This study aimed to describe the estrus-related changes in dairy cattle in parameters automatically recorded through an HR-Tag (SCR Engineers Ltd., Netanya, Israel) or a neck collar (Nedap Livestock Management, Groenlo, Netherlands). On two commercial dairy farms, the baseline period was defined as the mean of 3 d before and 3 d after estrus day. In the HR-Tag monitored herd, changes in physical activity and behavioral parameters (lying bouts, lying duration, total lying time, lying ratio) were studied in 78 estrous cycles. The cows were classified in groups according to parity (primiparous, n = 34; and multiparous, n = 44), milk production (MK1, n = 7, > 47 kg/d; MK2, n = 12, 42-47 kg/d; MK3, n = 43, 31-42 kg/d; and MK4, n = 16, 41 kg/d; MK2, n = 17, 32-41 kg/d; and MK3, n = 13, 47 kg/d; MK2, n = 12, 42 – 47 kg/d; MK3, n = 43, 31 – 42 kg/d; MK4, n = 16, 41 kg/d; MK2, n = 17, 32 – 41 kg/d; and MK3, n = 13, < 32 kg/d).

Advantage of quantum coherence in postselected metrology

In conventional measurement, to reach the greatest accuracy of parameter estimation, all samples must be measured since each independent sample contains the same quantum Fisher information. In postselected metrology, postselection can concentrate the quantum Fisher information of the initial samples into a tiny post-selected sub-ensemble. It has been proven that this quantum advantage can not be realized in any classically commuting theory. In this work, we present that the advantage of postselection in weak value amplification (WVA) can not be achieved without quantum coherence. The quantum coherence of the initial system is closely related to the preparation costs and measurement costs in parameter estimation. With the increase of initial quantum coherence, the joint values of preparation costs and measurement costs can be optimized to smaller. Moreover, we derive an analytical tradeoff relation between the preparation, measurement and the quantum coherence. We further experimentally test the tradeoff relation in a linear optical setup. The experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement and show that the quantum coherence plays a key role in bounding the resource costs in the postselected metrology process

BackgroundThe link between Gut microbiota (GM) and Gallstone disease (GSD) is well established, but it is not clear whether there is a causal relationship between the two associations.MethodsWe conducted bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses, leveraging aggregated data from the Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) of GM and Circulating Metabolites. Our primary objective was to investigate the causal interplay between intestinal flora and GSD. Additionally, we performed mediational analyses, two-step MR, and multivariate MR to uncover the potential mediating effect of circulating metabolites in this relationship.ResultOur study has revealed a causal relationship between GSD and six distinct bacterial groups. Genetically predicted Class Bacilli (Odds Ratio (OR): 0.901, 95% Confidence Interval (95% CI): 0.825–0.985; p = 0.021), Order Lactobacillales (OR: 0.895, 95% CI: 0.816–0.981; p = 0.017), and Genus Coprococcus 2 (OR: 0.884, 95% CI: 0.804–0.973; p = 0.011) were inversely associated with the risk of GSD. Conversely, the Genus Clostridiumsensustricto1 (OR: 1.158, 95% CI: 1.029–1.303; p = 0.015), Genus Coprococcus3 (OR: 1.166, 95% CI: 1.024–1.327; p = 0.020), and Genus Peptococcus (OR: 1.070, 95% CI: 1.017–1.125; p = 0.009) were positively associated with the risk of GSD. Moreover, our findings suggest that the positive influence of the Genus Peptococcus on GSD may be mediated through Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA).ConclusionThis study reinforces the connection between the gut microbiome and the risk of GSD while also unveiling the mediating role of Omega-3 PUFA in the causal relationship between these factors

The title complex, [Mn(C6H5N2O4)2(H2O)2], was obtained by hydrothermal synthesis. The MnII atom, which lies on an inversion centre, displays a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal packing, complex molecules are linked by intermolecular O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional supramolecular structure. The title complex is isostructural with the corresponding cadmium(II) complex [Nie, Wen, Wu, Liu & Liu (2007 ▶). Acta Cryst. E63, m753–m755]

