    Pump-Turbine Rotor-Stator Interactions in Generating Mode: Pressure Fluctuation in Distributor Channel

    Investigation of the rotor-stator interactions of a reduced-scale model 0.19 ν= pump-turbine in generating mode is presented for the maximum discharge operating condition. This operating point is chosen in order to have the most important rotor-stator interactions. The numerical simulation of the unsteady flow is performed with CFX 5.7™ for a computing domain which is extended to the full pump-turbine from the spiral casing to the draft tube. A computing domain embracing the full geometry enables to minimize the errors, streaming focus the boundary conditions, the periodic interface or the pitch ratio of rotor-stator interface. It also allows considering the fully non uniformity of the in coming flow field from the spiral casing. The pressure measurements are performed with piezoresitive miniature pressure sensors located in the distributor channels. The pressure fluctuations for one distributor channel obtained from the numerical simulation present a very good agreement with experimental data. The numerical result analysis shows, how the pressure fluctuations at blade passage frequency (BPF) and its harmonics vary along a distributor channel of the pumpturbine. The maximum pressure amplitude of BPF occurs in the rotor-stator zone, but it decreases very fast backward to the stay vane. However, the pressure amplitude of the first harmonic corresponding to 2 times the blade passage frequency spreads to the spiral casing highlighting the -2 precessing diametrical mode resulting from the modulation of the interacting stationary and rotating flow field

    Discovery of Dust Emission Activity Emanating from Main-belt Asteroid 2015 FW412

    We present the discovery of activity emanating from main-belt asteroid 2015 FW412, a finding stemming from the Citizen Science project Active Asteroids, a NASA Partner program. We identified a pronounced tail originating from 2015 FW412 and oriented in the anti-motion direction in archival Blanco 4-m (Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, Chile) Dark Energy Camera (DECam) images from UT 2015 April 13, 18, 19, 21 and 22. Activity occurred near perihelion, consistent with the main-belt comets (MBCs), an active asteroid subset known for sublimation-driven activity in the main asteroid belt; thus 2015 FW412 is a candidate MBC. We did not detect activity on UT 2021 December 12 using the Inamori-Magellan Areal Camera and Spectrograph (IMACS) on the 6.5 m Baade telescope, when 2015 FW412 was near aphelion.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

    Efficient synthesis of small-sized phosphonated dendrons: potential organic coatings of iron oxide nanoparticles:

    We report herein the synthesis of biocompatible small-sized phosphonated monomers and dendrons used as functional coatings of metal oxide nanoparticles, more specifically superparamagnetic iron oxides (SPIOs) for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and therapy through hyperthermia. The molecules were engineered to modulate their size, their hydrophilic and/or biocompatible character (poly(amido) amine versus oligoethyleneglycol), the number of anchoring phosphonate groups (monophosphonate versus phosphonic tweezers) and the number of peripheral functional groups for further grafting of dyes or specific vectors. Such a library of hydrophilic phosphonic acids opens new possibilities for the investigation of dendronized nanohybrids as theranostics

    HIP 67506 C: MagAO-X Confirmation of a New Low-Mass Stellar Companion to HIP 67506 A

    We report the confirmation of HIP 67506 C, a new stellar companion to HIP 67506 A. We previously reported a candidate signal at 2λ\lambda/D (240~mas) in L′^{\prime} in MagAO/Clio imaging using the binary differential imaging technique. Several additional indirect signals showed that the candidate signal merited follow-up: significant astrometric acceleration in Gaia DR3, Hipparcos-Gaia proper motion anomaly, and overluminosity compared to single main sequence stars. We confirmed the companion, HIP 67506 C, at 0.1" with MagAO-X in April, 2022. We characterized HIP 67506 C MagAO-X photometry and astrometry, and estimated spectral type K7-M2; we also re-evaluated HIP 67506 A in light of the close companion. Additionally we show that a previously identified 9" companion, HIP 67506 B, is a much further distant unassociated background star. We also discuss the utility of indirect signposts in identifying small inner working angle candidate companions.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures, 4 tables, accepted to MNRA

    Getting what you want : How fit between desired and received leader sensitivity influences emotion and Counterproductive work behavior

    We challenge the intuitive belief that greater leader sensitivity is always associated with desirable outcomes for employees and organizations. Specifically, we argue that followers’ idiosyncratic desires for, and perceptions of, leader sensitivity behaviors play a key role in how followers react to their leader’s sensitivity. Moreover, these resulting affective experiences are likely to have important consequences for organizations, specifically as they relate to employee counterproductive work behavior (CWB). Drawing from supplies-values (S-V) fit theory and the stressor-emotion model of CWB, the current study focuses on the affective and behavioral consequences of fit between subordinates’ ideal leader sensitivity behavior preferences and subordinates’ perceptions of their actual leader’s sensitivity behaviors. Polynomial regression analyses reveal that congruence between ideal and actual leader sensitivity influences employee negative affect and, consequently, engagement in counterproductive work behavior.
