Chronic Hyperplastic Candidiasis
Pacijent: K.A. 44 g. M
There are several clinical appearances of oral candidiasis.
Therefore, recognizing different manifestiton of oral candidiasis is crutial in clinical practice.
Patient K.A, aged 44 years, male.
The middle-aged patient come to the oral medicine clinic with mouth burning symptoms, disgeusia and roughness of oral mucous membrane.
During inspection a black hairy tongue and bilateral buccal white patches with inflamation / erythema underneath are visible. At this first visit, oral swabs were taken from bucal mucosa, and cultured on Sabouraud agar fro the presentce of Candida sp. Colonies were counted after 36 hours of incubation. For quick identification of Candida, germination test was performed. Culture showed
positive findings (intensity level III, according to Budz- Joergensen).
Miconazole gel, 4 g daily; vitamin A, 60000 i.u. daily; vitamin B-complex, 24 mg daily
After 28 days of treatment, lesions completely resolved.
Repeated Candidal culture revealed intensity I.
When suspecting chronic hyperplastic candidasis, Candida albicans needs to be diagnostically confirmed, and treated with miconazole, A and B-complex vitamins should be administred
Hole-Like Fermi Surface in the Overdoped Non-Superconducting BiPbSrCuO
In high-temperature cuprate superconductors, the anti-ferromagnetic spin
fluctuations are thought to have a very important role in naturally producing
an attractive interaction between the electrons in the -wave channel. The
connection between superconductivity and spin fluctuations is expected to be
especially consequential at the overdoped end point of the superconducting
dome. In some materials, that point seems to coincide with a Lifshitz
transition, where the Fermi surface changes from the hole-like centered at
() to the electron-like, centered at the point causing a
loss of large momentum anti-ferromagnetic fluctuations. Here, we study the
doping dependence of the electronic structure of
BiPbSrCuO in angle-resolved photoemission and
find that the superconductivity vanishes at lower doping than at which the
Lifshitz transition occurs. This requires a more detailed re-examination of a
spin-fluctuation scenario.Comment: 6 pages, 3 Figures, 1 Tabl
The mechanism of caesium intercalation of graphene
Properties of many layered materials, including copper- and iron-based
superconductors, topological insulators, graphite and epitaxial graphene can be
manipulated by inclusion of different atomic and molecular species between the
layers via a process known as intercalation. For example, intercalation in
graphite can lead to superconductivity and is crucial in the working cycle of
modern batteries and supercapacitors. Intercalation involves complex diffusion
processes along and across the layers, but the microscopic mechanisms and
dynamics of these processes are not well understood. Here we report on a novel
mechanism for intercalation and entrapment of alkali-atoms under epitaxial
graphene. We find that the intercalation is adjusted by the van der Waals
interaction, with the dynamics governed by defects anchored to graphene
wrinkles. Our findings are relevant for the future design and application of
graphene-based nano-structures. Similar mechanisms can also play a role for
intercalation of layered materials.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures in published form, supplementary information

Assessment and treatment of distorted schemas in sexual offenders
The aim of this review is to examine the literature related to the assessment and treatment of sex offenders’ distorted schemas. Where appropriate, the review draws upon current insights from the field of social cognition to aid in the critical evaluation of the findings. First, the review considers the various different methodologies for assessing distorted schemas, discussing their strengths and limitations. Second, the review examines the work related to the treatment of sex offenders’ schemas. Suggestions for future research, and the implications for clinical practice, are highlighted in the article
Residual polymer stabiliser causes anisotropic electrical conductivity during inkjet printing of metal nanoparticles
Inkjet printing of metal nanoparticles allows for design flexibility, rapid processing and enables the 3D printing of functional electronic devices through co-deposition of multiple materials. However, the performance of printed devices, especially their electrical conductivity, is lower than those made by traditional manufacturing methods and is not fully understood. Here, we reveal that anisotropic electrical conductivity of printed metal nanoparticles is caused by organic residuals from their inks. We employ a combination of electrical resistivity tests, morphological analysis and 3D nanoscale chemical analysis of printed devices using silver nanoparticles to show that the polymer stabiliser polyvinylpyrrolidone tends to concentrate between vertically stacked nanoparticle layers as well as at dielectric/conductive interfaces. Understanding the behaviour of organic residues in printed nanoparticles reveals potential new strategies to improve nanomaterial ink formulations for functional printed electronics
