    VALUE CO-CREATION WITH CUSTOMERS THROUGH DESIGN TOOLKITS: THE IMPORTANCE OF PREFERENCE FIT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL OWNERSHIP

    The information technologies increasingly enable companies to set up websites for customers to design and purchase their own individualized products. Although customer co-design offer benefits for both suppliers and customers, how to manage the co-design process, especially the central interface features of design toolkit have emerged as a contentious issue among researchers and practitioners. This paper focuses on the effects of both utilitarian and psychological customer-design product value (i.e., perceived preference fit and psychological ownership) on customers’ purchase decision. Based on the self-determination theory, we propose that the effectiveness of the value increment mechanisms is influenced by three leading toolkit characteristics – the reusability of the peer-generated design solutions, design autonomy, and peer feedback, which represent three important stages in the design process, i.e., idea generation, configuration, and outcome evaluation. Laboratory experiment will be carried out to test the hypotheses. This study attempts to extend the self-determination theory to the online co-design context and to explore the value of customer-designed product through psychological ownership. It also intends to suggest pragmatic strategies for companies to improve co-design process and promote their product sale

    In the title compound, [Mg(C12H8N2)2(H2O)2][Cr2O7]·2C12H8N2, the cation and anion are situated on a twofold rotation axis. The MgII ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from coordinated water mol­ecules in a distorted octa­hedral geometry. Inter­molecular O—H⋯N and O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π inter­actions between the aromatic rings [shortest centroid–centroid separation = 3.527 (2) Å] link the cations, anions and 1,10-phenanthroline solvent mol­ecules into a hydrogen-bonded cluster

    Current epidemiological profile and features of visceral leishmaniasis in people's republic of China

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is still an important public health problem in China. In recent years endemic regions spread, prevalence increased, and even an outbreak of the disease occurred in China due to global warming and population movement. It is essential to elucidate the current epidemic situation and epidemiological characteristics of VL for designing control policy. In the present study we describe the current epidemiological profile and characteristics of VL in China based on retrospectively reviewing of VL cases reported between 2005 and 2010 by a passive surveillance system.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The present study was a retrospective review of VL cases notified between 2005 and 2010 based on the passive surveillance data. The data were tabulated, diagrammatized and analyzed through descriptive statistics in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>A total of 2450 VL cases were notified, with a mean of 408 cases per year. 61 counties were identified as endemic area with 2224 autochthonous cases, and the other 118 counties as non-endemic areas with 226 imported cases. 97.71% of cases were concentrated in Xinjiang, Gansu and Sichuan Provinces. 9 major counties reported a mean of > 10 cases per year, with a total of 1759 cases reported. Different types of VL revealed distinct epidemiological characteristics.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The number of VL cases and endemic counties both increased in the period 2005-2010 in China. Different type or sub-type of VL revealed distinct epidemiological characteristics. Therefore, differential control measures must be taken in different endemic areas against incidence increase and endemic area spread.</p

    Interplay of socio-economic and environmental factors in shaping urban plant biodiversity: a comprehensive analysis

    Urban environments are dynamic landscapes shaped by a multitude of factors, including environmental conditions and socio-economic influences. This study systematically investigates how various factors shape urban plant diversity in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China, focusing on 30 key drivers including socio-economic aspects, biophysical conditions, landscape elements, and management practices. Our research methodology involved a comprehensive analysis of these factors’ impact on six types of urban plant species: spontaneous, native spontaneous, exotic spontaneous, cultivated, native cultivated, and exotic cultivated. Conducted in urban areas with varying population densities and landscape features, our sampling approach aimed to understand the species’ distribution patterns. We discovered significant correlations between plant species diversity and specific environmental and socio-economic variables. Our results indicate that spontaneous species are prevalent in densely populated areas with strong social ties, whereas areas rich in tree and shrub cover see fewer such species. Native cultivated species favor more serene, less urbanized landscapes, while exotic cultivated species are predominantly found in economically affluent areas with diverse vegetation. These findings offer valuable insights for urban planning and biodiversity conservation, emphasizing the need for customized greening strategies that align with local environmental and social contexts. By adopting such tailored approaches, urban planners can more effectively manage landscapes, enrich green spaces, and foster biodiverse, sustainable ecosystems. This research not only enhances our understanding of urban plant biodiversity but also lays the groundwork for future studies and policy-making, promoting harmonious integration of diverse plant life within urban settings

    Glesatinib, a c-MET/SMO Dual Inhibitor, Antagonizes P-glycoprotein Mediated Multidrug Resistance in Cancer Cells

    Multidrug resistance (MDR) is one of the leading causes of treatment failure in cancer chemotherapy. One major mechanism of MDR is the overexpressing of ABC transporters, whose inhibitors hold promising potential in antagonizing MDR. Glesatinib is a dual inhibitor of c-Met and SMO that is under phase II clinical trial for non-small cell lung cancer. In this work, we report the reversal effects of glesatinib to P-glycoprotein (P-gp) mediated MDR. Glesatinib can sensitize paclitaxel, doxorubicin, colchicine resistance to P-gp overexpressing KB-C2, SW620/Ad300, and P-gp transfected Hek293/ABCB1 cells, while has no effect to their corresponding parental cells and negative control drug cisplatin. Glesatinib suppressed the efflux function of P-gp to [3H]-paclitaxel and it didn't impact both the expression and cellular localization of P-gp based on Western blot and immunofluorescent analysis. Furthermore, glesatinib can stimulate ATPase in a dose-dependent manner. The docking study indicated that glesatinib interacted with human P-gp through several hydrogen bonds. Taken together, c-Met/SMO inhibitor glesatinib can antagonize P-gp mediated MDR by inhibiting its cell membrane transporting functions, suggesting new application in clinical trials

    Combining primary tumor features derived from conventional and contrast-enhanced ultrasound facilitates the prediction of positive axillary lymph nodes in Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System category 4 malignant breast lesions

    PURPOSETo determine whether the primary tumor features derived from conventional ultrasound (US) and contrast-enhanced US (CEUS) facilitate the prediction of positive axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) in breast cancer diagnosed as Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) category 4.METHODSA total of 240 women with breast cancer who underwent preoperative conventional US, strain elastography, and CEUS between September 2016 and December 2019 were included. The multiple parameters of the primary tumor were obtained, and univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to predict positive ALNs. Then three prediction models (conventional US features, CEUS features, and the combined features) were developed, and the diagnostic performance was evaluated with receiver operating characteristic curves.RESULTSOn conventional US, the traits of large size and the non-circumscribed margin of the primary tumor were marked as two independent predictors. On CEUS, the features of vessel perforation or distortion and the enhanced range of the primary tumor were marked as two independent predictors for positive ALNs. Three prediction models were then developed: model A (conventional US features), model B (CEUS features), and model C (model A plus B). Model C yielded the highest area under the curve (AUC) of 0.82 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.75–0.88] compared with model A (AUC 0.74; 95% CI, 0.68–0.81; P = 0.008) and model B (AUC 0.72; 95% CI, 0.65–0.80; P < 0.001) as per the DeLong test.CONCLUSIONCEUS, as a non-invasive examination technique, can be used to predict ALN metastasis. Combining conventional US and CEUS may produce favorable predictive accuracy for positive ALNs in BI-RADS category 4 breast cancer
