Multiphoton Coincidence Spectroscopy
We extend the analysis of photon coincidence spectroscopy beyond bichromatic
excitation and two-photon coincidence detection to include multichromatic
excitation and multiphoton coincidence detection. Trichromatic excitation and
three-photon coincidence spectroscopy are studied in detail, and we identify an

Phantom Accretion by Black Holes and the Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics
The accretion of a phantom fluid with non-zero chemical potential by black
holes is discussed with basis on the Generalized Second Law of thermodynamics.
For phantom fluids with positive temperature and negative chemical potential we
demonstrate that the accretion process is possible, and that the condition
guaranteeing the positiveness of the phantom fluid entropy coincides with the
one required by Generalized Second Law. In particular, this result provides a
complementary confirmation that cosmological phantom fluids do not need to have
negative temperatures
Coherent Topological Charge Structure in Models and QCD
In an effort to clarify the significance of the recent observation of
long-range topological charge coherence in QCD gauge configurations, we study
the local topological charge distributions in two-dimensional sigma
models, using the overlap Dirac operator to construct the lattice topological
charge. We find long-range sign coherence of topological charge along extended
one-dimensional structures in two-dimensional spacetime. We discuss the
connection between the long range topological structure found in and
the observed sign coherence along three-dimensional sheets in four-dimensional
QCD gauge configurations. In both cases, coherent regions of topological charge
form along membrane-like surfaces of codimension one. We show that the Monte
Carlo results, for both two-dimensional and four-dimensional gauge theory,
support a view of topological charge fluctuations suggested by Luscher and
Witten. In this framework, the observed membranes are associated with
boundaries between ``k-vacua,'' characterized by an effective local value of
which jumps by across the boundary.Comment: 26 page
Improving the locality of the overlap Dirac operator via approximate solutions of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation
We determine the free field hypercubic Dirac operator which is optimally
close to satisfying the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. Inserting this operator into
the overlap formula, we show that the analytic locality bound on the resulting
overlap Dirac operator is substantially stronger than in the standard case.
This improvement generally persists in gauge backgrounds when the plaquette

Test results of the Chrysler upgraded automotive gas turbine engine: Initial design
The upgraded engine as built to the original design was deficient in power and had excessive specific fuel consumption. A high instrumented version of the engine was tested to identify the sources of the engine problems. Analysis of the data shows the major problems to be low compressor and power turbine efficiency and excessive interstage duct losses. In addition, high HC and CO emission were measured at idle, and high NOx emissions at high energy speeds