IntroductionAlthough surgery is the preferred treatment for sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma (SHC), the prognosis remains considerably poor due to early postoperative recurrence and metastasis. Reports on surgery after combined treatment with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor and anti-programmed cell death (PD)-1 antibody are unavailable.Case presentationA 69-year-old male patient with SHC was admitted to our hospital for treatment of a liver tumor that was detected on ultrasonography. Abdominal computed tomography with triple-phase enhancement revealed a lesion in the right hepatic lobe that measured 86.0 mm × 75.0 mm × 71.0 mm. Biopsy revealed a pathological diagnosis of liver sarcoma or sarcomatoid carcinoma. The patient subsequently received transcatheter arterial chemo-embolization, as he did not consent to surgery. More than two months later, he received a combination of lenvatinib with camrelizumab, as computed tomography showed an increase in the lesion size (to 123.0 mm × 90.0 mm × 80.0 mm) and lateral growth posterior to the upper pole of the right kidney. Liver resection was performed after 6 months of systemic therapy; pathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of SHC and showed extensive necrosis of tumor cells. Combined treatment with lenvatinib and camrelizumab was continued for 6 months after surgery. The patient has survived for over 24 months after initial diagnosis and is currently tumor-free.ConclusionCombined systemic therapy with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor and anti-PD-1 antibody may represent a feasible treatment strategy for improving resectability in cases of unresectable SHC. The outcomes with this combination may also be explored in cases of resectable SHC that have a high-risk of recurrence; this may improve the therapeutic effect

Recent Advances on the Molecular Mechanism and Clinical Trials of Venous Thromboembolism.

Venous thromboembolism is a condition that includes deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. It is the third most common cardiovascular disease behind acute coronary heart disease and stroke. Over the past few years, growing research suggests that venous thrombosis is also related to the immune system and inflammatory factors have been confirmed to be involved in venous thrombosis. The role of inflammation and inflammation-related biomarkers in cerebrovascular thrombotic disease is the subject of ongoing debate. P-selectin leads to platelet-monocyte aggregation and stimulates vascular inflammation and thrombosis. The dysregulation of miRNAs has also been reported in venous thrombosis, suggesting the involvement of miRNAs in the progression of venous thrombosis. Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is a crucial component of the plasminogen-plasmin system, and elevated levels of PAI-1 in conjunction with advanced age are significant risk factors for thrombosis. In addition, it has been showed that one of the ways that neutrophils promote venous thrombosis is the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). In recent years, the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the occurrence and development of VTE has been continuously revealed. With the advancement of research technology, the complex regulatory role of EVs on the coagulation process has been gradually discovered. However, our understanding of the causes and consequences of these changes in venous thrombosis is still limited. Therefore, we review our current understanding the molecular mechanisms of venous thrombosis and the related clinical trials, which is crucial for the future treatment of venous thrombosis

Searching for axion dark matter with MeerKAT Radio Telescope

Axions provide a natural and well-motivated dark matter candidate, with the capability to convert directly to photons in the presence of an electromagnetic field. A particularly compelling observational target is the conversion of dark matter axions into photons in the magnetospheres of highly magnetised neutron stars, which is expected to produce a narrow spectral peak centred at the frequency of the axion mass. We point the MeerKAT radio telescope towards the isolated neutron star J0806.4-4123 for 1010-hours of observation and obtain the radio spectra in the frequency range 769769-10511051 MHz. By modelling the conversion process of infalling axion dark matter (DM), we then compare these spectra to theoretical expectations for a given choice of axion parameters. Whilst finding no signal above 5σ5\sigma in the data, we provide a unique constraint on the Primakoff coupling of axion DM, gaγγ9.3×1012GeV1g_{{\rm a}\gamma\gamma}\lesssim 9.3 \times 10^{-12}\,{\rm GeV}^{-1} at the 95%95\% confidence level, in the mass range 3.183.18-4.35μ4.35\,\mueV. This result serves the strongest constraint in the axion mass range 4.204.20-4.35μ4.35\,\mueV.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, accepted by Physical Review

Comparison of Different Timing of Multivessel Intervention During Index-Hospitalization for Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction

Background: Many patients presenting with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) were found to have a multivessel disease. Uncertainty still exists in the optimal revascularization strategy in AMI patients. The purpose of this study was to assess the outcome of immediate multivessel revascularization compared with staged multivessel percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with AMI.Method: This was a nationwide cohort study of 186,112 patients first diagnosed with AMI, 78,699 of whom received PCI for revascularization. Patients who received repetitive PCI during the index hospitalization were referred to as staged multivessel PCI. Immediate multivessel PCI was defined as patients with two-vessel PCI or three-vessel PCI during the index procedure. Cox proportional hazards regression models were performed to evaluate the different indicators of mortality risks in AMI.Result: Immediate multivessel PCI was associated with a worse long-term outcome than staged multivessel PCI during the index admission (log-rank P < 0.001). There was a higher incidence of stroke in patients with multivessel PCI during hospitalization. In Cox analysis, immediate multivessel PCI was an independent risk factor for mortality compared to those with staged multivessel PCI, regardless of the type of myocardial infarction. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that performing immediate multivessel PCI for AMI may lead to worse long-term survival than staged multivessel PCI. Our findings emphasized the importance of PCI timing for non-infarct-related artery stenosis and provided information to supplement current evidence
