The importance of synchronization reveals both in the practical applications that can be obtained and also in the many phenomena that can be explained by synchronization theory. In biology and medicine many systems can be modeled as oscillators or vibratory systems and those systems show a tendency towards synchronous behavior. Since 1990 chaos synchronization has been a topic of great interest as shows the most comprehensive bibliography on chaos control and synchronization. Synchronization is a fundamental process in coupled dynamical systems. This means to design a controller or interconnections that guarantee synchronization of the multi-composed systems with respect to certain desired functional. In this work a simple feed-back method of control is used to study the synchronization for two chaotic four-dimensional systems. The method offers a precise coupling for two identical oscillators. Our results show that the transient time until synchronization depends on initial conditions of two systems and on the control strength. The synchronization is fast (about 3 unities of time) when four control strengths were applied to synchronize the two identical four-dimensional systems with cubic nonlinearities (Qi system), and the initial conditions of the two systems are very closed. The graphics of MATLAB soft is used to present the synchronization of these chaotic systems

AbstractThe present paper has the following objectives: the description of the main characteristics of the approach to the offenders’ rehabilitation, based on structured group programs and the description of the effects that structured group program (“Heads or tails”) have in relation to the subjects’ resources and their willingness to reconsider their attitudes towards themselves, reality (justice, rules, customs etc.), and their positive behavioral changes. The results showed that subjects who followed this program have revised their perception on the reality, being able to make a cost-benefit analysis with a focus on a socially desirable decision

Analogy making and the structure of implied volatility skew

    Get PDF
An analogy based option pricing model is put forward. If option prices are determined in accordance with the analogy model, and the Black Scholes model is used to back-out implied volatility, then the implied volatility skew arises, which flattens as time to expiry increases. The analogy based stochastic volatility and the analogy based jump diffusion models are also put forward. The analogy based stochastic volatility model generates the skew even when there is no correlation between the stock price and volatility processes, whereas, the analogy based jump diffusion model does not require asymmetric jumps for generating the skew

Stochastic dominance option pricing : an alternative paradigm

    Get PDF
This thesis examines the pricing of options under several models with market incompleteness. The theoretical approach relies on the absence of stochastically dominating portfolios containing the underlying asset, the option and the riskless bond. The stochastic dominance approach provides two bounds on the equilibrium pricing of options by risk-averse investors. The two bounds are discounted conditional expectations of the option payoff under two probability measures. This research generalizes the previous stochastic dominance pricing results in discrete time to non-i.i.d. underlying asset return processes and to contingent claims with non-convex payoffs. The new results are then used to examine the stochastic dominance pricing bounds for several discrete and continuous time processes of the underlying asset. The continuous time bounds are obtained by constructing a sequence of discrete approximations that converge weakly to a given continuous time process. The weak convergence property provides the convergence of the two option bounds, which are discounted expectations of the option payoff. In the case of a univariate diffusion process, the two option bounds converge to a common limit. The two bounds converge to distinct limits when the underlying asset follows a jump-diffusion mixture. The non-iid stochastic dominance pricing results are then applied to the pricing of options for a LARCH specification of the underlying asset returns. The two stochastic dominance bounds are obtained both for conditional normal and non-normal returns. The impact of the model estimation error is examined by generating a return sample from a known model and computing the stochastic dominance bounds implied by several estimated models

The Donation Act of Hagi Constantin Pop’s Family for the Annunciation Church in Sibiu

    No full text
This article presents an important document relating to the history of an Orthodox church in Sibiu (Biserica din Groapă), whose construction was possible due to the support provided by the family of the wealthy Macedonian-Romanian merchant Hagi Constantin Pop, at the beginning of the nineteenth century. After a thorough description of the document, we will provide both the German transcription and the English translation of the text. The notes and comments that accompany the document are meant to shed light upon the historical context in which the church was raised and to emphasize the importance of the document, which is the oldest one preserved in the archives of the Annunciation Church. The document mentions the gift of charity by the widow of Hagi Constantin Pop, whereby the land on which the church, its surrounding cemetery, the parish house, and the Romanian school were built would become the property of the Orthodox Church. Thus, the document presents the circumstances under which the patrimony of the foundation patronized by the members of Hagi Constantin Pop’s family was constituted. That foundation continued to administer the patrimony of the Annunciation Church until the establishment of the Communist regime in Romania

