The effect of the skin-core structure of injection-molded isotactic polypropylene on the stress distribution in bending tests

We examine the effect of the skin-core structure of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) in bending tests. The depth-dependent material properties are determined in tensile tests and mapped to a finite element model. This enables the examination of internal stresses during bending numerically. In a bending test, one usually expects a monotonic stress distribution across the thickness, provided that the material is homogeneous and does not strain-soften. We found that the structural gradient of injection-molded iPP easily overcompensates the monotonic stress dependence, such that the maximal equivalent von Mises stress lies well below the surface in the so called shear layer. The latter is a result of the injection molding process

[For the English abstract and full text of the article please see the attached PDF-File (English version follows Russian version)].ABSTRACT The article presents the results of a research in the field of modeling of transport culture of population, particularly based on R. Smeed’s law modifications. Using experimental data analysis it was found that behavior of citizens on the roads is determined primarily by the level of motorization in the region. The proposed basic model of transport culture of population allows us to solve a number o f problems associated with implementation of federal and regional programs of road safety. Keywords: transport, road safety, transport culture of population, model, transport risk, social risk, level of motorization.

Theory and Practice of Quantitative Assessment of System Harmonicity: Case of Road Safety in Russia before and During the COVID-19 Epidemic

People have had an interest in harmony issues for thousands of years; however, there is still no elaborated system of views on these questions. Ancient Greeks understood harmony as an agreement of opposites. A surge of interest in the study of the harmonic aspects of being occurred in the twentieth century due to the development of systems science, particularly regarding synergetic system effects. At the same time, there are still relatively few applications of synergetics because of the absence of an accurate methodology for the identification of system harmonicity. The aim of this research is to develop the methodology for the quantitative assessment of system harmonicity by considering a practical example: the quantitative assessment of the harmonicity of the road safety provision system (RSS) and its dynamics during the last 15 years (2006–2020). In addition, the impact of the COVID restrictions on population mobility in Russia in 2020, on the change in the harmonicity of the road safety provision system, is considered. During the research it was established that the quality factor g of the Russian road safety provision system changed from g2006 = 1.9565 to g2020 = 2.4646, which promoted the decline of the relative entropy of the Russian road safety provision system from Hn RSS2006 = 0.8623 to Hn RSS2020 = 0.7553. The deep reason for that change was the modification of relation between “weights” or the significance of the contribution of different elements of the cause-and-effect chain in the formation of the factual level of the road accident rate in Russia in the last 15 years. The main conclusion of this research is that the harmonicity of the Russian road safety provision system, assessed by the normalized functional general utility GUn, has been increased, and it has already exceeded the level of harmonious reference systems GUn = 0.618. In fact, the normalized functional general utility GUn of the Russian road safety provision system increased from GUn RSS 2006 = 0.615 to GUn RSS 2020 = 0.652 (by 6.0%), from 2006 to 2020. Simultaneously, the share of the normalized used resource Xn declined, allowing a conclusion to be drawn about a significant improvement in the balance “efficiency-quality” of the Russian road safety provision system. The COVID lockdown played a positive role in this process. Harmonicity of the Russian road safety provision system, assessed by the normalized general utility GUn RSS, increased by 0.46% from 2019 to 2020. © 2021 by the authors. Purpose: evaluation of efficacy of operative treatment with the use of screw and hybrid metal constructions in idiopathic scoliosis associated with severe spine deformities. Material and methods: The outcomes of treatment of 34 patients aged 15 to 27 years old with severe scoliosisoperated on using screw metal constructions, were reviewed. 22 patients operated on with the use of hybrid metal constructions, made a control group. The groups were compared by the following parameters: pre- and postoperative Cobb angle, deformity mobility according to traction test, total sagittal/frontal balance, CT apical vertebra rotation, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, the number of instrumented vertebrae, and correction failure at 24-hr spondylograms. Results: Group A (screw spine fixation) demonstrated better outcomes compared to group B (combined spine fixation) in the following parameters. Postoperative correction was 48% and 41%;apical vertebra rotation decreased from 78° to 55° (30%) and from 74° to 59°(21%);total sagittal/frontal balance decreased from 39/25 mmto 14/12 mm (64/52%) and from 35/26 mm to 16/15 mm (55/43%), correspondingly. These results suggest better trunk compensation and postoperative correction in a group of patients with screw fixation. Smaller values of correction failure of the main arc as well as insignificant increase of thoracic kyphosis in the postoperative period (24 months) 3.8%/4.3% in group A compared to 6.2%/7.5% in group B testify to greater reliability and stability of ‘all screw’ metal constructions. The number of fixed elements was on average one more in a group with combined fixation (13 and 14, correspondingly)

Comparative research of orderliness dinamics of road safety systems in the volga federal district and the Russian Federation

This article considers the issues of dynamics of road safety provision systems in three multiscaled systems (Russia, Volga Federal District or VFD and separate subjects of VFD). The indicator of relative information entropy Hn of road safety provision process was taken as the characteristic of system orderliness. The ideology, methodics and results of quantitative assessment of road safety provision systems information entropy H were considered. Time series of modification of relative information entropy Hn of road safety provision systems in 2004...2018 in Russia, Volga Federal District and individual subjects of VFD were presented. Special attention was paid to consideration of the researched process in the Orenburg region and Samara region. This regions is characterized by non-standard, different from general trend dynamics of information entropy H of road safety provision system. The general conclusion of the article is that during last 15 years information entropy of road safety provision systems significantly decreased, i.e. orderliness of formation process of road traffic participants safety greatly increased. However, results achieved in this sphere by VFD regions are still far from best world results. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

© Medwell Journals, 2017. Study considers to the modeling of wholesale energy markets in the context of implementation of the roadmap. We use a comprehensive simulation model to study the influence of structural factors on the development of national and regional energy. In addition, we evaluate the impact of the generating companies specifically its impact on prices, offers and sales of electric power on the market without a reaction from competitors. The results of the study are discussed in relation to the road map in energy. Our findings are also applicable to wholesale energy markets, the EU and Russia

Informational - Entropic Analysis of Dynamics of Road Safety Orderliness

The article considers issues of identification of all-Russian and regional (on the example of Kemerovo region) road safety provision (RSP) systems orderliness. Research presents methods of identification of road safety provision system orderliness. The main idea of this methodic is the calculation of relative entropy of formation process of final result of cause-effect chain «Population - The number of vehicles - The number of road accidents - The number of victims - The number of deaths in road accidents» performance. Statistics of road accident rate during 2004...2018 was analyzed for the calculation of relative entropy. The result of research concludes that the level or road safety provision system increases in Russia generally and Kemerovo region specifically. Meanwhile the development of this process in Kemerovo region lags relatively to all-Russian one. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
