The Aligned Orbit of the Eccentric Proto Hot Jupiter TOI-3362b
High-eccentricity tidal migration predicts the existence of highly eccentric
proto-hot Jupiters on the "tidal circularization track," meaning that they
might eventually become hot Jupiters, but that their migratory journey remains
incomplete. Having experienced moderate amounts of the tidal reprocessing of
their orbital elements, proto-hot Jupiters systems can be powerful test beds
for the underlying mechanisms of eccentricity growth. Notably, they may be used
for discriminating between variants of high-eccentricity migration, each
predicting a distinct evolution of misalignment between the star and the
planet's orbit. We constrain the spin-orbit misalignment of the proto-hot
Jupiter TOI-3362b with high-precision radial velocity observations using
ESPRESSO at VLT. The observations reveal a sky-projected obliquity deg and constrain the orbital eccentricity to , making it one of the most eccentric gas giants for which the obliquity
has been measured. The large eccentricity and the striking orbit alignment of
the planet suggest that ongoing coplanar high-eccentricity migration driven by
a distant companion is a possible explanation for the system's architecture.
This distant companion would need to reside beyond 5 au at 95% confidence to be

Illness Experience and Quality of Life in Sjögren Syndrome Patients
Sjögrenâs syndrome (SS) is a disease with autoimmune features that affects mainly women and compromises the health-related quality of Life (HRQoL); it is important to evaluate illness experience for a better understanding of the life situation of the patient. The aim of the study was to summarize the individual life experiences and determine the impact of HRQoL and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and their correlation with health self-assessment in women with SS. The life experiences evaluation employed a concept mapping design to structure qualitative content obtained from semi-structured interviews. Hierarchical cluster analysis was used to analyze the patientâs experiences. EQ-5D-5L and OHIP-14Sp were used. The correlation between appreciation of the general health status and OHIP-14 was evaluated. The experience classification by patients were analyzed and a dendrogram was obtained, identifying 10 clusters of disease experiences of SS, being limitations, pain and difficulties, coping and attitudes towards treatment the most common. Pain/discomfort in EQ-5D-5L and physical pain and psychological discomfort in OHIP-14 were the most affected dimensions in the patients. The results support the theoretical perspective that the experience of illness is relevant to describing the main difficulties of patients with SS and how it affects their quality of life
Three Warm Jupiters around Solar-analog Stars Detected with TESS*
We report the discovery and characterization of three giant exoplanets orbiting solar-analog stars, detected by the TESS space mission and confirmed through ground-based photometry and radial velocity measurements taken at La Silla observatory with FEROS. TOI-2373 b is a warm Jupiter orbiting its host star every âŒ13.3 days, and is one of the most massive known exoplanet with a precisely determined mass and radius around a star similar to the Sun, with an estimated mass of m _p = and a radius of r _p = . With a mean density of , TOI-2373 b is among the densest planets discovered so far. TOI-2416 b orbits its host star on a moderately eccentric orbit with a period of âŒ8.3 days and an eccentricity of e = . TOI-2416 b is more massive than Jupiter with m _p = , however is significantly smaller with a radius of r _p = , leading to a high mean density of . TOI-2524 b is a warm Jupiter near the hot Jupiter transition region, orbiting its star every âŒ7.2 days on a circular orbit. It is less massive than Jupiter with a mass of m _p = , and is consistent with an inflated radius of r _p = , leading to a low mean density of . The newly discovered exoplanets TOI-2373 b, TOI-2416 b, and TOI-2524 b have estimated equilibrium temperatures of K, K, and K, respectively, placing them in the sparsely populated transition zone between hot and warm Jupiters
Global Perspectives on Task Shifting and Task Sharing in Neurosurgery.
BACKGROUND: Neurosurgical task shifting and task sharing (TS/S), delegating clinical care to non-neurosurgeons, is ongoing in many hospital systems in which neurosurgeons are scarce. Although TS/S can increase access to treatment, it remains highly controversial. This survey investigated perceptions of neurosurgical TS/S to elucidate whether it is a permissible temporary solution to the global workforce deficit. METHODS: The survey was distributed to a convenience sample of individuals providing neurosurgical care. A digital survey link was distributed through electronic mailing lists of continental neurosurgical societies and various collectives, conference announcements, and social media platforms (July 2018-January 2019). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and univariate regression of Likert Scale scores. RESULTS: Survey respondents represented 105 of 194 World Health Organization member countries (54.1%; 391 respondents, 162 from high-income countries and 229 from low- and middle-income countries [LMICs]). The most agreed on statement was that task sharing is preferred to task shifting. There was broad consensus that both task shifting and task sharing should require competency-based evaluation, standardized training endorsed by governing organizations, and maintenance of certification. When perspectives were stratified by income class, LMICs were significantly more likely to agree that task shifting is professionally disruptive to traditional training, task sharing should be a priority where human resources are scarce, and to call for additional TS/S regulation, such as certification and formal consultation with a neurosurgeon (in person or electronic/telemedicine). CONCLUSIONS: Both LMIC and high-income countries agreed that task sharing should be prioritized over task shifting and that additional recommendations and regulations could enhance care. These data invite future discussions on policy and training programs
Spontaneous adsorption of gold nanoparticles by polyelectrolyte thin films
Nanocomposed films constituted by gold nanoparticles immobilized onto polyelectrolytes were obtained and studied. To obtain the films, amino terminated silicon wafer surfaces were put in contact with aqueous solution of polyelectrolytes derived from Poly(maleic anhydride-alt-styrene) containing aryl and amine-alkyl groups in the side chains, in this condition the adsorption of macromolecules was achieved. The effects of the chemical nature of the side chains and ionic strength on the amounts of adsorbed polyelectrolytes were studied by ellipsometry. The adsorption of polyelectrolytes increases with increasing ionic strength in agreement with the screening-enhanced adsorption regime; the results are discussed considering the steric hindrance of the side chains and flexibility of the polymers. A spontaneous adsorption process of nanoparticles onto polyelectrolyte films took place when these last were immersed in a gold nanoparticles suspension. The adsorption amounts were qualitatively
