Exact Analysis of Soliton Dynamics in Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates
We propose an integrable model of a multicomponent spinor Bose-Einstein
condensate in one dimension, which allows an exact description of the dynamics
of bright solitons with spin degrees of freedom. We consider specifically an
atomic condensate in the F=1 hyperfine state confined by an optical dipole
trap. When the mean-field interaction is attractive (c_0 < 0) and the
spin-exchange interaction of a spinor condensate is ferromagnetic (c_2 < 0), we
prove that the system possesses a completely integrable point leading to the
existence of multiple bright solitons. By applying results from the inverse
scattering method, we analyze a collision law for two-soliton solutions and
find that the dynamics can be explained in terms of the spin precession.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
One-Dimensional Integrable Spinor BECs Mapped to Matrix Nonlinear Schr\"odinger Equation and Solution of Bogoliubov Equation in These Systems
In this short note, we construct mappings from one-dimensional integrable
spinor BECs to matrix nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation, and solve the
Bogoliubov equation of these systems. A map of spin- BEC is constructed from
the -dimensional spinor representation of irreducible tensor operators of

Teacher–Artist Partnership Framework Within School Makerspaces to Foster Students’ Creativity
Creativity is a fundamental skill to prepare individuals to work and live in a changing world. Educators have recognised its value and advocate that schools can provide an environment for fostering the creative thinking skills of students. Makerspaces are emerging in school contexts, and they carry great opportunities for engaging students in creative thinking processes. The school makerspace also offers a professional learning space for teachers and artists to collaborate to support students’ creative potential through making activities linked to the curriculum. This paper proposes a teacher–artist partnership framework within the makerspace to support mutual professional growth and opportunities to foster a learning environment conducive to creative expressions. The framework consists of three non-linear and iterative processes, namely (a) developing craft knowledge, (b) co-constructing knowledge, and (c) reflection and researching, supported by a community of practice and internal and external communities. Expected outcomes from the partnership for students, teachers and artists, and recommendations are discussed
Effects of mechanical rotation on spin currents
We study the Pauli--Schr\"odinger equation in a uniformly rotating frame of
reference to describe a coupling of spins and mechanical rotations. The
explicit form of the spin-orbit interaction (SOI) with the inertial effects due
to the mechanical rotation is presented. We derive equations of motion for a
wavepacket of electrons in two-dimensional planes subject to the SOI. The
solution is a superposition of two cyclotron motions with different frequencies
and a circular spin current is created by the mechanical rotation.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
Multicomponent Bright Solitons in F = 2 Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates
We study soliton solutions for the Gross--Pitaevskii equation of the spinor
Bose--Einstein condensates with hyperfine spin F=2 in one-dimension. Analyses
are made in two ways: by assuming single-mode amplitudes and by generalizing
Hirota's direct method for multi-components. We obtain one-solitons of
single-peak type in the ferromagnetic, polar and cyclic states, respectively.
Moreover, twin-peak type solitons both in the ferromagnetic and the polar state

Application of liquid chromatography in substitution of the radioimmunoassay technique in order to reduce residues generated in health services in research laboratory
Designing a Health Care Service Waste Management Plan, according to the RDC 306 rules, is a responsibility of all those who produce such waste. Since radioimmunoassay (RIA) is one of the most employed techniques, we studied the impact of replacing this technique by liquid chromatography (HPLC) with regard to the reduction of the radioactive residues routinely produced by the UNIFESP steroid laboratory. The residues produced by the determination of serum cortisol and 17 α-hydroxyprogesterone were classified, and those belonging to groups B and C were evaluated. We observed that, when RIA is used, chemical residues (group B) and radioactive waste (group C) are produced, whereas HPLC generates only chemical residues. Adequation of these techniques showed to be advantageous, by significantly reducing the time of analysis and mainly by eliminating and/or reducing the generation of radioactive waste, encouraging its application to other methodologies, as well as its adoption by other research units.A elaboração do Plano de Gerenciamento dos Resíduos dos Serviços de Saúde, normatizado na RDC nº 306/2004, é de responsabilidade de todos os geradores. Sendo o radioimunoensaio (RIE) uma das técnicas mais empregadas, estudou-se o impacto da substituição dessa técnica por cromatografia líquida (HPLC), no aspecto da redução na geração de resíduos radioativos na rotina do Laboratório de Esteróides da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). Os resíduos gerados nas determinações de cortisol e 17α-hidroxiprogesterona séricos foram classificados, e aqueles pertencentes aos grupos B e C foram avaliados. Observou-se que no emprego de RIE há geração de resíduos químicos (grupo B) e rejeitos radioativos (grupo C), enquanto no HPLC gerou-se apenas resíduos químicos. Brazilian Version of the Foot Health Status Questionnaire (FHSQ-Br): Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Evaluation of Measurement Properties
OBJECTIVE: To conduct a cross-cultural adaptation of the Foot Health Status Questionnaire into Brazilian-Portuguese and to assess its measurement properties. INTRODUCTION: This instrument is an outcome measure with 10 domains with scores ranging from 0-100, worst to best, respectively. The translated instrument will improve the examinations and foot care of rheumatoid arthritis patients. METHODS: The questions were translated, back-translated, evaluated by a multidisciplinary committee and pre-tested (n = 40 rheumatoid arthritis subjects). The new version was submitted to a field test (n = 65) to evaluate measurement properties such as test-retest reliability, internal consistency and construct validity. The Health Assessment Questionnaire, Numeric Rating Scale for foot pain and Sharp/van der Heijde scores for foot X-rays were used to test the construct validity. RESULTS: The cross-cultural adaptation was completed with minor wording adaptations from the original instrument. The evaluation of measurement properties showed high reliability with low variation coefficients between interviews. The a-Cronbach coefficients varied from 0.468 to 0.855, while correlation to the Health Assessment Questionnaire and Numeric Rating Scale was statistically significant for five out of eight domains. DISCUSSION: Intra- and inter-observer correlations showed high reliability. Internal consistency coefficients were high for all domains, revealing higher values for less subjective domains. As for construct validity, each domain revealed correlations with a specific group of parameters according to what the domains intended to measure. CONCLUSION: The FHSQ was cross-culturally adapted, generating a reliable, consistent, and valid instrument that is useful for evaluating foot health in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