This article presents the context that led to the establishment of the probation system in Romania, on the background of undertaking of some reforms of the criminal sanctions system. The necessity of achieving them was represented by the difficulties faced by the penitentiary system before and after 1989, but also by the need to align the administration of penalties to the requirements imposed by the country‘s accession to the Council of Europe and the European Union. Eighteen years after the creation of the probation system within the Ministry of Justice, it can be stated that, this endeavor constitutes a success, but it is absolutely necessary to continue the efforts towards its consolidation. In addition, these measures have to be accompanied by a change of vision in relation to how other community members can be involved in the process of social reintegration of persons in conflict with the criminal law. This article presents the context that led to the establishment of the probation system in Romania in relation to some reforms of the criminal sanctioning system. These reforms were necessary because of the difficulties faced by the penitentiary system before and after 1989, as well as the need to align the administration of penalties with the requirements imposed by the country’s accession to the Council of Europe and the European Union. Eighteen years after the creation of the probation system within the Ministry of Justice, it can be stated that this endeavour constitutes a success, but it is absolutely necessary to continue the efforts towards consolidating it. In addition, these measures have to be accompanied by a change of vision in relation to how other community members can be involved in the process of social reintegration of individuals who have broken the law.

Abstract: The paper is intended to make an analysis of the way in which the public opinion and the magistrates from the penal law system relate to the community sanctions and measures, within the context in which several international regulations highlight the necessity to implement these community sanctions and measures extensively in the domestic legislation of the member states. The paper also shows the importance of the political factor in the practical implementation of the regulations and the way in which the governmental decision factors influence the perception at the level of the public opinion and of the magistrates

Influence of Convective and Vacuum-Type Drying on Quality, Microstructural, Antioxidant and Thermal Properties of Pretreated Boletus edulis Mushrooms

Freshly harvested Boletus edulis mushrooms are subjected to rapid loss of quality due to the high moisture content and enzymatic activity. Drying time, quality characteristics, microstructural and thermal properties were studied in mushrooms ground to puree subjected to hot air drying (HAD), freeze drying (FD) and centrifugal vacuum drying (CVD). The influence of hot water blanching and UV-C pretreatments was additionally investigated. The rehydration ability of mushroom powders was improved by FD, especially without pretreatment or combined to UV-C exposure. The HAD and CVD, with no pretreatment or combined to UV-C, ensured good preservation of phenolics and antioxidant activity of dried mushrooms. The total difference in color of mushroom pigments extracted in acetone was lower in samples dried by CVD and higher in ones by FD. Blanching before HAD produced whiter product probably due to the reduced polyphenoloxidase activity. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis showed fewer physical changes in FD-samples. Heat-induced structural changes were noticed by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetry (TG) and Derivative Thermogravimetry (DTG) analysis, in particular of biopolymers, confirmed by ATR-FTIR analysis. Based on our complex approach, the UV pretreatment of mushrooms could be a better alternative to water blanching. Centrifugal vacuum emerged as a new efficient drying method in terms of bioactive compounds, color and thermal stability, while FD led to better rehydration ability and microstructure

Analysis of the Physiognomy of Unique Sets in the Maximum Number of Repetitions Strategy—The Case of One-Arm Scott Machine Seated Bicep Curls

    No full text
The aim of this paper is to analyze the physiognomy of unique sets in the maximum number of repetitions (MNR) strategy and different correlations between the maximal forces, duration and volume for a relevant exercise in the case of a small muscle group. The research methodology proposes testing, in two phases, a total of 30 male students, for bicep curl exercises carried out on a bicep Scott machine. The obtained results showed that there were significant differences between the maximum forces (Fmax) developed during the initial and final repetitions of the exercise sets or for different machine loads. There was a large correlation between the load and Fmax and an inverse correlation between the load and MNR or between the MNR and Fmax. The deterioration of the execution mode, represented by the profile of the final repetition of high-duration sets, was also tested and analyzed. We concluded that the study of the physiognomy of cycles and comparisons at the level of relevant repetitions have revealed new perspectives for the design of periodization strategies, for the possibility of manipulating adapted muscular response or compensatory acceleration training for small muscle groups or the MNR strategy

Using new digital technologies in employee training to avoid occupational accidents in the industry

The most frequent workplace accidents in the industry are most of the times caused by the employer’s failure to fulfill their obligation to provide appropriate on-the-job training. Starting from this state of affairs, this paper analyzes the main cause of workplace accidents in the industry, which is the lack of training, or incomplete or inadequate training of employees, a situation indicated by the latest studies and the latest activity report of Labor Inspectorate. The solution identified by most employers was to use the online environment, this being the only way that allows the achievement of both of the aforementioned objectives at the same time. In this context, the paper identifies and proposes the use of the online environment, especially in the process of distance training of workers, giving them the opportunity to receive training documents, to analyze them, to electronically sign them and send them to the employer in electronic format. This proposal of supplementing the current legislation with the possibility of using the online environment in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS) also takes into account other categories of benefits that this solution brings, such as streamlining OHS and optimizing costs incurred in fulfilling these legal obligations
