Hollowgraphy Driven Holography: Black Hole with Vanishing Volume Interior
Hawking-Bekenstein entropy formula seems to tell us that no quantum degrees
of freedom can reside in the interior of a black hole. We suggest that this is
a consequence of the fact that the volume of any interior sphere of finite
surface area simply vanishes. Obviously, this is not the case in general
relativity. However, we show that such a phenomenon does occur in various
gravitational theories which admit a spontaneously induced general relativity.
In such theories, due to a phase transition (one parameter family degenerates)
which takes place precisely at the would have been horizon, the recovered
exterior Schwarzschild solution connects, by means of a self-similar transition
profile, with a novel 'hollow' interior exhibiting a vanishing spatial volume
and a locally varying Newton constant. This constitutes the so-called
'hollowgraphy' driven holography.Comment: Honorable Mention Essay - Gravity Research Foundation (2010
Rippled Cosmological Dark Matter from Damped Oscillating Newton Constant
Let the reciprocal Newton 'constant' be an apparently non-dynamical
Brans-Dicke scalar field damped oscillating towards its General Relativistic
VEV. We show, without introducing additional matter fields or dust, that the
corresponding cosmological evolution averagely resembles, in the Jordan frame,
the familiar dark radiation -> dark matter -> dark energy domination sequence.
The fingerprints of our theory are fine ripples, hopefully testable, in the FRW
scale factor; they die away at the General Relativity limit. The possibility
that the Brans-Dicke scalar also serves as the inflaton is favorably examined.Comment: RevTex4, 12 pages, 5 figures; Minor revision, References adde
On the Properties of Two Pulses Propagating Simultaneously in Different Dispersion Regimes in a Nonlinear Planar Waveguide
Properties of two pulses propagating simultaneously in different dispersion
regimes, anomalous and normal, in a Kerr-type planar waveguide are studied in
the framework of the nonlinear Schroedinger equation. Catastrophic
self-focusing and spatio-temporal splitting of the pulses is investigated. For
the limiting case when the dispersive term of the pulse propagating in the
normal dispersion regime can be neglected an indication of a possibility of a
stable self-trapped propagation of both pulses is obtained.Comment: 18 pages (including 15 eps figures
Inflation and late time acceleration in braneworld cosmological models with varying brane tension
Braneworld models with variable brane tension introduce a new
degree of freedom that allows for evolving gravitational and cosmological
constants, the latter being a natural candidate for dark energy. We consider a
thermodynamic interpretation of the varying brane tension models, by showing
that the field equations with variable can be interpreted as
describing matter creation in a cosmological framework. The particle creation
rate is determined by the variation rate of the brane tension, as well as by
the brane-bulk energy-matter transfer rate. We investigate the effect of a
variable brane tension on the cosmological evolution of the Universe, in the
framework of a particular model in which the brane tension is an exponentially
dependent function of the scale factor. The resulting cosmology shows the
presence of an initial inflationary expansion, followed by a decelerating
phase, and by a smooth transition towards a late accelerated de Sitter type
expansion. The varying brane tension is also responsible for the generation of
the matter in the Universe (reheating period). The physical constraints on the
model parameters, resulted from the observational cosmological data, are also
investigated.Comment: 25 pages, 8 figures, accepted for publication in European Physical

Einstein Corpuscles and Dark Core Black Holes in Spontaneously induced General Relativity
Suppose General Relativity, provocatively governed by a dimensional coupling constant, is a spontaneously induced theory of Gravity. Invoking Zee's mechanism, we represent the reciprocal Newton constant by a Brans Dicke scalar field, and let it damped oscillating towards its General Relativistic VEV. The corresponding cosmological evolution, in the Jordan frame, averagely resembles the familiar dark radiation -> dark matter -> dark energy domination sequence. The fingerprints of the theory are fine ripples, hopefully testable, in the FRW scale factor; they die away at the strict General Relativity limit. Also derived is the spherically symmetric static configuration associated with spontaneously induced General Relativity. At the stiff scalar potential limit, the exterior Schwarzschild solution is recovered. However, due to level crossing at the would have been horizon, it now connects with a novel dark core characterized by a locally varying Newton constant. The theory further predicts light Einstein-style gravitational corpuscles (elementary particles?) which become point-like at the GR-limit
