    A Framework of Fuzzy Diagnosis

    Fault diagnosis has become an important component in intelligent systems, such as intelligent control systems and intelligent eLearning systems. Reiter's diagnosis theory, described by first-order sentences, has been attracting much attention in this field. However, descriptions and observations of most real-world situations are related to fuzziness because of the incompleteness and the uncertainty of knowledge, e. g., the fault diagnosis of student behaviors in the eLearning processes. In this paper, an extension of Reiter's consistency-based diagnosis methodology, Fuzzy Diagnosis, has been proposed, which is able to deal with incomplete or fuzzy knowledge. A number of important properties of the Fuzzy diagnoses schemes have also been established. The computing of fuzzy diagnoses is mapped to solving a system of inequalities. Some special cases, abstracted from real-world situations, have been discussed. In particular, the fuzzy diagnosis problem, in which fuzzy observations are represented by clause-style fuzzy theories, has been presented and its solving method has also been given. A student fault diagnostic problem abstracted from a simplified real-world eLearning case is described to demonstrate the application of our diagnostic framework

    An Association between Bid Series and Transaction Price Facilitating Trading Decision Making Based on VPIP Algorithm

    The stock price has long been an essential issue in stock market analysis, while rarely had any relevant study covered the relational effect of the bidder factor on stock price. Hereby we try to find an association between bid and transaction price time series. The fluctuation of pattern ratios embedded in the bid series affects the fluctuation of transaction price. That means when there is small changed amplitude of pattern occupancy ratio, there is a possibility that small fluctuation of transaction price will occur. And when there is a large changed amplify of pattern occupancy ratio, there is a possibility that large fluctuation of transaction price will occur. Also, we find the boundary value of changed amplify of pattern occupancy ratio which may lead to the relatively large fluctuation in transaction price. The finding contributes to provide reference information for the decision making of trading stock data. Additionally, we propose a new pattern-matching scheme called Visually and Practically Important Point (VPIP), which take the characteristic of the stock data into account. This scheme contributes that more valuable points can be remained in the stock time series after extracting the large number stock time series to small ones. Encouraging experiment is reported from the tests that there is an association between the bid sequence and transaction price time series of selected Chicago Stock Exchange, by using our patternmatching scheme

    Concentration Polarization of High-Density Lipoprotein and Its Relation with Shear Stress in an In Vitro Model

    The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration polarization of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) at the surface of the carotid artery under conditions of steady flow and to establish its relationship with shear stress using an in vitro vascular simulation model of carotid bifurcation. Shear stress, HDL concentration at the surface, and the ratio of HDL concentration at the surface to concentration in bulk flow were measured at different locations within the model under high-speed (1.451 m/s) and low-speed (0.559 m/s) flow. HDL showed concentration polarization at the surface of the carotid artery model, particularly in the internal carotid artery sinus. With decreasing flow velocity, the shear stress at the surface also decreased, and HDL concentration polarization increased. The concentration polarization of HDL was negatively and strongly correlated with shear stress at both low- (r = −0.872, P < .001) and high-speed flow (r = −0.592, P = .0018)

    Relationship between Concentration Difference of Different Density Lipoproteins and Shear Stress in Atherosclerosis

    Previous research has observed concentration polarization in LDL and HDL in the arterial system. However, there is no report that links this concentration polarization to the development of vascular atherosclerosis (AS). Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish the relationship between concentration difference of LDL and HDL and shear stress using a carotid bifurcation vascular model. PTFE was employed to create the carotid bifurcation model. Endothelial cells were coated on the inner wall of the graft. In a recirculation system, HDL and LDL concentration were measured under two different ICA flow velocities at 5 different locations within our model. We report the following: (1) LDL and HDL concentration difference was observed in both high flow and low flow environments; (2) the degree of LDL and HDL concentration polarization varied depending of high flow and low flow environment; (3) absolute values of concentration difference between LDL and HDL at the inner wall surface decreased with the increase in shear stress when shear stress was more than 1.5 Pa. This variation trend would be more pronounced if shear stress were less than 0.5 Pa. Our study suggests that under the action of shear stress, concentration differences of LDL or HDL create a disturbance in the balance of atherogenic factors and anti-As factors, resulting in the occurrence of AS

