Operator algebra as an application of logarithmic representation of infinitesimal generators
The operator algebra is introduced based on the framework of logarithmic
representation of infinitesimal generators. In conclusion a set of
generally-unbounded infinitesimal generators is characterized as a module over

Aristotle on Geometrical Potentialities
This paper examines Aristotle's discussion of the priority of actuality to potentiality in geometry at Metaphysics Θ9, 1051a21–33. Many scholars have assumed what I call the "geometrical construction" interpretation, according to which his point here concerns the relation between an inquirer's thinking and a geometrical figure. In contrast, I defend what I call the "geometrical analysis" interpretation, according to which it concerns the asymmetrical relation between geometrical propositions in which one is proved by means of the other. His argument as so construed is ultimately based on the asymmetrical relation between the corresponding geometrical facts. Then I explore this ontological priority in geometry by drawing attention to a parallel passage, Posterior Analytics II.11, 94a24–35, where Aristotle explains the relation between the same geometrical propositions in connection to material causation

Luminosity Dependent Evolution of Lyman Break Galaxies from redshift 5 to 3

of Lyman break galaxies at z~5 obtained from deep and wide blank field surveys
using Subaru telescope, and through the comparison with samples at lower
redshift ranges we discuss the evolution of star-forming galaxies in the early

Sleep patterns of Japanese preschool children and their parents: implications for co-sleeping
Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to investigate the direct relationship of sleep schedule and sleep quality variables between healthy preschool children and their parents, focusing on the influence of the difference in bedtime between each other. Methods Forty-seven Japanese 5-year-old children and their primary parent were studied. The parents completed questionnaires including the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The children wore an actigraph for one week. Results Although sleep patterns of children were generally independent of their parents, late sleep end time and bedtime of children were associated with parents' late sleep end time on weekends. For 87% of children and parents who shared a bedroom, sleep quality was negatively affected by a shorter difference in bedtimes between child and parent, but not by co-sleeping. Conclusion Sleep behaviours of parents can influence those of their children. For parents and children who share a bedroom, the timing of bedtime rather than co-sleeping may be a key factor in modulating sleep patterns. Trying to get children asleep and subsequently falling asleep at a similar time may disturb parents' sleep quality, which may subsequently affect that of their children
Using a perceptual measure to evaluate students’ acceptance of digitally-created English learning content
The use of connected computers as interactive tools in the creation and presentation of media-rich content for teaching is increasing rapidly. However, while it is technically possible to create or use digital materials, a number of issues must be explored before teachers can confidently reuse them. Teachers need to know whether the digitally-created content works effectively in their teaching. Institutions need to assure that the content is of the highest standards and fit for educational purpose. This paper outlines the process and procedures used in the development of an instrument to investigate students’ perceptions of digital materials presented in an English language course at a college in Japan. It also describes how a perceptual measure can be used to evaluate whether the content presented meets the learners’ needs
