Integrating Corporate Social Responsability Programs into the Ethical Dimension of the Organization

The purpose of this paper is to indicate the need to integrate corporate social responsibility programs into the global ethical vision of organizations. Such an approach requires the definition of the corporation in relation to the moral values it assumes and the ways in which moral values occur within the organization. SOME STATISTICAL RESULTS REGARDING THE EVALUATION OF THE QUALITY OF THE MASTER EDUCATION

The article emphasizes aspects regarding the evaluation of the higher educationï¿1/2s quality. In certain countries, the questionnaires regarding quality of the activity of HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) are administrated by specialized institutions led by the Ministry of Education or the university associations. The evaluation principles derive from well-known economic and social theories, evolving even evaluation models (see the SERVQUAL model). As a result of the Bologna Treaty (1999), the European Union has the objective to become an international reference concerning the higher education quality and to be more attractive than in the present for students, professors and researchers from other regions of the world. So as to fulfill these objectives ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) recommends HEIs to include in their development plans regarding quality aspects five principles described in the article. The practical study refers to the results of a questionnaire applied to the master business students from a Romanian university. In order to assess the level of satisfaction of students in relation to the master programme they are involved in, a questionnaire was applied on a sample of 200 such persons. The responses were then analyzed using multidimensional data analysis methods. Out of these, the present research is based on multiple response analysis. In the questionnaire, students were asked to return their level of satisfaction for different aspects related to the educational process they are involved in. The questions were constructed as five-level Likert items. In this way was insured a connection between answers given at each of the questions assessing the quality of the programme. Only 0.2% of the answers given relate to aspects about which the students were not satisfied at all. These answers represent 3.2% of the number of respondents. 30% of the students were slightly satisfied, returning 57 choices of this type. As one can see, the volume of each group increases with the level of satisfaction. About the Romanian Tourism Potential: The Natural Strengths of the Main Tourist Destinations

The tourism industry plays a more and more important role in the world economy, and is generally acknowledged to represent a significant source of economic growth for the European Union (EU), as well as for our country. In order to highlight the Romanian tourism potential and the necessity to turn this potential into actual sources of income for the national economy this paper presents a few aspects of the evolution’s tourism in Europe and Romania, also some particularities of the main Romanian tourist destinations. The paper aims to reveal those “natural strengths” that provide the basis for both diversification and differentiation the Romanian tourism offer so as to satisfy the various requirements of the tourists and to compete successfully in the different segments of the international tourism market.

Exploring the Potential of Mentoring Programs for Public Sector Management

A major challenge facing Romania, as a new member of the European Union (EU), is the implementation of Public Administration Reform. Among the significant supporting initiatives it can mention the project Young Professionals Scheme launched in 2003 that includes mentoring as a basic component of training Romanian public managers under this scheme. On the other hand, an extended documentary research on recent international approaches of mentoring in public sector allowed us to note a considerable gap relative to other sectors and relative to the situation of implementing government mentoring programs in EU countries and in other countries such as USA, Canada, or Australia. Against this background our paper attempts to point out why and how mentoring programs could and should be used not only as a component of initial training of public managers, but also as a current managerial practice for ensuring continuity and sustainability of the reform in Romania.public administration reform, civil service, public manager, mentoring, government mentoring programs.

Finite Element Method Study on Stress State in Soil Induced by Agricultural Traffic

In general, when a tyre is running on a deformable soil, the soil compaction will occur not only on surface layers, but also on soil profile, in deeper layers. This leads to a series of negative effects not only on physical and mechanical properties of soil, but also influences the crops growth and the crop yield. For these reasons, currently are needed solutions to reduce soil compaction, caused mainly by agricultural implements passing on the soil surface in order to aply the specific crop production technologies. From our simulation we can draw the following conclusions: the soil stresses decreased with depth; the soil displacements magnitude increased with soil water content due to lower friction forces between soil particles (water acts like a lubricant between soil particles); decreasing rate for soil displacement is influenced by load magnitude and tyre inflation pressure; the soil particles moved in vertical plain from the top to the bottom, but also in horizontal direction, from the center to the edge in cross section and in longitudinal direction; the dimensions of the geometric shape of the mentioned soil volume is influenced by load and tyre inflation pressure. In this paper the agricultural traffic and its influence on stress state in soil, it was used a software application based on Finite Element Method, that has been proved to be a useful tool for soil compaction assessment in order to find the right decisions for a proper field traffic management

Study on modernization processes in the coating metal surfaces (plain bearings) by thermal spraying

Knowledge accumulated within the metal coating through thermal spraying allows the understanding of aspects related to the coat structure phenomena, in this case of the routs that need to be followed in order to create strong and stabile connections between the coats subsided through thermal spraying, between the particles that compose those coats, respectively. However, all this knowledge does not ensure the understanding of some practical situations that are apparently paradoxes, as for instance the absence of tin bronze adherence to ignobly steel holders, the perfect adherence of bronze to the aluminum on the same types of holders, in the context in which both elements, tin and aluminum, respectively are found in equal quantity in the two type of bonze that maintain them in solid solutions (below 10%).The parallel study in the sinter antifriction domain has offered information regarding the optimal correlation between the composition of antifriction material and the required type of application, the optimal pinches level and the way that this morphological characteristic may be influenced. By experimental research it is necessary to determine the conditions under which such coverage can be obtained by thermal spraying of the metal coatings

HAITI: MUCH ATTENTION, NO RESULTS. WHY DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE DOESN’T WORK

The present paper is an excerpt, with little adaptation, from the master thesis: “Project management’s contribution to international cooperation. How to make things work: ODA in Haiti” wrote under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Horst Brezinski from Technical University Freiberg Bergakademie and Prof. Dr. Eng.. Sabina Irimie from University of Petrosani, while benefiting from an Erasmus study scholarship at the first mentioned institution. It presents the case of Haiti, a small country facing big challenges and enjoying plenty of international attention especially due to the recent earthquake that struck the country at the beginning of 2010. The SWOT analysis inside the paper offers a detailed view of Haiti’s actual situation, identifying in the same time its problems and the variables that should be taken into consideration when designing programmes and projects targeting Haiti’s development

The economic theories and the accounting regulations deriving from them should be reconsidered for SMEs. At global level, there are accomplishments in this respect – IASB IFRS for SMEs – or intentions – European Commission proposals for certain simplifications of the European directives. However, for these actions to be successful, further investigations concerning the theoretical and technical implications are necessary.
