Heisenberg's uncertainty principle for simultaneous measurement of positive-operator-valued measures
A limitation on simultaneous measurement of two arbitrary positive operator
valued measures is discussed. In general, simultaneous measurement of two
noncommutative observables is only approximately possible. Following Werner's
formulation, we introduce a distance between observables to quantify an
accuracy of measurement. We derive an inequality that relates the achievable
accuracy with noncommutativity between two observables. As a byproduct a
necessary condition for two positive operator valued measures to be
simultaneously measurable is obtained.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure. To appear in Phys. Rev.
Distinguishability Measures and Entropies for General Probabilistic Theories
As a part of the construction of an information theory based on general
probabilistic theories, we propose and investigate the several
distinguishability measures and "entropies" in general probabilistic theories.
As their applications, no-cloning theorems, information-disturbance theorems
are reformulated, and a bound of the accessible informations is discussed in
any general probabilistic theories, not resorting to quantum theory.Comment: 17 pages, 1 figure, Related but independent works (arXiv:0909.4801

changed to "infimum" in the definition of fidelity so that it is more

Stability of vacancies in β-type Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al alloy fabricated via laser powder bed fusion
The structural instability in the β-type titanium alloys could affect the stability of vacancies. The stability of vacancies in a β-type Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al alloy, fabricated via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), was investigated using positron annihilation spectroscopy and first-principles calculations. The observed positron lifetimes were close to the experimental and calculated bulk lifetime of Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al, which indicates that vacancies were not detected in Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al by positron lifetime measurements. Therefore, for the first time, it has been confirmed that quenched-in vacancies are not introduced in the LPBF-manufactured β-type Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al despite the fast cooling rate in LPBF process. This feature is preferable for the structural stability in biomedical and industrial applications. The calculated atomic displacement from the ideal bcc lattice positions decreased in β-type Ti-Mo alloys with increasing Mo concentration, indicating that the bcc structure was stabilized by the added Mo. The calculated vacancy formation energies of Ti atoms in β-type Ti-14.5Mo and Ti-27.0Mo alloys exhibited an increasing trend with an increasing number of neighboring Mo atoms. Mo atoms also increased the migration energies of the neighboring paths of vacancies. The calculated results for Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al suggest that, while the bcc structure was stabilized by the Mo atoms in Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al, the migration and formation energies were still low enough for the diffusion of vacancies.Mizuno M., Sugita K., Do K., et al. The use of desalinated-dried jellyfish and rice bran for controlling weeds and rice yield
To achieve higher rice production, rice-growing countries have used great amounts of synthetic chemical compounds (chemical fertilizers and pesticides) that can have adverse effects on the environment and humans. Organic products and organic farming technologies are friendlier to the environment and more conducive to sustainable agriculture but require different inputs, knowledge and skills. Weed control is one of the major challenges in organic rice cultivation. The present study proposes and tests the use of desalinated-dried jellyfish chips in the development of sustainable rice production. Vast amounts of jellyfishes have been found in the Sea of Japan (Nomura's jellyfish, Nemopilema nomurai Kishinouye) and Japan inland sea areas (Water jelly, Aurelia aurita (Linne)), and jellyfish populationc can have a negative impact on the fishery industry. In this context, the use of jellyfish in organic agriculture has attracted attention. The present study found that the application of desalinated-dried jellyfish (small pieces of jellyfish which are desalinated and dried) mixed in soil before transplanting can effectively control weeds in rice fields and has a nutrient effect because of the high nitrogen content (12-13%). Desalinated-dried jellyfish has potential as an agricultural material that replaces herbicides and chemical fertilizers. It also contributes to environment-friendly rice production. It was found that both desalinated-dried jellyfish and rice bran effectively controlled rice weeds when mixed in the soil before the transplanting. The grain yields of desalinated-dried jellyfish treatments were consistently higher than the corresponding rice bran treatments. The rice yield from the desalinated-dried jellyfish treatments were comparable to the chemical fertilizer treatment.

Potassium salts of N-(thio)phosphorylthioamides can substitute one, two, or three halogen atoms in chlorinated 1,3,5-triazine molecules to give the products of imidothiyl structure. At low temperature, products of incomplete substitution of halogen in the starting 1,3,5-triazines can be obtained
