StichwörterTachinidae, Siphonini, Ceromya, species group, taxonomy, Japan.Nomenklatorische Handlungencothurnata Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.glaucescens Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.helvola Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.kurahashii Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.luteola Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.prominula Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.The Japanese species of the genus Ceromya Robineau-Desvoidy are reviewed. Ten species are recognized, eight of which are classified in three species groups: the bicolor group, flaviseta group and silacea group. Two species, C. cothurnata and C. luteola, are treated as incertae sedis. The autapomorphies of these species groups are redefined and characters illustrated: bicolor group - male genitalia: gonopod with lateral edge projected outwardly, flaviseta group - male genitalia: distiphallus in lateral view almost sclerotized, bearing small spinules ventrally, and lateral portion largely membranous, silacea group - male genitalia: distiphallus in lateral view broad, with posterolateral arm, and deeply bifurcated at apex in dorsal view; female terminalia: abdominal sterna 6-7 with minute setulae; first instar larva: labrum sharp and narrow apically. The following six species are described from Japan: C. cothurnata sp. n., C. glaucescens sp. n., C. helvola sp. n., C. kurahashii sp. n., C. luteola sp. n., and C. prominula sp. n. A key to the Japanese species is provided.KeywordsTachinidae, Siphonini, Ceromya, species group, taxonomy, Japan.Nomenclatural Actscothurnata Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.glaucescens Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.helvola Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.kurahashii Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.luteola Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n.prominula Tachi & Shima, 2000 (Ceromya), spec. n

Growing the Rhinophorid tree. Three new species and their phylogenetic implications (Diptera: Rhinophoridae)

    Get PDF
Three new species of Rhinophoridae (Aporeomyia elaphocera sp. nov., Baniassa pennata sp. nov. from the Oriental Region, and Phyto mambilla sp. nov. from the Afrotropical Region) are described, illustrated and compared with congeners. Genus-level aliation of the new species is based on a morphology-based phylogeny, preliminarily accepting a paraphyletic Phyto Robineau-Desvoidy awaiting incorporation of molecular data. Keys to the species of the genus Aporeomyia Pape & Shima as well as to the Afrotropical species of the genus Phyto Robineau-Desvoidy are given

High expression of a novel carnitine palmitoyltransferase I like protein in rat brown adipose tissue and heart: isolation and characterization of its cDNA clone

    Get PDF
AbstractTo characterize energy metabolism in rat brown adipose tissue (BAT), we carried out differential screening of a cDNA library of BAT with a cDNA probe of white adipose tissue (WAT) and isolated one cDNA clone. It contained a single open reading frame of 2,316 bases which encodes a protein of 88.2 kDa. The predicted amino acid sequence showed the highest homology (62.6%) with that of rat carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPTI). The transcript corresponding to this cDNA was found to be abundantly expressed in BAT and heart. Therefore, the isolated clone is concluded to encode a CPTI like protein expressed in BAT and heart
