The Non-universal behaviour of Cold Fermi Condensates with Narrow Feshbach Resonances
In this paper we construct an effective field theory for a condensate of cold
Fermi atoms whose scattering is controlled by a narrow Feshbach resonance. We
show how, from first principles, it permits a hydrodynamic description of the
BEC-BCS crossover from which the equation of state, intimately related to the
speed of sound, can be derived. Specifically, we stress the non-universal
behaviour of the equation of state at the unitary limit of infinite scattering
length that arises when either, or both, of the range of the inter-atomic force
and the scale of the molecular field become large.Comment: 7 pages, there is no differences in results between this (v2) and the
older version (v1), but v2 makes the nature of the non-canonical behavior of
the EOS cleare
Anharmonic effect on lattice distortion, orbital ordering and magnetic properties in Cs2AgF4
We develop the cluster self-consistent field method incorporating both
electronic and lattice degrees of freedom to study the origin of ferromagnetism
in CsAgF. After self-consistently determining the harmonic and
anharmonic Jahn-Teller distortions, we show that the anharmonic distortion
stabilizes the staggered x-z/y-z orbital and
ferromagnetic ground state, rather than the antiferromagnetic one. The
amplitudes of lattice distortions, Q and Q, the magnetic coupling
strengthes, J, and the magnetic moment, are in good agreement with the
experimental observation.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figure
Prokineticin 2 Is a Target Gene of Proneural Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Factors for Olfactory Bulb Neurogenesis
Prokineticin 2, a cysteine-rich secreted protein, regulates diverse biological functions including the neurogenesis of olfactory bulb. Here we show that the PK2 gene is a functional target gene of proneural basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) factors. Neurogenin 1 and MASH1 activate PK2 transcription by binding to E-box motifs on the PK2 promoter with the same set of E-boxes critical for another pair of bHLH factors, CLOCK and BMAL1, in the regulation of circadian clock. Our results establish PK2 as a common functional target gene for different bHLH transcriptional factors in mediating their respective functions
