COMPARATIVE STUDY OF DIFFERENT STRETCHING PROTOCOLS ON FLEXIBILITY AND PASSIVE RESISTANCE OF HAMSTRINGS
This investigation determined the effects of different static stretching protocols on flexibility and passive resistance of the hamstrings. Forty healthy young adults were randomly assigned into one of four groups. The two training groups underwent static stretch training by a four-week and an eight-week protocol, respectively. The other two were control groups. A significant increase in hamstring flexibility was found in both of the two training groups. No difference was found in the amount of range of motion (ROM) gained between the two training groups. An increase in passive resistance was only found in the four-week training group. Both protocols are effective in terms of improving hamstring flexibility. However, if injury is reduced when there is relatively lower passive resistance at end-of-range then the eight week regimen would be recommended

Cholesterol granuloma in the wall of a mandibular dentigerous cyst: a rare case report
Cholesterol granuloma is an inflammatory reaction to cholesterol crystals deposition. It may develop in a variety of
sites including the middle ear, mastoid process or even paranasal sinuses. Very few cases of cholesterol granuloma
occurring in the jaws were reported. This report presents a rare case of cholesterol granuloma that developed in
the wall of a large mandibular dentigerous cyst. The condition was treated with hemimandibulectomy followed by
reconstruction with a free fibular flap
Aspects of the Color Flavor Locking phase of QCD in the Nambu-Jona Lasinio approximation
We study two aspects of the CFL phase of QCD in the NJL approximation. The
first one is the issue of the dependence on \mu of the ultraviolet cutoff in
the gap equation, which is solved allowing a running coupling constant. The
second one is the dependence of the gap on the strange quark mass; using the
high density effective theory we perform an expansion in the parameter
(m_s/\mu)^2 after checking that its numerical validity is very good already at

Broilers fed a low protein diet supplemented with synthetic amino acids maintained growth performance and retained intestinal integrity while reducing nitrogen excretion when raised under poor sanitary conditions
The present study investigated the effects of supplementing a low protein (LP) diet supplemented with key essential amino acids (AA) to broilers on growth performance, intestinal tract function, blood metabolites, and nitrogen excretion when the animals were maintained under various sanitary conditions for 35 D after hatching. Three hundred eighty-four one-day-old male broilers (Ross 308) were randomly allotted to groups that received one of 6 dietary treatments in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement (i.e., 2 environmental conditions and 3 dietary treatments) to give 8 replicates per treatment. Broilers were challenged with 2 environmental conditions (sanitary vs. poor sanitary). The dietary treatments were (1) high protein (HP) diet, (2) LP diet, and (3) LP diet with synthetic key essential AA (LPA): the LP diet was supplemented with synthetic AA up to the required levels for broilers. On day 14, birds consumed the LP diet impaired growth performance compared with those fed the HP diet, while the average daily weight gain-to-feed conversion ratio of birds fed the LPA diet improved to the level of birds fed the HP diet under poor sanitary conditions (P < 0.05). Broilers raised under poor sanitary conditions and fed the LP diet displayed higher (P < 0.05) zonula occludens (ZO-1) expression on day 14 than broilers fed either the HP or LPA diet. Under sanitary conditions, birds fed HP and LPA diets showed higher villus height and crypt depth compared with those of broilers fed the LP diet on day 35. Moreover, broilers raised in the poor sanitary environment had higher (P < 0.05) serum endotoxins than those raised in the sanitary environment. Broilers fed the LPA diet showed reduced (P < 0.05) nitrogen excretion on days 14 and 35 compared with those fed the LP and HP diets independent of the environment. In conclusion, the LPA diet did not impair growth performance under poor sanitary conditions for 14 D after hatch while resulting in lower nitrogen excretion in any environment conditions throughout the experiment
Resonant structure of space-time of early universe
A new fully quantum method describing penetration of packet from internal
well outside with its tunneling through the barrier of arbitrary shape used in
problems of quantum cosmology, is presented. The method allows to determine
amplitudes of wave function, penetrability and reflection relatively the barrier (accuracy of the method: ), coefficient of penetration (i.e. probability of
the packet to penetrate from the internal well outside with its tunneling),
coefficient of oscillations (describing oscillating behavior of the packet
