Temporary Bonding with Polydimethylglutarimide Based Lift Off Resist as a Layer Transfer Platform

Bonding of lift off resist (LOR) was performed to realize temporary wafer bonding without residue. Bonding process conditions such as spin speed, pre-bake temperature, and bonding temperature were optimized to obtain a large bonded area with high bond strength. Under optimized process conditions, a bonded area covering over 98% of the wafer surface, with a room temperature bond strength of nearly 5 J/m2 is achieved. During razor blade testing, fracture often occurs at the Si wafer. Moreover, debonding using an N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP)-based solvent left the wafer surface extremely small amount of residue. Thus, the optimized bonding processed developed in this research is suitable for a clean temporary bonding process

Proteomic identification of in vivo substrates for matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 reveals a mechanism for resolution of inflammation.

Clearance of allergic inflammatory cells from the lung through matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) is necessary to prevent lethal asphyxiation, but mechanistic insight into this essential homeostatic process is lacking. In this study, we have used a proteomics approach to determine how MMPs promote egression of lung inflammatory cells through the airway. MMP2- and MMP9-dependent cleavage of individual Th2 chemokines modulated their chemotactic activity; however, the net effect of complementing bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of allergen-challenged MMP2(-/-)/MMP9(-/-) mice with active MMP2 and MMP9 was to markedly enhance its overall chemotactic activity. In the bronchoalveolar fluid of MMP2(-/-)/MMP9(-/-) allergic mice, we identified several chemotactic molecules that possessed putative MMP2 and MMP9 cleavage sites and were present as higher molecular mass species. In vitro cleavage assays and mass spectroscopy confirmed that three of the identified proteins, Ym1, S100A8, and S100A9, were substrates of MMP2, MMP9, or both. Function-blocking Abs to S100 proteins significantly altered allergic inflammatory cell migration into the alveolar space. Thus, an important effect of MMPs is to differentially modify chemotactic bioactivity through proteolytic processing of proteins present in the airway. These findings provide a molecular mechanism to explain the enhanced clearance of lung inflammatory cells through the airway and reveal a novel approach to target new therapies for asthma

Anal Cancer debuting as Cancer of Unknown Primary

Anal cancer usually presents with a visible or palpable tumour. In this case we describe a 54-year old man diagnosed with Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) with a single inguinal node as the only finding. Thorough examination failed to identify any primary tumour. The patient was treated with lymph node dissection and not until nearly two years after initial diagnosis, was the primary tumour found, and the patient was diagnosed with anal cancer. The patient was treated with chemoradiotherapy and 45 months after initial diagnosis there is still no sign of relapse. This case illustrates, that anal cancer can metastasise before the primary tumour is detectable. Furthermore, it demonstrates the necessity of thorough clinical follow-up after treatment of CUP since the primary tumour was found later. Finally this is a case of a long-term survivor following treatment for metastatic inguinal lymph nodes from an initially unknown primary cancer

Wir bitten um ein differenziertes Urteil: Möglichkeiten zur Reduktion von Nondifferentiation bei Rating-Skalen

    Get PDF

Perceptual and acoustic correlates of DBS of subthalamic nucleus versus globus pallidus interna for IPD : a comparative pilot study

Purpose: This study compared bilateral deep brain stimulation (DBS) in subthalamic nucleus (STN) versus globus pallidus interna (GPI) on perceived Speech Severity in Parkinson’s disease. Methods: 12 individuals with STN-DBS and 8 individuals with GPI-DBS were audio-recorded with DBS ON and OFF while reading an excerpt from the Rainbow Passage and producing a conversational monologue. Using a within-speaker, paired comparison paradigm, 10 listeners judged Speech Severity for pairs of stimulation ON-OFF (and OFF-ON) reading passages and monologues masked to stimulation status and speaker group. The proportion of trials for which ON versus OFF stimuli in a given pair was judged to be less severe was calculated. Results: There was a task effect, with significant results for Rainbow Passage but not conversational monologue. Perceived Speech Severity differed with stimulation status for GPI-DBS but not STN-DBS, with a greater proportion of ON stimulation speech samples judged to be less severe versus OFF samples. At the participant level, response to ON/OFF stimulation was highly variable in STN-DBS group. Discussion: DBS stimulation differentially impacts perceived speech severity for STN-DBS and GPI-DBS. Results further suggest the perceptual benefit of DBS stimulation may be task specific
