    Ingression orthodontique sur mini-vis d’ancrage

    No full text

Plant Responses to Simultaneous Biotic and Abiotic Stress: Molecular Mechanisms

    No full text
Plants are constantly confronted to both abiotic and biotic stresses that seriously reduce their productivity. Plant responses to these stresses are complex and involve numerous physiological, molecular, and cellular adaptations. Recent evidence shows that a combination of abiotic and biotic stress can have a positive effect on plant performance by reducing the susceptibility to biotic stress. Such an interaction between both types of stress points to a crosstalk between their respective signaling pathways. This crosstalk may be synergistic and/or antagonistic and include among others the involvement of phytohormones, transcription factors, kinase cascades, and reactive oxygen species (ROS). In certain cases, such crosstalk can lead to a cross-tolerance and enhancement of a plant’s resistance against pathogens. This review aims at giving an insight into cross-tolerance between abiotic and biotic stress, focusing on the molecular level and regulatory pathways

Quality Evaluation and Functional Properties of Reduced Sugar Jellies Formulated from Citrus Fruits

In Tunisia, despite the large annual production and the numerous citrus varieties under cultivation, citrus processing industries lack product diversity. Products based on dietary properties are a new trend aiming to develop innovative foods and to meet the requirements of the new customer class. In the present study, formulations of reduced sugar jelly products using antioxidant rich-fruit, citrus, were carried out. The effects of citrus juices on the jelly’s antioxidant properties, colour, consistency, and sensory evaluation were also investigated. Results showed that all citrus jellies maintain their antioxidant activity, correlated with phenolic content presence. In fact, total phenolic contents ranged between 123.16 and 192.76 mg GAE/100 g, while flavonoid content varied between 1.54 and 9.06 mg QE/100 g for grapefruit jelly and blood orange jelly, respectively. Results illustrated that antioxidant activity varies according to the variety. A sensory evaluation employing hedonic scale technique exhibited satisfactory acceptance of the reduced sugar blood orange and blond maltase jellies. These results highlight and promote the potential use of these citrus varieties in jelly industry as they present a rich source of phenolic compounds and may generate numerous phytochemicals with potential health promoting properties

    No full text

Fraction of Exhaled Nitric Oxide (Fe NO ) Norms in Healthy Tunisian Adults

Aims. To establish Fe NO norms for healthy Tunisian adults aged 18-60 years and to prospectively assess their reliability. Methods. This was a cross-sectional analytical study. A convenience sample of healthy Tunisian adults was recruited. Subjects responded to a medical questionnaire, and then Fe NO levels were measured by an online method (Medisoft, Sorinnes (Dinant), Belgium). Clinical, anthropometric, and plethysmographic data were collected. All analyses were performed on natural logarithm values of Fe NO . Results. 257 adults (145 males) were retained. The proposed reference equation to predict Fe NO value is lnFe NO (ppb) = 3.47−0.56× height (m). After the predicted Fe NO value for a given adult was computed, the upper limit of normal could be obtained by adding 0.60 ppb. The mean ± SD (minimum-maximum) of Fe NO (ppb) for the total sample was 13.54 ± 4.87 (5.00-26.00). For Tunisian and Arab adults of any age and height, any Fe NO value greater than 26.00 ppb may be considered abnormal. Finally, in an additional group of adults prospectively assessed, we found no adult with a Fe NO higher than 26.00 ppb. Conclusion. The present Fe NO norms enrich the global repository of Fe NO norms that the clinician can use to choose the most appropriate norms

Acquired elastotic hemangioma: A diagnosis to keep in mind

    No full text
Acquired elastotic hemangioma is a relatively newly described cutaneous lesion that presents a characteristic clinicopathologic feature and which should be distinguished from other cutaneous vascular proliferations. Only 10 cases have been reported in literature. We herein describe another case of acquired elastotic hemangioma occurring in the cheek of a 64 year old woman
