Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) with Peripheral Neuropathy often have impared control of muscle strength that increases the risk of fall. Elastic taping (ET) is a special elastic band that can stretch up to 140% and could facilitate muscle contraction. Aim: To prove the influence of ET on the dynamic muscular control balance between evertor and invertor muscles of the ankle in type 2 DM male with peripheral neuropathy. Material and methods: This study used a pre-post one grup study, with10 type 2 DM male with peripheral neuropathy. All subjects were examined for ankle evertor-invertor dynamic control ratio (DCR) with isokinetic dynamometer at 600/sec and 1200/sec before elastic taping (ET), 30 minutes after ET, at the third day of ET aplication and 3 days after ET was released. Elastic taping was applied with functional tehniques on the both ankles. Result: There were no significant differences between with and without the application of KT in the ankle evertor-invertor DCR in both side. The p value were same in both sides, at 600/sec after 30 minute ET (p=0.72), at the third day of ET aplication (p=0,24), 3 days after released ET (p= 0,88) and at 1200/sec after 30 minute ET (p=0,17). Conclusion: Elastic taping did not improve the ankle evertor-invertor DCR in type 2 DM male patients with peripheral neuropathy

Latar belakang.

Sarcopenia is one of the most common phenomena in the elderly. dancing is an alternative to physical therapy to overcome this. The purpose of this study was to see whether there was an effect of giving modified Javanese traditional dance on hand grip strength and walking speed in the elderly. Eleven participants alocated in one group, took part in this study, completed a twelve-week (36 sessions) modified Javanese traditional dance, 35 minutes each session, with moderate aerobic intensity. The outcome measures were hand grip strength as measured by hand dynamometer and walking speed as measured by ten meters walking test (10MWT). Measured before and after 12 weeks intervention. There was a statistically significant increase in hand grip strength (p=0,003) and walking speed (p=0,01) after 12 weeks of giving modified Javanese traditional dance. The results of the calculation of the mean effect size show large results for both hand grip strength (Cohen's D = 0.94) and walking speed (Cohen's D = 0,88). Thus, the regular twelve-weeks of modified Javanese traditional dance can increase hand grip strength and walking speed ini healthy older adult

Effects of High-intensity Interval Training Treadmill with Changes in Inclination on TGF-β2 Serum Level of Overweight Male

A third of adults in Indonesia were overweight. Overweight and abdominal obesity also have associations with musculoskeletal disorders, limited respiratory function, and decreased physical function and quality of life, so public health interventions are needed to overcome them. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has more efficient time and has similar effectiveness as endurance exercise. Transforming Growth Factor-β2 (TGF-β2) is secreted from adipose tissue in response to exercise and improves glucose tolerance. Sixteen overweight subjects who met the study criteria were randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups. The intervention group did HIIT using a treadmill with incline changes for 4 weeks. This research measures weight, body mass index (BMI), waist and hip ratio (WHR), body fat mass, and TGF-β2 serum levels pre- and post-intervention in both groups. There was significant decrease in body fat mass percentage (p=0,002) and WHR (p=0,003) but no significant decrease in weight (p=0.51) and BMI (p=0.526) and no significant increase in TGF-β2 serum levels (p=0.208). However, the control got a significant decrease in TGF-β2 serum levels (p=0.029). Although HIIT for 4 weeks did not increase the TGF-β2 serum levels, it is effective to prevent a significant decrease in TGF-β2 serum levels in overweight men
