Current-Induced Resonant Motion of a Magnetic Vortex Core: Effect of Nonadiabatic Spin Torque
The current-induced resonant excitation of a magnetic vortex core is
investigated by means of analytical and micromagnetic calculations. We find
that the radius and the phase shift of the resonant motion are not correctly
described by the analytical equations because of the dynamic distortion of a
vortex core. In contrast, the initial tilting angle of a vortex core is free
from the distortion and determined by the nonadiabaticity of the spin torque.
It is insensitive to experimentally uncontrollable current-induced in-plane
Oersted field. We propose that a time-resolved imaging of the very initial
trajectory of a core is essential to experimentally estimate the
nonadiabaticity.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
The Beneficial Effect of Glycemic Control against Adverse Outcomes in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Kidney Disease
Fast Knowledge Graph Completion using Graphics Processing Units
Knowledge graphs can be used in many areas related to data semantics such as
question-answering systems, knowledge based systems. However, the currently
constructed knowledge graphs need to be complemented for better knowledge in
terms of relations. It is called knowledge graph completion. To add new
relations to the existing knowledge graph by using knowledge graph embedding
models, we have to evaluate vector operations, where
is the number of entities and is the number of relation types. It is very
costly.
In this paper, we provide an efficient knowledge graph completion framework
on GPUs to get new relations using knowledge graph embedding vectors. In the
proposed framework, we first define "transformable to a metric space" and then
provide a method to transform the knowledge graph completion problem into the
similarity join problem for a model which is "transformable to a metric space".
After that, to efficiently process the similarity join problem, we derive
formulas using the properties of a metric space. Based on the formulas, we
develop a fast knowledge graph completion algorithm. Finally, we experimentally
show that our framework can efficiently process the knowledge graph completion
problem
IJA: An Efficient Algorithm for Query Processing in Sensor Networks
One of main features in sensor networks is the function that processes real time state information after gathering needed data from many domains. The component technologies consisting of each node called a sensor node that are including physical sensors, processors, actuators and power have advanced significantly over the last decade. Thanks to the advanced technology, over time sensor networks have been adopted in an all-round industry sensing physical phenomenon. However, sensor nodes in sensor networks are considerably constrained because with their energy and memory resources they have a very limited ability to process any information compared to conventional computer systems. Thus query processing over the nodes should be constrained because of their limitations. Due to the problems, the join operations in sensor networks are typically processed in a distributed manner over a set of nodes and have been studied. By way of example while simple queries, such as select and aggregate queries, in sensor networks have been addressed in the literature, the processing of join queries in sensor networks remains to be investigated. Therefore, in this paper, we propose and describe an Incremental Join Algorithm (IJA) in Sensor Networks to reduce the overhead caused by moving a join pair to the final join node or to minimize the communication cost that is the main consumer of the battery when processing the distributed queries in sensor networks environments. At the same time, the simulation result shows that the proposed IJA algorithm significantly reduces the number of bytes to be moved to join nodes compared to the popular synopsis join algorithm
Inhibition of \u3cem\u3eCandida albicans\u3c/em\u3e and Mixed Salivary Bacterial Biofilms on Antimicrobial Loaded Phosphated Poly(methyl methacrylate)
Biofilms play a crucial role in the development of Candida-associated denture stomatitis. Inhibition of microbial adhesion to poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and phosphate containing PMMA has been examined in this work. C. albicans and mixed salivary microbial biofilms were compared on naked and salivary pre-conditioned PMMA surfaces in the presence or absence of antimicrobials (Cetylpyridinium chloride [CPC], KSL-W, Histatin 5 [His 5]). Polymers with varying amounts of phosphate (0–25%) were tested using four C. albicans oral isolates as well as mixed salivary bacteria and 24 h biofilms were assessed for metabolic activity and confirmed using Live/Dead staining and confocal microscopy. Biofilm metabolism was reduced as phosphate density increased (15%: p = 0.004; 25%: p = 0.001). Loading of CPC on 15% phosphated disks showed a substantial decrease (p = 0.001) in biofilm metabolism in the presence or absence of a salivary pellicle. Salivary pellicle on uncharged PMMA enhanced the antimicrobial activity of CPC only. CPC also demonstrated remarkable antimicrobial activity on mixed salivary bacterial biofilms under different conditions displaying the potent efficacy of CPC (350 µg/mL) when combined with an artificial protein pellicle (Biotene half strength)
Mesenteric extraskeletal osteosarcoma with telangiectatic features: a case report

Abstract

Background

Extraskeletal osteosarcoma is a rare malignant mesenchymal tumor, with a predominant occurrence in the extremities. Only two cases of mesenteric extraskeletal osteosarcoma have been documented. We describe an unusual case of extraskeletal osteosarcoma with telangiectatic features occurring in the mesentery.

Case presentation

A 67-year-old male presented with blood-tinged stool of 1-month's duration. On colonoscopy, a solid mass was detected protruding from the colon wall. Computed tomography showed a 15 × 9.7 cm heterogeneously enhancing mass, with mottled calcification and a cystic portion, occupying the left upper quadrant of the abdominal cavity. Curative resection of the tumor was performed, and the excised tumor was composed of large multilocular cysts containing old hematomas and necrotic debris. The histology revealed an osteosarcoma showing osteoid formation and blood-filled spaces lined with atypical cells. Despite postoperative chemotherapy, he developed a recurrent peritoneal mass and multiple lung metastases 3 months postoperatively.

Conclusion

Given the rarity of cases of mesenteric extraskeletal osteosarcoma, its biologic behavior at this location remains to be determined. However, extraskeletal osteosarcoma with telangiectatic features is an uncommon entity to be recognized because of the possible fatal outcome related to the tumors.</p
In-situ fabrication of cobalt-doped SrFe2As2 thin films by using pulsed laser deposition with excimer laser
The remarkably high superconducting transition temperature and upper critical
field of iron(Fe)-based layered superconductors, despite ferromagnetic material
base, open the prospect for superconducting electronics. However, success in
superconducting electronics has been limited because of difficulties in
fabricating high-quality thin films. We report the growth of high-quality
c-axis-oriented cobalt(Co)-doped SrFe2As2 thin films with bulk
superconductivity by using an in-situ pulsed laser deposition technique with a
248-nm-wavelength KrF excimer laser and an arsenic(As)-rich phase target. The
temperature and field dependences of the magnetization showing strong
diamagnetism and transport critical current density with superior Jc-H
performance are reported. These results provide necessary information for
practical applications of Fe-based superconductors.Comment: 8 pages, 3figures. to be published at Appl. Phys. Let
Recent Trends and Changes in the Endoscopic Spinal Surgery
In recent years, endoscopic spine surgeries have advanced dramatically. Endoscopic spine surgeries are expanding to not only the lumbar spine, but also thoracic and cervical spines. Indications for spinal endoscopic surgery have also been expanded. Central stenosis, lateral recess stenosis, and foraminal stenosis were included in surgical indications of endoscopy. Finally, endoscopic lumbar interbody fusion surgeries have been attempted
