Homophobia is online: sexual victimization and risks on the internet and mental health among bisexual, homosexual, pansexual, asexual, and queer adolescents
The first aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence and frequency of different forms of online sexual victimization and risks among sexual minorities, including sexting, sexual orientation- and gender-based victimization, unwanted sexual attention, sextortion, and revenge porn. The second aim was to examine whether online sexual victimization and risks mediate the relationship between being a sexual minority and mental health outcomes, including depression and anxiety. The sample was composed of 1779 adolescents (50.9% girls) between 12 and 18 years old (mean age = 13.92, SD = 1.27), and 146 of them (8.2%) were sexual minorities (specifically, bisexual, homosexual, pansexual, asexual, or queer adolescents). About 17.3% of sexual minority adolescents have sent a sext. Four out of ten adolescents (41.1%) had experienced online sexual orientation discrimination and 28.4% gender-based victimization. More than forty percent (45.2%) experienced unwanted sexual attention, 9% were victims of sextortion, and 5.5% had been targets of revenge porn. Sexting, online sexual orientation victimization and gender-based victimization, and unwanted sexual attention partially mediated the relationship between being a sexual minority and mental health outcomes (i.e., depression and anxiety). More prevention programs aimed to reduce online sexual victimization and risks for sexual minorities are neededFunding for this study was provided by Ministerio de Ciencia e

Spectral evolution of long-period fiber grating during written process and their influence in the sensitivity
The peak loss wavelength shift, attenuation and bandwidth values on a LPG during the UV multi-pass writing process can be used to estimate the LPG sensitivities in real-time during the fabrication task
New method for previsional design of fabrication process of LPG’s with a given sensitivity
A theoretical-experimental based method able to design in advance the fabrication process for a given sensitivity (temperature, strain, surround index, ...) is proposed. Previous and proper characterization of the LPG specific fabrication technique is required
safety and efficacy of fidaxomicin and vancomycin in children and adolescents with clostridioides clostridium difficile infection a phase 3 multicenter randomized single blind clinical trial sunshine
Abstract
Background
Fidaxomicin, a narrow-spectrum antibiotic approved for Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile infection (CDI) in adults, is associated with lower rates of recurrence than vancomycin; however, pediatric data are limited. This multicenter, investigator-blind, phase 3, parallel-group trial assessed the safety and efficacy of fidaxomicin in children.
Methods
Patients aged <18 years with confirmed CDI were randomized 2:1 to 10 days of treatment with fidaxomicin (suspension or tablets, twice daily) or vancomycin (suspension or tablets, 4 times daily). Safety assessments included treatment-emergent adverse events. The primary efficacy end point was confirmed clinical response (CCR), 2 days after the end of treatment (EOT). Secondary end points included global cure (GC; CCR without CDI recurrence) 30 days after EOT (end of study; EOS). Plasma and stool concentrations of fidaxomicin and its active metabolite OP-1118 were measured.
Results
Of 148 patients randomized, 142 were treated (30 <2 years old). The proportion of participants with treatment-emergent adverse events was similar with fidaxomicin (73.5%) and vancomycin (75.0%). Of 3 deaths in the fidaxomicin arm during the study, none were CDI or treatment related. The rate of CCR at 2 days after EOT was 77.6% (76 of 98 patients) with fidaxomicin and 70.5% (31 of 44) with vancomycin, whereas the rate of GC at EOS was significantly higher in participants receiving fidaxomicin (68.4% vs 50.0%; adjusted treatment difference, 18.8%; 95% confidence interval, 1.5%–35.3%). Systemic absorption of fidaxomicin and OP-1118 was minimal, and stool concentrations were high.
Conclusions
Compared with vancomycin, fidaxomicin was well tolerated and demonstrated significantly higher rates of GC in children and adolescents with CDI.

Transductor de fibra óptica para la medida de altas temperaturas
The quality of the iron steel bars made on the steel production industry, among other, depends on the temperature profile during the cooling and solidifying process. A new multipoint high temperature transducer based on the optical power collected by a group of multimode optical fibers has been developed for measuring the transversal cooling profile. The optic fibers are adequately sheathed by a ceramic mixture in order to achieve its mechanical and thermal protection. Besides in order to use the transducer in pollution environments, the probe is putted inside of a close chamber with a window made with a vitreous ceramic material. The use of silica fiber optic limits the spectral range to analyze, and the measured temperature range. The behavior of the transducer from the angle, the distance and the change of emissivity have been measured, and the transducer has been optimized. The transducer was calibrated in the Photonics Engineering Group laboratory and it was installed in a iron-steel bar manufacturing plant in Spain where it is working high relative humidity and high temperature environment
Sensibilidad de fibras de cristal fotónico con sus parámetros estructurales: su aplicación en sensores
We present the application of photonic crystal fibers (PCF) as sensors. For it will be studied the influence of the structural parameters in the fiber (period and hole diameter) with respect to its sensitivity. The effective index will be calculated for different values of these parameters with respect to the normalized frequency. We will have as a result the optimum values that should be used for this application. Finally in this paper, we will show how to use the results to achieve a sensor based on PCF as well as the measuring external parameters ought to influence over the fibre
