Slope inequalities for irregular cyclic covering fibrations
Let be a finite cyclic covering fibration of a fibered surface. We
study the lower bound of slope when the relative irregularity
is positive.Comment: 24page
The Simulation of the Inelastic Impact
The coefficient of normal restitution (COR) in an oblique impact is
theoretically studied. Using a two-dimensional lattice models for an elastic
disk and an elastic wall, we investigate the dependency of COR on an incident
angle and demonstrate that COR can exceed one and have a peak against an
incident angle in our simulation. Finally, we explain these phenomena based
upon the phenomenological theory of elasticity.Comment: 2 pages, 3 figures, submitted as the proceedings of the international
conference on slow dynamics in complex systems(Sendai, Nov.3-8, 2003
Comment on "Fluctuation-Driven First-Order Transition in Pauli-Limited -Wave Superconductors"
This is a Comment on a recent Letter (Phys.Rev.Lett.93, 247002 (2004))
written by Dalidovich and Yang. It is pointed out that any Pauli-limited
approach neglecting the vortices is inapplicable to describing the FFLO state
in CeCoIn5.Comment: 1 page, no figure. To appear in Physical Review Letter
Contact and Quasi-Static Impact of a Dissipationless Mechanical Model
Collisions and contacts of elastic materials are numerically and
theoretically investigated. Using a two-dimensional spring-mass model with
defect particles under the free boundary condition, we reproduce the Hertzian
contact theory at equilibrium and the quasi-static theory for low speed
impacts.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, submitted to JPS