    Fast Hankel Transforms Algorithm Based on Kernel Function Interpolation with Exponential Functions

    The Pravin method for Hankel transforms is based on the decomposition of kernel function with exponential function. The defect of such method is the difficulty in its parameters determination and lack of adaptability to kernel function especially using monotonically decreasing functions to approximate the convex ones. This thesis proposed an improved scheme by adding new base function in interpolation procedure. The improved method maintains the merit of Pravin method which can convert the Hankel integral to algebraic calculation. The simulation results reveal that the improved method has high precision, high efficiency, and good adaptability to kernel function. It can be applied to zero-order and first-order Hankel transforms

    Coexistence of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus in Jinghong City, Yunnan Province: A Survey of Aedes aegypti Invasion

    We conducted this study to confirm that Aedes aegypti has invaded and colonized in Xishuangbanna, Yunan province, China. And we conducted a larval survey for dengue mosquito vectors, Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus, to assess on possible competition for breeding sites between these both species in urban environment in Jinghong city. The study was carried out at least once a month in February and March, November and December, and three times for each month from April to October in 2014 in five communities in the municipality of Jinghong city. No less than 50 houses were surveyed each time in one place. We collected immature stages of mosquitoes from all types of breeding sites in houses and their premises. Morphological species identification was carried for Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus. Both species occurred in all surveyed areas. Aedes aegypti has occupied a considerable composition (67.75%) since the uncertain time of its first invasion to Jinghong city. Aedes aegypti was predominant species indoor (74.19%), but also presented in surrounding environment (25.81%); while Ae. albopictus favored the outdoor environment (54.55%) as well as in houses (45.45%). We gave the preference water containers (tires) for dengue vectors, described different distribution in different investigated places, and showed with monthly variance by indices of BI and CI. We gave our rational explanation for the variance with raining in this area, Aedes keep a high density value during the rainy season. For both dengue vectors, the possibility cannot be excluded that the invasion of Ae. aegypti in the city might lead to a decrease or elimination of Ae. albopictus in houses and dwellings. Furthermore, we also found that both dengue vectors have already occupied the breeding sites in houses and their premises with water container in Jinghong city, and both should be managed during dengue epidemic season. These findings from this study are relevant for dengue vector control programs

    Intelligence of Astronomical Optical Telescope: Present Status and Future Perspectives

    Artificial intelligence technology has been widely used in astronomy, and new artificial intelligence technologies and application scenarios are constantly emerging. There have been a large number of papers reviewing the application of artificial intelligence technology in astronomy. However, relevant articles seldom mention telescope intelligence separately, and it is difficult to understand the current development status and research hotspots of telescope intelligence from these papers. This paper combines the development history of artificial intelligence technology and the difficulties of critical technologies of telescopes, comprehensively introduces the development and research hotspots of telescope intelligence, then conducts statistical analysis on various research directions of telescope intelligence and defines the research directions' merits. All kinds of research directions are evaluated, and the research trend of each telescope's intelligence is pointed out.     Sample Data Synchronization and Harmonic Analysis Algorithm Based on Radial Basis Function Interpolation

    The spectral leakage has a harmful effect on the accuracy of harmonic analysis for asynchronous sampling. This paper proposed a time quasi-synchronous sampling algorithm which is based on radial basis function (RBF) interpolation. Firstly, a fundamental period is evaluated by a zero-crossing technique with fourth-order Newton’s interpolation, and then, the sampling sequence is reproduced by the RBF interpolation. Finally, the harmonic parameters can be calculated by FFT on the synchronization of sampling data. Simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm has high accuracy in measuring distorted and noisy signals. Compared to the local approximation schemes as linear, quadric, and fourth-order Newton interpolations, the RBF is a global approximation method which can acquire more accurate results while the time-consuming is about the same as Newton’s
