for a major shift in the way we think about time. Here we show that processes which violate T symmetry induce destructive interference between different paths that the universe can take through time. The interference eliminates all paths except for two that represent continuously forwards and continuously backwards time evolution. Evidence from the accelerator experiments indicates which path the universe is effectively following. This work may provide fresh insight into the long-standing problem of modeling the dynamics of T violation processes. It suggests that T violation has previously unknown, large-scale physical effects and that these effects underlie the origin of the unidirectionality of time. It may have implications for the Wheeler-DeWitt equation of canonical quantum gravity. Finally it provides a view of the quantum nature of time itself.Comment: 24 pages, 5 figures.     Explicit CP violation in the Dine-Seiberg-Thomas model

    The possibility of explicit CP violation is studied in a supersymmetric model proposed by Dine, Seiberg, and Thomas, with two effective dimension-five operators. The explicit CP violation may be triggered by complex phases in the coefficients for the dimension-five operators in the Higgs potential, and by a complex phase in the scalar top quark masses. Although the scenario of explicit CP violation is found to be inconsistent with the experimental data at LEP2 at the tree level, it may be possible at the one-loop level. For a reasonable parameter space, the masses of the neutral Higgs bosons and their couplings to a pair of ZZ bosons are consistent with the LEP2 data, at the one-loop level.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure

    πΞ\pi\Xi phase shifts and CP Violation in ΩπΞ{\Omega\to\pi\Xi} Decay

    In the study of CP violation signals in {\O}\to\pi\Xi nonleptonic decays, the strong JJ=3/2 PP and DD phase shifts for the πΞ\pi\Xi final-state interactions are needed. These phases are calculated using an effective Lagrangian model, including Ξ\Xi, Ξ\Xi^*(1530), ρ\rho and the σ\sigma-term, in the intermediate states.     CP Violation in Fermion Pair Decays of Neutral Boson Particles

    We study CP violation in fermion pair decays of neutral boson particles with spin 0 or 1. We study a new asymmetry to measure CP violation in η,KLμ+μ\eta, K_L \rightarrow \mu^+\mu^- decays and discuss the possibility of measuring it experimentally. For the spin-1 particles case, we study CP violation in the decays of J/ψJ/\psi to SU(3)SU(3) octet baryon pairs. We show that these decays can be used to put stringent constraints on the electric dipole moments of Λ\Lambda, Σ\Sigma and Ξ\Xi.Comment: 14p, OZ-93/22, UM-93/89, OITS 51
