Characterizations of m-EP elements in rings
Let R be a ring with involution. In this paper, we extend the notions of m-EP matrices and m-EP operators to an arbitrary ring case. A number of new characterizations of m-EP elements in rings are presented. In particular, the existence criteria for 1-EP (i.e. EP) elements are obtained by means of the group inverse, Moore-Penrose inverse, and core inverse. Some properties of 2-EP are also given. This research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No.

Reverse Order Law for the Core Inverse in Rings
In this paper, necessary and sufficient conditions of the onesided reverse order law (ab)((sic)) = b((sic))a((sic)) , the two-sided reverse order law (ab)((sic)) = b((sic))a((sic)) and (ba)((sic)) = a((sic))b((sic)) for the core inverse are given in rings with involution. In addition, the mixed-type reverse order laws, such as (ab)((sic)) = b((sic))(abb((sic)))((sic)) , a((sic)) = b(ab)((sic)) and (ab)((sic)) = b((sic)) a((sic)) , are also considered.- This research was supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (No. 2018M632385), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 11771076), the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province (No. BK20141327), the Portuguese Funds through FCT-"Fundacao para a Ciencia e a Tecnologia", within the project UID/MAT/00013/2013
Generalized inverses and their relations with clean decompositions
An element a in a ring R is called clean if it is the sum of an idempotent e and a unit u. Such a clean decomposition a = e + u is said to be strongly clean if eu = ue and special clean if aR eR = (0). In this paper, we prove that a is Drazin invertible if and only if there exists an idempotent e and a unit u such that an = e + u is both a strongly clean decomposition and a special clean decomposition, for some positive integer n. Also, the existence of the Moore-Penrose and group inverses is related to the existence of certain - clean decompositions. This research is supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Anhui Province (No. 1808085QA16), the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (No. JZ2018HGTB0233), China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (No. 2018M632385) and the Portuguese Funds through FCT- ‘Fundação para a

Effects of the combination of loxoprofen sodium and sodium hyaluronate on osteoarthritis and knee function
Purpose: To determine the treatment efficacy of the combination of loxoprofen sodium and sodium hyaluronate in osteoarthritis (OA), and its role in knee joint function.
Methods: 98 patients with OA admitted to Guang'an People's Hospital, Sichuan, China were allocated into control group (CNG, given loxoprofen sodium n, = 51) and study group (SG, given loxoprofen sodium and sodium hyaluronate, n = 47). Both groups were compared in terms of the levels of inflammatory factor, Lysholm, VAS, WOMAC scores, treatment effects, serum MDA, NO, SOD levels, adverse effects, and blood rheology indices.
Results: The study group had higher SOD levels, and higher BALP and BGP than CNG (p < 0.05). SG had lower TRACP-5b and blood rheological indices than CNG (p < 0.05). The difference in the incidence of adverse reactions was not statistically significant between the two groups (p > 0.05).
Conclusion: The combination of loxoprofen sodium and sodium hyaluronate effectively improves the function and blood rheological indices of knee joints. It reduces the occurrence of adverse reactions and the level of pain in patients with OA, and improves OA prognosis. However further clinical trials are required prior to application in clinical practice

Pioglitazone Protects Against Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury via the AMP-Activated Protein Kinase-Regulated Autophagy Pathway
Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a major cause of acute renal failure. Our previous studies have shown that pioglitazone, a peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor (PPAR)-γ agonist used in type 2 diabetes, protects against renal IRI; however, the molecular mechanism underlying the renoprotective effects of pioglitazone is still unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-regulated autophagy in renoprotection by pioglitazone in IRI. To investigate whether pioglitazone protects renal cells from IRI, an in vivo renal IRI model was used. Cell apoptosis in the kidneys was determined by TUNEL staining. Western blotting was used to determine the expression of AMPK, autophagy-related proteins, and caspase-3/8 proteins in the kidneys. In a rat model of IRI, pioglitazone decreased the increased serum creatinine and urea nitrogen, improved renal histological score, and decreased the cell injury. Pioglitazone also increased AMPK phosphorylation, inhibited p62 and cleaved caspase-3/8 proteins, and activated autophagy-related proteins LC3 II and Beclin-1 in the kidneys of IRI rats. Moreover, GW9662, as a selective inhibitor of PPAR-γ, inhibited the protective effects of pioglitazone. These results suggest that pioglitazone exerts its protective effects in renal IRI via activation of an AMPK-regulated autophagy signaling pathway
Synergistic structural and functional alterations in the medial prefrontal cortex of patients with high-grade gliomas infiltrating the thalamus and the basal ganglia
BackgroundHigh-grade gliomas (HGGs) are characterized by a high degree of tissue invasion and uncontrolled cell proliferation, inevitably damaging the thalamus and the basal ganglia. The thalamus exhibits a high level of structural and functional connectivity with the default mode network (DMN). The present study investigated the structural and functional compensation within the DMN in HGGs invading the thalamus along with the basal ganglia (HITBG).MethodsA total of 32 and 22 healthy controls were enrolled, and their demographics and neurocognition (digit span test, DST) were assessed. Of the 32 patients, 18 patients were involved only on the left side, while 15 of them were involved on the right side. This study assessed the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), gray matter (GM) volume, and functional connectivity (FC) within the DMN and compared these measures between patients with left and right HITBG and healthy controls (HCs).ResultThe medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) region existed in synchrony with the significant increase in ALFF and GM volume in patients with left and right HITBG compared with HCs. In addition, patients with left HITBG exhibited elevated ReHo and GM precuneus volumes, which did not overlap with the findings in patients with right HITBG. The patients with left and right HITBG showed decreased GM volume in the contralateral hippocampus without any functional variation. However, no significant difference in FC values was observed in the regions within the DMN. Additionally, the DST scores were significantly lower in patients with HITBG, but there was no significant correlation with functional or GM volume measurements.ConclusionThe observed pattern of synchrony between structure and function was present in the neuroplasticity of the mPFC and the precuneus. However, patients with HITBG may have a limited capacity to affect the connectivity within the regions of the DMN. Furthermore, the contralateral hippocampus in patients with HITBG exhibited atrophy. Thus, preventing damage to these regions may potentially delay the progression of neurological function impairment in patients with HGG
The one-sided inverse along an element in semigroups and rings
The concept of the inverse along an element was introduced by Mary in 2011. Later, Zhu et al. introduced the one-sided inverse along an element. In this paper, we first give a new existence criterion for the one-sided inverse along a product and characterize the existence of Moore–Penrose inverse by means of one-sided invertibility of certain element in a ring. In addition, we show that a∈ S † ⋂ S # if and only if (a∗a)k is invertible along a if and only if (aa∗)k is invertible along a in a ∗ -monoid S, where k is an arbitrary given positive integer. Finally, we prove that the inverse of a along aa ∗ coincides with the core inverse of a under the condition a∈ S { 1 , 4 } in a ∗ -monoid S.FCT - Fuel Cell Technologies Program(CXLX13-072)This research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation
