Parenting and child behaviour as predictors of toothbrushing difficulties in young children
Background: Oral disease is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions affecting children. Twice-daily toothbrushing is recommended to promote good oral health; however, a large proportion of Australian families are not meeting this recommendation. Aim: This study aimed to identify important barriers to regular toothbrushing for young children. Design: In this study, 239 parents of 0- to 4-year-old children completed an online survey that investigated child, family, and parent factors associated with child toothbrushing. Hierarchical linear regression was used to identify predictors of toothbrushing frequency in children and perceived difficulty of the task by parents. Results: We found that parent factors, specifically oral health knowledge, were the most significant predictors of toothbrushing frequency. Conversely, parent factors did not contribute significantly to the prediction of perceived difficulty of toothbrushing once family and child factors were taken into account. Oral health knowledge and use of routines were identified as the most important predictors of toothbrushing frequency, whereas resistant child behaviour and household organisation were found to be the most important predictors of perceived difficulty of regular toothbrushing. Conclusions: The findings of the study have implications for behavioural interventions to support parents, as well as directions for future research
Critical Thinking in Nursing Education: Literature Review
The need for critical thinking in nursing has been accentuated in response to the rapidly changing health care environment. Nurses must think critically to provide effective care whilst coping with the expansion in role associated with the complexities of current health care systems. This literature review will present a history of inquiry into critical thinking and research to support the conclusion that critical thinking is necessary not only in the clinical practice setting, but also as an integral component of nursing education programs to promote the development of nurses’ critical thinking abilities. The aims of this paper are: (a) to review the literature on critical thinking; (b) to examine the dimensions of critical thinking; (c) to investigate the various critical thinking strategies for their appropriateness to enhance critical thinking in nurses, and; (d) to examine issues relating to evaluation of critical thinking skills in nursing.</ul

Complications of Radiofrequency Ablation of Hepatic, Pulmonary, and Renal Neoplasms
Percutaneous thermal ablation has emerged as a viable technique for treatment of numerous solid organ malignancies. As the number of these procedures increases, so do the complications that are seen. Most common complications are generally related to bleeding from the target organ during or after the procedure and from thermal injury to adjacent structures. The nature of these injuries depends on the particular organ being treated, therefore it it best to categorize them this way. We will review the more common complications seen following the ablation of tumors in the liver, kidney, and lung, discuss the clinical presentation associated with each, and suggest precautions to help avoid them in the future. Understanding the potential risks associated with this procedure is critical for treatment planning and fundamental for performing these procedures safely
