EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAM IN IMPROVING COMMUNITY SENIOR CITIZENS’ GENERAL HEALTH AND HAPPINESS
Intergenerational programs (IGPs) encourage senior citizens tocontinue engaging in social participation, preserving their independence, andenriching their later life. However, IGPs in Taiwan (IGPs-T) are notprevalent and generally more apply between children and senior citizensexist only, which lack in-depth exchanges the senior citizen‘s life experienceand communication the young people. Relevant empirical results regardingthe effectiveness of IGPs activities on community senior citizens‘ health andhappiness are lacking. The objective of this study was to improve the mutualunderstanding and inclusion between community senior citizens and younggenerations, thereby improving the senior citizens‘ physical and mentalhealth functions and happiness.This was a two-group pre and post-test quasi-experimental studydesign and purposive sampling was used to recruit community senior citizensin Taipei City as research participants (N = 118). The experimental group (n= 55) received 90-min IGP-T activities once a week for 8 weeks. The controlgroup (n = 63) received general health services providing by communityhealth nurses in community.The outcomes of the experimental group significant progress in thehappiness (t=2.82, p=.007), and emotional well-being (EWB) (t=4.61,p≦.001) from pre-test to post-test. And the experimental group wassignificantly superior to control group in perceived health status (PHS)(t=3.79, p≦.001), happiness (t=3.82, p≦.001), and emotional well-being(EWB) (t=4.93, p≦.001) at post-test, and achieve a statistically significantdifference
Tendency of spherically imploding plasma liners formed by merging plasma jets to evolve toward spherical symmetry
Three dimensional hydrodynamic simulations have been performed using smoothed
particle hydrodynamics (SPH) in order to study the effects of discrete jets on
the processes of plasma liner formation, implosion on vacuum, and expansion.
The pressure history of the inner portion of the liner was qualitatively and
quantitatively similar from peak compression through the complete stagnation of
the liner among simulation results from two one dimensional
radiationhydrodynamic codes, 3D SPH with a uniform liner, and 3D SPH with 30
discrete plasma jets. Two dimensional slices of the pressure show that the
discrete jet SPH case evolves towards a profile that is almost
indistinguishable from the SPH case with a uniform liner, showing that
non-uniformities due to discrete jets are smeared out by late stages of the
implosion. Liner formation and implosion on vacuum was also shown to be robust
to Rayleigh-Taylor instability growth. Interparticle mixing for a liner
imploding on vacuum was investigated. The mixing rate was very small until

Adducin-1 is essential for mitotic spindle assembly through its interaction with myosin-X
Mitotic spindles are microtubule-based structures, but increasing evidence indicates that filamentous actin (F-actin) and F-actin-based motors are components of these structures. ADD1 (adducin-1) is an actin-binding protein that has been shown to play important roles in the stabilization of the membrane cortical cytoskeleton and cell-cell adhesions. In this study, we show that ADD1 associates with mitotic spindles and is crucial for proper spindle assembly and mitotic progression. Phosphorylation of ADD1 at Ser12 and Ser355 by cyclin-dependent kinase 1 enables ADD1 to bind to myosin-X (Myo10) and therefore to associate with mitotic spindles. ADD1 depletion resulted in distorted, elongated, and multipolar spindles, accompanied by aberrant chromosomal alignment. Remarkably, the mitotic defects caused by ADD1 depletion were rescued by reexpression of ADD1 but not of an ADD1 mutant defective in Myo10 binding. Together, our findings unveil a novel function for ADD1 in mitotic spindle assembly through its interaction with Myo10
On the Miura map between the dispersionless KP and dispersionless modified KP hierarchies
We investigate the Miura map between the dispersionless KP and dispersionless
modified KP hierarchies. We show that the Miura map is canonical with respect
to their bi-Hamiltonian structures. Moreover, inspired by the works of Takasaki
and Takebe, the twistor construction of solution structure for the

Renminbi Internationalisation: Precedents and Implications
While it is commonly assumed that there are no known precedents against which to benchmark the internationalisation of the Renminbi (RMB), this paper argues that the PRCs own development experience provides a useful perspective on the internationalisation debate. In particular it indicates that lessons can be learnt from both the successes and the shortcomings of efforts to internationalise the RMB in the 1970s. During this period state-owned banks in Hong Kong played a central role in mobilising finance for foreign trade. Access to Hong Kong’s developed financial institutions allowed the PRC to maximise receipts from foreign trade as well as minimise the risks of undue swings in capital flows. The paper shows that although China no longer faces foreign exchange scarcity, economic reforms have not yet resolved vulnerabilities in China’s financial institutions and as such Hong Kong’s role in mitigating the risk of undue capital swings remains
Universal scaling functions for bond percolation on planar random and square lattices with multiple percolating clusters
Percolation models with multiple percolating clusters have attracted much
attention in recent years. Here we use Monte Carlo simulations to study bond
percolation on planar random lattices, duals of random
lattices, and square lattices with free and periodic boundary conditions, in
vertical and horizontal directions, respectively, and with various aspect ratio
. We calculate the probability for the appearance of
percolating clusters, the percolating probabilities, , the average
fraction of lattice bonds (sites) in the percolating clusters,
(), and the probability distribution function for the fraction
of lattice bonds (sites), in percolating clusters of subgraphs with
percolating clusters, (). Using a small number of
nonuniversal metric factors, we find that , ,
(), and () for random lattices, duals
of random lattices, and square lattices have the same universal finite-size
scaling functions. We also find that nonuniversal metric factors are

An experimental study on (2) modular symmetry in the quantum Hall system with a small spin-splitting
Magnetic-field-induced phase transitions were studied with a two-dimensional
electron AlGaAs/GaAs system. The temperature-driven flow diagram shows the
features of the (2) modular symmetry, which includes distorted
flowlines and shiftted critical point. The deviation of the critical
conductivities is attributed to a small but resolved spin splitting, which
reduces the symmetry in Landau quantization. [B. P. Dolan, Phys. Rev. B 62,
10278.] Universal scaling is found under the reduction of the modular symmetry.
It is also shown that the Hall conductivity could still be governed by the
scaling law when the semicircle law and the scaling on the longitudinal
