    Comparison of FGF1 (aFGF) Expression between the Dorsal Motor Nucleus of Vagus and the Hypoglossal Nucleus of Rat

    Neurons in the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus (DMNV) are more severely affected by axonal injury than most other nerves, such as those of the hypoglossal nucleus. However, the mechanism underlying such a response remains unclear. In this study, we compared the expression of fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1), a neurotrophic factor, between the DMNV and the hypoglossal nucleus by RT-PCR and immunohistochemical analyses. RT-PCR showed that the level of FGF1 mRNA expression in the DMNV was lower than that in the hypoglossal nucleus (P<0.01). Immunohistochemistry revealed that FGF1 was localized to neurons. FGF1-positive neurons in large numbers were evenly distributed in the hypoglossal nucleus, whereas FGF1-positive neurons were located in the lateral part of the DMNV. Double immunostaining for FGF1 and choline acetyltransferase demonstrated that 22.7% and 78% of cholinergic neurons were positive for FGF1 in the DMNV and hypoglossal nucleus, respectively. A tracing study with cholera toxin B subunit (CTb) demonstrated that cholinergic neurons sending their axons from the DMNV to the superior laryngeal nerve were FGF1-negative. The results suggest that the low expression of FGF1 in the DMNV is due to severe damage of neurons in the DMNV

    産官学民の特性を活かした新たなファッション都市再生事業の構築/ファッション美術館を拠点としたデザイン教育

    神戸市は、全国に先駆けて「ファッション都市宣言」(1973年)を行い 40年が経過しようとしている。その間、ファッションタウンの建設、地の利を生かした観光やイベントを積極的に推進し、振興の拠点として神戸ファッション美術館(1997年)を開設した。しかし、1990年代以降の世界的不況や阪神・淡路大震災の被害を受け、ファッション産業も低迷の一途を辿っている。兵庫・神戸が抱えるファッション産業の低迷に、デザイン大学がコーディネート役を担い、ファッション美術館の知財を生かした産官学民のネットワークが組めないかと考えた。本研究は、ファッション美術館をファッション都市神戸の知財終結の場と捉え、12年度実施した内容を報告する。Kobe Declaration "fashion city" ahead of 40 years is trying to make progress (1973) across the country. However, the victims of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and global recession since the 1990s, has also steadily sluggish the fashion industry. The construction network of people from industry, government and academia peoples by our university as a responsible for coordination role which utilizing the intellectual property of Fashion Museum was proposed.Here we report the conclusion of the intellectual property field results and captured the role of Kobe City Fashion Museum in 12 years periods

    Abstract Aims/Introduction Hypertriglyceridemia is common in patients with diabetes. Although the fatty acid (FA) composition of triglycerides (TGs) is suggested to be related to the pathology of diabetes and its complications, changes in the fatty acid composition caused by diabetes treatment remain unclear. This study aimed to identify short‐term changes in the fatty acid composition of plasma triglycerides after diabetes treatment. Materials and Methods This study was a sub‐analysis of a prospective observational study of patients with type 2 diabetes aged between 20 and 75 years who were hospitalized to improve glycemic control (n = 31). A lipidomic analysis of plasma samples on the 2nd and 16th hospital days was conducted by supercritical fluid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. Results In total, 104 types of triglycerides with different compositions were identified. Most of them tended to decrease after treatment. In particular, triglycerides with a lower carbon number and fewer double bonds showed a relatively larger reduction. The inclusion of FA 14:0 (myristic acid), as a constituent of triglyceride, was significantly associated with a more than 50%, and statistically significant, reduction (odds ratio 39.0; P < 0.001). The total amount of FA 14:0 as a constituent of triglycerides also decreased significantly, and its rate of decrease was the greatest of all the fatty acid constituents. Conclusions A 2 week comprehensive risk management for diabetes resulted in decreased levels of plasma triglycerides and a change in the fatty acid composition of triglycerides, characterized by a relatively large reduction in FA 14:0 as a constituent of triglycerides