inside the internal well). Using the method, evolution of universe in the
closed Friedmann--Robertson--Walker model with quantization in presence of
positive cosmological constant, radiation and component of generalize Chaplygin
gas is studied. It is established (for the first time): (1) oscillating
dependence of the penetrability on localization of start of the packet; (2)
presence of resonant values of energy of radiation , at which the
coefficient of penetration increases strongly. From analysis of these results
it follows: (1) necessity to introduce initial condition into both
non-stationary, and stationary quantum models; (2) presence of some definite
values for the scale factor , where start of expansion of universe is the
most probable; (3) during expansion of universe in the initial stage its radius
is changed not continuously, but passes consequently through definite discrete
values and tends to continuous spectrum in latter time.Comment: 18 pages, 14 figures, 4 table
Tunnel splitting and quantum phase interference in biaxial ferrimagnetic particles at excited states
The tunneling splitting in biaxial ferrimagnetic particles at excited states
with an explicit calculation of the prefactor of exponent is obtained in terms
of periodic instantons which are responsible for tunneling at excited states
and is shown as a function of magnetic field applied along an arbitrary
direction in the plane of hard and medium axes. Using complex time
path-integral we demonstrate the oscillation of tunnel splitting with respect
to the magnitude and the direction of the magnetic field due to the quantum
phase interference of two tunneling paths of opposite windings . The
oscillation is gradually smeared and in the end the tunnel splitting
monotonously increases with the magnitude of the magnetic field when the
direction of the magnetic field tends to the medium axis. The oscillation
behavior is similar to the recent experimental observation with Fe
molecular clusters. A candidate of possible experiments to observe the effect
of quantum phase interference in the ferrimagnetic particles is proposed.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, acceptted to be pubblished in Physical Review
Synchronization in a System of Globally Coupled Oscillators with Time Delay
We study the synchronization phenomena in a system of globally coupled
oscillators with time delay in the coupling. The self-consistency equations for
the order parameter are derived, which depend explicitly on the amount of
delay. Analysis of these equations reveals that the system in general exhibits
discontinuous transitions in addition to the usual continuous transition,
between the incoherent state and a multitude of coherent states with different
synchronization frequencies. In particular, the phase diagram is obtained on
the plane of the coupling strength and the delay time, and ubiquity of
multistability as well as suppression of the synchronization frequency is
manifested. Numerical simulations are also performed to give consistent
results
Effect of Dynamical SU(2) Gluons to the Gap Equation of Nambu--Jona-Lasinio Model in Constant Background Magnetic Field
In order to estimate the effect of dynamical gluons to chiral condensate, the
gap equation of SU(2) gauged Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model, under a constant
background magnetic field, is investigated up to the two-loop order in 2+1 and
3+1 dimensions. We set up a general formulation allowing both cases of electric
as well as magnetic background field. We rely on the proper time method to
maintain gauge invariance. In 3+1 dimensions chiral symmetry breaking
(SB) is enhanced by gluons even in zero background magnetic field and
becomes much striking as the background field grows larger. In 2+1 dimensions
gluons also enhance SB but whose dependence on the background field is
not simple: dynamical mass is not a monotone function of background field for a
fixed four-fermi coupling.Comment: 20 pages, 5 figure
Magnetic catalysis and anisotropic confinement in QCD
The expressions for dynamical masses of quarks in the chiral limit in QCD in
a strong magnetic field are obtained. A low energy effective action for the
corresponding Nambu-Goldstone bosons is derived and the values of their decay
constants as well as the velocities are calculated. The existence of a
threshold value of the number of colors , dividing the theories with
essentially different dynamics, is established. For the number of colors , an anisotropic dynamics of confinement with the confinement
scale much less than and a rich spectrum of light glueballs is
realized. For of order or larger, a conventional confinement
dynamics takes place. It is found that the threshold value grows
rapidly with the magnetic field [ for ]. In contrast to QCD with a nonzero baryon density, there are no
principal obstacles for checking these results and predictions in lattice
