Integrative islamic personality inventory: development and validation
With the growing awareness of the need to integrate modern
psychological approaches with Islamic values and practices, there is a need
among Muslim psychologists and other behavioral scientists for an instrument
capable of capturing the major elements of the Islamic personality. Therefore,
the purpose of this study was to develop and take the first steps in the validation of
the Integrative Islamic Personality Inventory (IIPI), which is a newly developed
measurement. With regard to content validity, 64 items were generated based
on the judgments of a panel of experts. Fifty-seven respondents completed
the preliminary instrument. The inventory demonstrated excellent reliability
and strong internal validity. In the next phases, the inventory will be further
validated and calibrated based on different psychometric standards and model
Discovering the self in Islam: Self-striving, self-regard, and self-neglect
This study explored some self domains and reviewed them through Islamic perspective, more particularly self-knowledge and faith. It provided an extensive literature on particular concepts of selfstriving,self-regard, and self-neglect. To briefly point out, the self has many origins, however deeply noted as such heart, spirit, and psyche in Islam. From these, this study looked at the two known self domains: self-striving, and self-regard. Apart from these concepts, researchers differently chose selfneglect.
With this, the study indicated the self-neglect is an important concept as defensive behavior and
these all self concepts might be useful as a central of human nature for future experimental development
Entansif koşullarda ve ısı stresi altında herik kuzuların besi performansı
This study was carried out to determine the fattening performance of Herik lambs reared under in intensive conditions. Twenty single male lambs, all with an mean body weight of 20.78 kg, were used in the study. Concentrate was given ad libitum and alfalfa was given in the amount of 300 g/lamb/day. The lambs were slaughtered when they reached the live weight of 40 kg. In this study, daily weight gain was generally tended to increase between the initial day and 56th day while it tended to decrease from 56th day to the end of fattening. During the fattening, the daily body weight gain and the feed efficiency were determined as 211 g and 9.668 respectively. Also, the temperature humidity index was determined above to accepted threshold value in ruminants along fattening period. Consequently, daily live weight gain and feed efficiency of Herik lambs were worse than those of Turkish native breeds at the slaughter weight of 40 kg.The unsatisfactory in fattening performance of Herik lambs may be depend on exposed high temperature along fattening period and till now lack of improvement studies on them. Thus, researchs should be done for fattening performance of Herik lambs under different breeding conditions.
Muslim Religious Openness and Ilm: Relationships with Islamic Religious Reflection, Religious Schema, and Religious Commitments in Malaysia
Religious Reflection Scales yield cross-cultural data suggesting that religious traditions have potentials to integrate intellect with faith. This investigation extended analysis of that possibility to Sunni Muslim university students in Malaysia (N =211) and also examined the hypothesis that Islamic commitments to knowledge (Ilm) promote religious openness. Faith and Intellect Oriented Religious Reflection correlated positively and predicted openness. The Truth of Texts and Teachings factor from the Religious Schema Scales essentially assesses a form of fundamentalism and displayed direct linkages with religious openness as well. Ilm factors from the Ummatic Personality Inventory correlated positively with religious openness and mediated associations of Islamic Religious Reflection with other constructs. Quest as a presumed index of religious openness proved to be incompatible with sincere Muslim commitments. These findings supplemented previous Muslim, Christian, and Hindu data in confirming the potential openness of religious traditions
Developing a new solar radiation estimation model based on Buckingham theorem
While the value of solar radiation can be expressed physically in the days without clouds, this expression becomes difficult in cloudy and complicated weather conditions. In addition, solar radiation measurements are often not taken in developing countries. In such cases, solar radiation estimation models are used. Solar radiation prediction models estimate solar radiation using other measured meteorological parameters those are available in the stations. In this study, a solar radiation estimation model was obtained using Buckingham theorem. This theory has been shown to be useful in predicting solar radiation. In this study, Buckingham theorem is used to express the solar radiation by derivation of dimensionless pi parameters. This derived model is compared with temperature based models in the literature. MPE, RMSE, MBE and NSE error analysis methods are used in this comparison. Allen, Hargreaves, Chen and Bristow-Campbell models in the literature are used for comparison. North Dakota’s meteorological data were used to compare the models.Error analysis were applied through the comparisons between the models in the literature and the model that is derived in the study. These comparisons were made using data obtained from North Dakota’s agricultural climate network. In these applications, the model obtained within the scope of the study gives better results.Especially, in terms of short-term performance, it has been found that the obtained model gives satisfactory results. It has been seen that this model gives better accuracy in comparison with other models. It is possible in RMSE analysis results. Buckingham theorem was found useful in estimating solar radiation. In terms of long term performances and percentage errors, the model has given good results. Keywords: Daily total global solar radiation, Netherlands, North Dakota, Prediction, modelin
The relations between Islam and secularism: the impact of social behavior in Turkey
Secularism as central to society and human life may bring undesired negative consequences in Muslim societies. Increasing social problems among juveniles in Turkey raised questions regarding the right personality development and education of young people. In extending further analysis, we conducted semi-structured interview with experts to assess the level of Turkish personality and impact of Said Nursi, who is a very influential Islamic scholar in Turkish society and to the Islamic movement in general. This study implies that education integrated with Islamic belief and practice will be more influential to educate Turkish Muslims, rather than secular based teaching. This result will be a guideline for educationists and counselors. In future study, developing a personality scale integrated with belief and practice will be beneficial to Muslim communities
Rediscovering Roger's self theory and personality
This study examined the self theory of Carl Rogers in depth. There are some important
concepts illuminated well, considering one's personality development. Its main focus was
positive regard, self-worth and actualizing tendency, proposed by Rogers. To explain them in
brief, positive regard was studied through self-image, ideal self and congruence. Self-worth is
described as conditional and unconditional to cope with challenges in life, tolerate failures
and sadness at times. Actualizing tendency was expounded into fully functioning or selfactualizing.
These all concepts indicated that having a tendency on human behavior and
concentrating on the capacity of individuals to think intentionally and soundly, to control their
biological urges, are significantly main elements to evaluate one’s self. Therefore, in the
humanistic perspective, individuals have the opportunity and will to change their states of
mind and behavior. This study might be a guide to some certain aspect of self related studies
for other researchers to benefit accordingly and also to develop a new scale related to self
using Rogers’s theory
