Noise Attenuation from Tramway Traffic
The article describes course and results of experiment, which provided influence of change of acoustic absorption properties of concrete tram track surface by using the recycled rubber on traffic noise attenuation. The experiment was carried out in cooperation of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, VSB-TU Ostrava with the companies: the Ostrava Transport Company Plc, ODS - the Transport Constructions Plc, INTERTECH plus, Ltd. and with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, VSB-TU Ostrava [2]
Thermal transient analysis of steel hollow sections exposed to fire
The paper describes a study of non-uniform temperature distribution across the section of steel structures where elevated temperature causes additive internal forces due to restrained conditions. The work provides comparison of a heat field at the time of fire in the non-protected steel hollow cross-sections of different sizes. The study compares simplified calculations according to valid standard and numerical simulations in finite element analysis of steel structures exposed to fire loading from three sides. Numerical thermal analysis is also compared with results obtained from the fire testing in VSB-Technical University of Ostrava
Using of Aerogel to Improve Thermal Insulating Properties of Windows
For the best possible thermal-technical properties of building structures it is necessary to use materials with very low thermal conductivity. Due to the increasing thermal-technical requirements for building structures, the insulating materials are developed. One of the modern thermal insulating materials is so-called aerogel. Unfortunately, this material is not used in the field of external thermal insulation composite systems because of its price and its properties. The aim of this paper is to present possibilities of using this insulating material in the civil engineering - specifically a usage of aerogel in the production of windows
