THE DEVELOPMENT OF HAPPY WORKPLACE INDEX
This research aims to study and develop a Happy Workplace Index using mixed methods research. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected using various methods such as: (1) literature review, (2) happy workplace index synthesis, (3) content validation by experts, (4) pilot study, and (5) analysis and improvement. Selection of organizations for quantitative sampling was done by randomly selecting organizations subjected to external review in 2008. Selection of organizations for qualitative sampling was done by assignment of selection criteria of informants including the organization leader, staff in personnel administration, and human resources management divisions. There were 93 organizations selected for quantitative review and 8 organizations selected for qualitative review. The research tools consisted of a self-evaluation handbook (Happy Workplace Index: Questionnaire for self-assessment), questionnaires for asking the staff and guideline for interviews. Qualitative data were analysed using content analysis and quantitative data were analysed using frequency, percentages, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The result revealed that the developed Happy Workplace Index was comprised of 39 indices set with 5 dimensions. The first dimension was human resources management (6 sub-indices), the second dimension was environment and atmosphere in enhancing health (10 sub-indices), the third dimension was healthy organization creation process (8 sub-indices), the fourth dimension was physical and mental health (11 sub-indices), and the fifth dimension was results (4 sub-indices). Results of EFA created 4 crucial components which are: component 1-Working atmosphere (18 sub-indices) with factor loading between 0.39 -0.86, component 2-Human resources management (9 sub-indices) with factor loading between 0.48 -0.67, component 3-Physical and mental health (4 sub-indices) with factor loading between 0.50 -0.81, and component 4-Growth or organizational products quality (4 sub-indices) with factor loading between 0.35 -0.77, which adequately 527 528 Doungnetre Thummakul et al... explained variability in the 39 indices and its sub-indices (56.92%). The further research should develop the criteria for evaluating the happy workplace level. Thus, the organization can used be the criteria as guidelines for evaluating outcomes of happy workplace promotion activities
SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND INVESTIGATION OF SCHIFF BASE AS A CORROSION INHIBITOR FOR MILD STEEL IN H 2 SO 4 MEDIUM
Abstract: The corrosion behaviour of mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 was studied by using (4-methoxy-6-methyl-pyrimidin-2-yl)-(1-pyridin-2-yl-ethylidene)-amine (MMPPE) as an inhibitor by using the conventional potentiodynamic polarization studies, linear polarization studies (LPR) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies (EIS). The results showed that MMPPE possesses excellent inhibition effect towards mild steel corrosion. The inhibitor molecules were first adsorbed on the mild steel surface thereby blocking the active sites available for acid attack. Keywords: Schiff base, mild steel, potentiodynamic polarization, EIS, LPR. Introduction Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic organic compounds have been found to be effective corrosion inhibitors. Lately, at industrial level, these were in to use not only due to their efficiency but also due to their safety. These are also valid as well for other organic compounds which act as corrosion inhibitors for metals and alloys. In this respect, there is a special emphasis on natural compounds which are nontoxic and ecologically friendly. Different types of organic compounds have been reported to act as inhibitors of corrosion [1][2][3][4][5][6]. In acidic environments, organic compounds with more than one hetero-atom containing pi-electrons exhibit high inhibiting properties by providing electrons which interact with metal surface [7]. It has been reported that Schiff bases show more inhibition efficiency than corresponding amines and carbonyl compounds [8]. Recently more emphasis is being paid in the investigation of Schiff bases as corrosion inhibitors in acidic media due to their enhanced inhibiting action and ease of their synthesis from relatively cheap raw materials. The objective of this present investigation is to determine the corrosion inhibition efficiency of (4-methoxy-6-methyl-pyrimidin-2-yl)-(1-pyridin-2-yl-ethylidene)-amine as a novel inhibitor for the corrosion of carbon steel in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 and to calculate the surface parameters of the synthesized inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency was determined using three different techniques: viz linear polarization resistance (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization measurements
DETERMINANTS OF COMPENSATION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN BANKS OF THE GROWTH TRIANGLE COUNTRIES (INDONESIA, MALAYSIA AND THAILAND): FRESH EVIDENCE
Compensation of the Board of Directors in the banking industry has been a major area of controversy in the developed world for over two decades now. Corporate scandals, reflected in excessive management compensation and fraudulent accounts, have been cited as some of the factors causing such controversy. The proposition of the Agency theory to link compensation of the directors as closely as possible to firm performance is a major benchmark to contain the scope of controversial decisions of the bank Board
The Construction of Corns Removing Machine for Ban Pa Dang Tai Community, Talukklangtung Commune, Muang District, Tak Province
This research aims to construct the corn shelling machine for Ban Pa Dang Tai Community, Talukklangtung commune, Muang district, Tak province. The corn shelling machine is consisted of 2 parts. The first part removes grain from the whole corn and then transfer to sieve, which removes grain from corncob. The second part is the power source system that powers a V-belt system with 2 Hp and 1,450 rpm.
The corn shelling machine was tested using “PACIFIC 339” corn which contains 15% humidity. In the light of comparison between rotation speed and weight of corn seed, there are three different levels of rotation speed such as 720, 540 and 360 rpm. The optimal speed is 360 rpm that could handle 20 kg of corn with average time of 30.74 seconds. The amount of yielded grain was 85.80%, while 0.7% of the corn seed leaves the exit door. 83.34% of the corncobs were in complete condition, 8.51% were in less complete condition. There is 8.14% of broken particles of corn seed. This machine can work with at least 1,500 kg of corn per hour.
The results of the satisfaction assessment showed that most respondents were satisfied with the appearance of the machine for appropriate use in the community. The average score is 4.93. The average score on minimal contamination of corn is 3.37, reflecting medium satisfaction level. The overall average score of the corn shelling machine is 4.51
