Control of Lesion Nematodes, Pratylenchus spp., in Grapevine Nursery Material by Immersion in Fenamiphos Solutions and Hot Water

    Get PDF
Control of Pratylenchus spp. in dormant grapevine nursery material was attempted using fenamiphos solutions and a hot-water treatment. Five months after treatment, the lesion nematodes were eradicated by all treatments. Although no visual phytotoxicity symptoms were recorded at any stage wiith any of the treatments tested, hot water significantly reduced plant growth of certain scion/rootstock combinations. Treatment with 0,1 % (a.i.) fenamiphos solution for 30 minutes at 25°C is recommended

Fungal discolouration of wood was found associated with galleries of Coryphodema tristis in grapevines. The mean percentage damage caused by larvae and fungal discolouration was 14,8 % and 13,5 % respectively. Twelve fungal species were isolated from the discoloured region. None of these fungi were transmitted from one generation of the insect to the next

Assessing the Control Potential of Aldicarb against Grapevine Phylloxera

Aldicarb 15 G soil treatments in vineyards were evaluated for their phylloxera control potential. A post-harvest application was made on single vines and phylloxera populations on roots were quantified using a washing and sieving technique. Natural population fluctuations on control vines were also determined. Data were subjected to a rank sum statistical test to determine the significance of the findings. Results indicated that aldicarb had a definite suppressing effect on all stages of grapevine phylloxera
