However, making sense of the many, and sometimes seemingly inconsistent, results is difficult. OBJECTIVE - We propose and evaluate a general framework for software defect prediction that supports 1) unbiased and 2) comprehensive comparison between competing prediction systems. METHOD - The framework is comprised of 1) scheme evaluation and 2) defect prediction components. The scheme evaluation analyzes the prediction performance of competing learning schemes for given historical data sets. The defect predictor builds models according to the evaluated learning scheme and predicts software defects with new data according to the constructed model. In order to demonstrate the performance of the proposed framework, we use both simulation and publicly available software defect data sets. RESULTS - The results show that we should choose different learning schemes for different data sets (i.e., no scheme dominates), that small details in conducting how evaluations are conducted can completely reverse findings, and last, that our proposed framework is more effective and less prone to bias than previous approaches. CONCLUSIONS - Failure to properly or fully evaluate a learning scheme can be misleading; however, these problems may be overcome by our proposed framework.National Natural Science Foundation of

Absolute continuity of symmetric Markov processes
We study Girsanov's theorem in the context of symmetric Markov processes,
extending earlier work of Fukushima-Takeda and Fitzsimmons on Girsanov
transformations of ``gradient type.'' We investigate the most general Girsanov
transformation leading to another symmetric Markov process. This investigation
requires an extension of the forward-backward martingale method of Lyons-Zheng,
to cover the case of processes with jumps.Comment: Published by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics

Computation of the p6 order chiral Lagrangian coefficients from the underlying theory of QCD
We present results of computing the p6 order low energy constants in the
normal part of chiral Lagrangian both for two and three flavor pseudo-scalar
mesons. This is a generalization of our previous work on calculating the p4
order coefficients of the chiral Lagrangian in terms of the quark self energy
Sigma(p2) approximately from QCD. We show that most of our results are
consistent with those we can find in the literature.Comment: 51 pages,2 figure
Quantum transport through a double Aharonov-Bohm-interferometer in the presence of Andreev reflection
Quantum transport through a double Aharonov-Bohm-interferometer in the
presence of Andreev reflection is investigated in terms of the nonequilibrium
Green function method with which the reflection current is obtained. Tunable
Andreev reflection probabilities depending on the interdot coupling strength
and magnetic flux as well are analysised in detail. It is found that the
oscillation period of the reflection probability with respect to the magnetic
flux for the double interferometer depends linearly on the ratio of two parts
magnetic fluxes n, i.e. 2(n+1)pi, while that of a single interferometer is 2pi.
The coupling strength not only affects the height and the linewidth of Andreev
reflection current peaks vs gate votage but also shifts the peak positions. It
is furthermore demonstrated that the Andreev reflection current peaks can be
tuned by the magnetic fluxes.Comment: 13 pages, 12 figur
