The inclusion of students with disabilities in higher education can be enhanced by the university library, and in this process the importance of developing inclusive good practices is highlighted. The study presented in this thesis intends to understand the actions developed by university libraries considering the implementation and use of assistive technology / support products and to discuss their contributions to the entrance, permanence and completion of the educational paths of students with disabilities, in the context of Brazilian and Portuguese universities. Through a methodology of investigation based on the "qualitative or interpretive" paradigm, a descriptive investigation of Survey data and Multiple Case Studies, of the analytical induction type as a research method, was carried out. In order to pursue the defined objectives, several methods and techniques of data collection were used, not only as a result of the various steps taken, but also among the different participants in the research - four distinct groups, all essential for a better understanding of the phenomenon to be studied: the directors of the libraries, the directors of nuclei / offices to support the student with a disability; the librarians and the users (students with disabilities) of the Brazilian and Portuguese university libraries. The results indicate that the Brazilian and Portuguese university libraries present problems of architectural, communicational, methodological, programmatic and attitudinal accessibility. It is concluded that the Brazilian and Portuguese university libraries are not equipped with specialized services to assist disabled users. Some exceptions are highlighted in cases that provide services aimed at this type of users, but are not sufficiently significant within the universe investigated. The principals of the libraries of this study are aware of their needs and weaknesses but are open to changes in search of solutions to improve accessibility conditions in order to include users with their different needs. As suggestions for changing this reality, it is recommended that university libraries prioritize: continuing education for their library staff on accessibility and inclusion; planning of projects/actions focused on the issue of accessibility; development of collections, in accordance with current legislation, providing for the gradual acquisition of basic contents of the collection in alternative formats (such as Braille, audio and digital). There is also the search for partnerships with private or mixed capital sectors that are interested in investing in projects to include students with disabilities in higher education, among others.Programa Doutoral em Educaçã

Study on the dissemination of ethnic-racial information in a library. It is an exploratory research of a descriptive analytical nature that aims to present orientations and actions to help the teaching of African history and culture and Afro in the education of young people and Adults (EJA) by the library. It adopts bibliographic, documental and field research as a methodology; And, semi-structured interview applied to the teachers ' team and questionnaire applied to a group of students from a school in the state public network of Maranhão. It conceives the library as a place of inclusion, preservation, resistance and dissemination of the memory of a people, responsible, therefore, for combating prejudice, discrimination, hierarchization of cultures through the integration of the school, curriculum, teacher and Students and their social, cultural and religious experiences, among others. It emphasizes the importance of the selection and acquisition of printed and electronic sources of information that deconstruct the idea of Eurocentric supremacy adopted in the EJA, prioritizing the studies and polls of users to identify their needs Informational. It highlights as guiding elements of the study the current legislation, based on the historical, social and anthropological dimensions and of the popular Freirean education that considers the dialogue between formal education and the experience of the student's world (Indians, blacks, Elderly, young people, adults, among others. It proposes, in this direction, the following activities to help the pedagogical tract of the theme by the Library: a) addressing the situation of ethnic-racial diversity and daily life, through cartoons and other resources that critically reflect facts of Discrimination of the Negro in the day-to-day; b) Recognizing and valuing the contributions of the black people in culture, literature, dance, cooking, fashion, among others; c) to combat ethnocentric postures for the deconstruction of prejudice and stereotypes of the black people – adopting as a strategy the realization of thematic projects through anti-racist terminology involving concepts such as: "Africanity", " Afro-Descendants "," ancestry "," racial discrimination "," diversity "," stereotype "," ethnicity/ethnic group "," Identity "," prejudice "," racial segregation "," xenophobia "and others; and d) refuse the use of material that reinforces and naturalizes the ethnocentric posture of prejudice, researching in printed material or electronic symbols of African culture from materials such as: commented bibliography, for example, of the book (Citizenship in Black and White), videos (narrators of Javé and Vista to my skin), documentaries (Boy 23), music, woven with print with elements of African culture, among others. It concludes that there is legislation that helps and guides the inclusion of the thematic of ethnic-racial diversity in the curricula of education in the country; And that EJA is an educative and non-compensatory policy, which is an acceleration of studies for subjects of law and not favors. However, there is a lack of more proactive attitudes developed by the library to combat prejudice and stereotypes about the black people; Lack of products/services directed to this group of users (EJA); The availability and reading of information focused on local, regional, national and global resources that expose students to experiences on cultural diversity. It is hoped that the actions and orientations proposed in the study serve to awaken new directions and research approaches in the bibliotheconomia

The standardization of apiceutical products like as propolis extracts has been widely debated worldwide and variations in the propolis chemical composition are still very relevant topics for use-standardized of different propolis-type as medication by much of the world’s population. The present manuscript discuss important issues related to the climate effect and variations in propolis metabolite-profiling changes, antioxidant capacity and variations of the antibacterial activity of the Brazilian red propolis metabolites using comprehensive multivariate correlations. It was observed the increasing of guttiferones concentrations during the intense drought period and drastic decreasing in rainy period. The climate variation induced the high concentration of flavonoids in rainy period with pronounced dropped in some rainy months. The Pearson´s analysis demonstrated correlation between IC50 from DPPH and guttiferones and flavonoids concentrations. The PCA-X and Hotelling T2 test showed outliers during the months with lowest concentrations of formononetin and isoliquiritigenin was observed in antibacterial tests. The PLS-DA, OPLS-DA and VIP analysis demonstrate guttiferone E, guttiferone B, liquiritigenin, naringenin are considered important substances responsible by anti-staphylococcal activity in red propolis composition during the rainy season and drought period, but a synergistic effect with other flavonoids and isoflavonoids are not ruled out

BackgroundScant studies have examined alcohol consumption among transgender women in Latin America. This cross-sectional study estimated the prevalence and associated factors of risky alcohol use among transgender women in Goiás, a state located in the center of Brazil.MethodsParticipants were 440 transgender women (median age = 35 years, interquartile range = 9) recruited through respondent-driven sampling. All participants were interviewed about sociodemographic characteristics, violence, and risk behavior. Alcohol use was assessed using the alcohol use disorders identification test (AUDIT). An AUDIT score greater than or equal to eight was considered as risky alcohol consumption. Logistic regression analysis was used to examine predictors of risky alcohol use, and p-values <0.05 were considered significant.ResultsThe majority were young, single, sex workers. Most transgender women had used alcohol in the previous year (85.7%), and more than half (56.6%) reported binge drinking and risky alcohol consumption (60.2%). There was a high overlap between sexual behavior, drugs, and alcohol use. Using alcohol during sex (adjusted odds ratio [aOR]: 2.9; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.7–4.8), cocaine/crack use (aOR: 2.3; 95% CI: 1.5–3.7) and having a drug user as a sexual partner (aOR: 2.9; 95% CI: 1.5–5.9) were independently associated with risky alcohol consumption.ConclusionAlcohol consumption was highly prevalent, and drugs seem to play an important role in risky alcohol consumption among transgender women Goiás. These findings support stakeholders to promote intervention strategies to reduce this pattern of alcohol consumption and reduce the burden of substance use disorders among transgender women
