Deformation and Prefered Orientation of Precipitates in Cold Worked Al-Zn Alloys
Fiber textures of drawn wires of Al-Zn alloys containing precipitates were studied mainly by X-ray methods. In supersaturated solid solution the wire texture was a double fiber texture with [100]and [111]. It was considered that a phase precipitates were rotated with matrix, while they were deformed. And then the matrix containing stable precipitates (Zn) had [100] and [111] textures. The intense spots, corresponding to [111] fiber texture of matrix, in the Debye rings of (002)p and (101)p planes of precipitates were clearly observed. But, on the other hand, spots, corresponding to [100] fiber texture of matrix, shown the prefered orientation of precipitates in (002)p Debye ring were very weak and brodening
Scattering and inverse scattering for nonlinear quantum walks
We study large time behavior of quantum walks (QWs) with self-dependent
(nonlinear) coin. In particular, we show scattering and derive the reproducing
formula for inverse scattering in the weak nonlinear regime. The proof is based
on space-time estimate of (linear) QWs such as dispersive estimates and
Strichartz estimate. Such argument is standard in the study of nonlinear
Schr\"odinger equations and discrete nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations but it
seems to be the first time to be applied to QW.Comment: 18 pages, text overlap with arXiv:1711.0062
Wettability and Supercooling Phenomena of Ga
Surface tension (γ(L)) and contact angle (θ) of gallium related to wettability on Teflon and other substrates (Al(2)O(3), SiO(2), glass, graphite, BN, AI, Ni, As etc.) were investigated. The values of Teflon were 0.70(6)N/m and 158° in pure argon atmosphere, and the ones of other substrates were listed in a table in this text. We were interested especially in the relative values, γ(L)'s, on the substrates as compared with γ(L) on Teflon substrate. Liquid Ga showed spreading wetting on pure Ni metal and adhesional wetting on Al (supposed to be covered by A1(2)O(3)) and on metallic polycrystal As. Surface tension of Ga was remarkably decreased by a kind of oxide contamination
due to oxygen in air. The surface layer coated by the contamination was of amorphous state nearly same as liquid Ga. The amorphous coat caused liquid Ga rather high supercooling of △T~35K. It seems that the contamination layer (oxide fi1m) smeared the crystal nucleation sites on the free surface of liquid G
Treatment Strategy for Recurrent and Refractory Epithelial Ovarian Cancer: Efficacy of High-Dose Chemotherapy with Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
According to population statistics in Japan, approximately 3,800 women die of ovarian cancer annually, and approximately 6,000 are affected by this disease. Ovarian cancer is referred to as a “silent tumor”, since patients have few subjective symptoms and by the time symptoms are observed, the cancer has progressed to Stage III or IV in about half of the patients. The basic treatment for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer is to remove as much of the tumor as possible, and subsequently to perform anticancer therapy using drugs such as cisplatin, carboplatin and paclitaxel, all of which have been shown to be effective for epithelial ovarian cancer. However, the 5-year survival rate in advanced ovarian cancer patients is still only about 20%, and a treatment that leads to long-term survival has yet to be developed. Here, we review the available treatments for ovarian cancer, and present the results of high-dose chemotherapy (HDC) performed in our hospital for recurrent and refractory ovarian cancer
