A Counting Algorithm and Application of Image-Based Printed Circuit Boards

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]In the production line of printed circuit boards (PCB), quality control requires constant counting and recording of the number of boards which, in some special cases, is done by workers in the factory. This form of counting consumes labor and time, not to mention the high error rate. In this paper, an automatic method to count PCBs is proposed. With the use of image processing techniques, the number of PCBs can be non-destructively calculated as they pass through the production line, which will effectively improve the production efficiency. The first step of the proposed system is to take a picture of a stack of PCBs using a digital camera. The captured image is transformed to a gray level picture and processed by a noise removal algorithm to improve the proposed mechanism's precision. The output of the counting algorithm includes PCB count and confidence level. In practical applications, the confidence level can help people to on-line diagnose erroneous counting and correct it when the visualization counting system fails to accurately differentiate the boards.[[notice]]補正完畢[[journaltype]]國際[[incitationindex]]EI[[booktype]]紙本[[countrycodes]]TW

Design of Control Experiments on the Internet

[[abstract]]We describe the design of control experiments on the Internet. In this control experiment laboratory, users perform common A/D, D/A, and I/O controls in traditional automatic controls course. Furthermore, the networked control course experiments can also be established. Users choose different control parameters in a PID controller to control a remote DC motor. The outputs of these experiments are displayed in the user end by plots or by real-time video. The remote experiments described in this paper can be of benefits to users to be familiar with fundamental controls and networked controls in distance learning.[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20020909~20020912[[conferencelocation]]Kazan, Tatarstan, Russi

[[abstract]]It has become a trend to integrate automatic industries via Internet and wireless applications over network. Along with the advancement of technology development, research on wireless applications and remote control has become significant and popular today. Thus, we have designed and implemented a teaching platform with wireless applications and remote control using GSM system in the mobile-PLC (M-PLC) control lab. The integration of the mobile control and measurement using the GSM short message service (SMS) provides a teaching platform where students can learn anytime and anywhere. We can monitor machine operations using GSM system. The usability and economy of teaching media is apt, since cell phones are cheap, easy to operate and portable.[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20060705~20060707[[booktype]]紙本[[conferencelocation]]Kerkrade, Netherland

Online Sequential Decision-Making with Unknown Delays

In the field of online sequential decision-making, we address the problem with delays utilizing the framework of online convex optimization (OCO), where the feedback of a decision can arrive with an unknown delay. Unlike previous research that is limited to Euclidean norm and gradient information, we propose three families of delayed algorithms based on approximate solutions to handle different types of received feedback. Our proposed algorithms are versatile and applicable to universal norms. Specifically, we introduce a family of Follow the Delayed Regularized Leader algorithms for feedback with full information on the loss function, a family of Delayed Mirror Descent algorithms for feedback with gradient information on the loss function and a family of Simplified Delayed Mirror Descent algorithms for feedback with the value information of the loss function's gradients at corresponding decision points. For each type of algorithm, we provide corresponding regret bounds under cases of general convexity and relative strong convexity, respectively. We also demonstrate the efficiency of each algorithm under different norms through concrete examples. Furthermore, our theoretical results are consistent with the current best bounds when degenerated to standard settings

Study on analysis method for deepwater TTR coupled vibration of parameter vibration and vortex-induced vibration

Considering the vertical vibration, caused by floating platform, of top tensioned riser (TTR), an analysis method for the coupled vibration of parameter excited vibration and vortex-induced vibration is presented in this paper. With the section rotation and shear deformation due to the bending large displacement of TTR, a coupled vibration model of parameter excited vibration and vortex-induced vibration is put forward. And the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of a TTR for 1500 m water depth is analyzed based on the model. The results show that the vertical vibration caused by floating platform increases transverse vibration displacement of TTR
