Synchronization of the Frenet-Serret linear system with a chaotic nonlinear system by feedback of states
A synchronization procedure of the generalized type in the sense of Rulkov et
al [Phys. Rev. E 51, 980 (1995)] is used to impose a nonlinear Malasoma chaotic
motion on the Frenet-Serret system of vectors in the differential geometry of
space curves. This could have applications to the mesoscopic motion of
biological filamentsComment: 12 pages, 7 figures, accepted at Int. J. Theor. Phy
Muon pairs and upper limit for upsilon production by 280 GeV muons
The high mass \u3bc+\u3bc 12 pairs produced by 280 GeV \u3bc+ on a carbon target are studied in a search for the Y production. The high mass continuum in the region 2\u201318 GeV is interpreted in terms of QED pair production and of \u3bc pairs originating from the decay of hidden and open charm particles as well as of hadrons (\u3c0, K) from deep inelastic interactions. The upper limit for the upsilon production by muons is found to be, at the 90% confidence level, \u3c3\u3b3\ub7(\u3b3\u2192\u3bc+\u3bc 12)<13\ub710 1239 cm2/nucleon
A measurement of the nucleon structure function from muon-carbon deep inelastic scattering at high
Deep inelastic scattering cross sections have been measured with the CERN SPS muon beam at incident energies of 120 and 200 GeV. Approximately 10000 events at each energy used to obtain the structure function F/sub 2/(x, Q/sup 2/) in the kinematic region 0.3<x<0.7 and 25 GeV/sup 2/<Q/sup 2/<200 GeV/sup 2/. (20 refs)
