    Until the root causes of conflict in the region are addressed there will not be enduring peace, security and stability in the Niger Delta environment. Armed robbery, kidnapping and crude oil theft has been the order of the day.     The study seeks to capture the impact and challenges of the six year old amnesty programme in post-conflict Niger Delta region. As part of a larger project titled “Amnesty for peace in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria” in-depth interviews with youths, leaders, community members, elders and relatives of ex-militants were carried out. Section 175 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria granted unconditional pardon to all persons who participated in the commission of offences associated with militant activities in the region.
