    The need for a constitutional referendum to address the issue of children’s rights and child protection has been the subject of ongoing debate and discussion within the child care sector for a number of years. As far back as 1989 the ISPCC in its Centenary Charter identified the possible need for a constitutional referendum to ensure children were extended the same rights as adults. My task was to create campaign guidelines for the constitutional referendum – Yes for kids. The logo was based and made as a potatoe stamp. It consists of two parts - kids face and tick symbol - tick as saying “yes“ and also putting smile on childs face. Because charity doesn’t have money to print new stationery the ideas was to create a set of stamps to stamp existing stationery during the referendum campaign

    Effective communication in medicine should lead not only to communication of health care professionals with patients, but also to mutual understanding. Limited ability of communication with deaf patients and providing inadequate feedback negatively affect their participation and implementation of successful nursing care. It is important that patients with hearing disabilities could express their needs, desires, feelings and opinions in communication with health care professionals. The specific approach of nursing staff to effective communication with deaf patients and respecting the reality that a patient is an equal partner who has the right to decide their own fate are essential prerequisites for establishing the contact in nursing practice. In educational programme of future health care professionals we tried to find out how our students are prepared for interaction, communication and negotiation of communication barriers with deaf patients. We also recommend training programmes in practical education for developing the communication skills and to focus on requirements which would make an effective communication with deaf patients

    At present, in a dynamic and continuously changing, complex and competitive entrepreneurial environment, human resources management is a fairly important aspect. It is considered an essential and preferred quality in each manager. Leadership is a relatively independent function of management; it represents such influence on the individual that his/her behavior is in accordance with the definition of his/her job position and at the same time it contributes to development, satisfying customer needs and interests of employees. The aim of this contribution is to present efficient management of people as a prospective, successful and effective precondition for increasing value and competitiveness of a company. The issue of managing human resources appears to be very up-to-date when looking at the ongoing world crisis and related efficient managing of people in companies, which can become a competitive advantage and a tool for ensuring effective operation of companies under conditions of globalization

    The concept of competitive advantage is well-known for many of us and a number of literary resources focused on entrepreneurship and functioning of economies deal with it, either directly or indirectly. The understanding of the term competitive advantage though sometimes varies. One can only perceive it when looking at it as a whole, a live organism that is constantly developing in a complex dynamic entrepreneurial environment, the individual parts of which do not function when separated from each other. They are mutually integrated and they influence each other in all aspects and their feedback. A competitive environment forces businesses to fight each other so as to gain status in such complex and dynamic environment, i.e. they make an effort to win the competitors‘ profit, respectively their market share. The above scenario reminds of a war. The aim of this contribution is to describe and define the terms „competitive advantage“ and „competition“ on theoretical grounds since opinions vary on definition of the above terms. There exist many theoretical conceptions that determine the term competitive advantage in various conditions of its origination, starting with company environment, through its inter-branch level up to understanding competitive advantage in particular segments of economy, and the results can vary. Nevertheless, one thing is sure - competitive advantage is becoming a phenomenon that is multicomponent, multi-layer, dynamic and complementary

    The idea of leadership has fascinated people for centuries. Leadership, or leading, is an asocial process, where the leader is seeking for voluntary participation of the subordinated, thus striving to achieve the company's objectives. Leadership clearly proves to be more than exercising power and authority. It also covers a number of managerial abilities, such as susceptibility, motivation, scrupulousness, empathy and communication. Leadership has to be present at all levels of the organization, thus creating reasonable conditions for achieving higher competitiveness by companies. Concerning management, there are many theories of leadership defining the influence of managers on subordinates, and there the term management can be understood a synonym to the term leadership since those too are perceived identical in meaning. There are different theories providing a wide range of views on the topic of leadership and its effective application. Many authors consider leading an inseparable part, and one of the most important functions of a manager's job; others consider such ability to lead people a key quality in managers. It is difficult to find or exactly specify a complex definition of leadership. It is hard to define the best way of practicing it. The aim of this contribution is to describe top managers in the role of main strategy planners and present leadership in the light of successful precondition for achieving competitiveness in a selected sample of companies in Slovakia

    Competitive advantage is a key precondition for setting up a successful business and the foundation stone for establishing oneself on the market and increasing one’s market share, which leads companies towards becoming profitable. Permanent and fast changes in the turbulent entrepreneurial environment represent challenge for managerial professionality and they lead to search for appropriate internal strategies aimed at developing the potential of companies for success. The solution for securing long-term success for companies seems to be the focus on the company’s internal potential. Increasing competition leads to uncovering further competitive advantages. For firms to grow and be profitable in the long-term, they have to build a significant competitive advantage, however, most firms have only vague idea of such advantage in practice. The method of three circles is one of the strategic tools for identifying a competitive advantage. Those are: the circle that represents customer needs, i.e. what they want; how they perceive what companies offer and; the third circle represents the way customers perceive the offer by competitors. The intersections of the three are strategically important areas that can be analyzed via answering the following questions: How big and sustainable are the company’s advantages? Are they built upon different abilities? Is the company effective in terms of parity? How can a company face the advantage by its competitors? The contribution describes selected aspects and methods for improving companies’ competitive advantage under conditions of economies going global. Furthermore, it points out that competitive advantage is for many companies a basic way of presenting themselves
