    Concurrence for multipartite states

    Get PDF
We construct a generalized concurrence for general multipartite states based on local W-class and GHZ-class operators. We explicitly construct the corresponding concurrence for three-partite states. The construction of the concurrence is interesting since it is based on local operators.Comment: 5 page

General pure multipartite entangled states and the Segre variety

In this paper, we construct a measure of entanglement by generalizing the quadric polynomial of the Segre variety for general multipartite states. We give explicit expressions for general pure three-partite and four-partite states. Moreover, we will discuss and compare this measure of entanglement with the generalized concurrence.Comment: 5 page

Background:Clinical training is fundamental part of nursing education program and causes the student to apply the theoretical knowledge in caring for patients. The nature and duties of nursing in community is such a special issue that doubles the sensitivity of coordination between theoretical courses and clinical services. About half of nursing and midwifery training time is spent on clinical training but there are many factors that affect the process of clinical education. Therefore the aim of this study is assessing the problems of clinical training in nursing students in clinical environments in Nursing and Midwifery faculty of Isfahan. Methods:This descriptive analytical study was performed on 75 nursing students in their last term. A two-part questionnaire included questions on demographic information and factors to assess clinical training problems in six major areas of problems: problems related to learner, clinical instructor, clinical environment, patient, educational program and clinical evaluation. Data analysis was performed in SPSS software. Results:After analyzing the data the following results were obtained: most of the problems were related to the clinical instructor 78%, learners 73%, clinical environment 71%, clinical training program 66%, clinical evaluation 60% and patient-related problems 43%. Conclusions:Results of this article showed that there are problems in clinical training in nursing, especially in fields that are related to learner and clinical instructor. Due to the fact that Clinical Education is the fundamental part of clinical training and in this type of training, students in interaction with instructors and the environment, apply the learned concepts in the clinical field, by understanding nursing and midwifery clinical education problems, the planners will be able to design good educational programs to increase the quality of health services to all people. Therefore, to reach this goal there is a need to more assessment and continuous clinical evaluation processes

The effect of sertraline and 8-OH-DPAT on the PTZinduced seizure threshold: Role of the nitrergic system

Purpose Serotonin is a key regulatory neurotransmitter in the CNS which plays an important role in seizure through different receptors, especially the 5HT1A subtype. The role of sertraline through the 5HT1A receptor and nitric oxide interaction on the PTZ-induced seizure threshold was investigated in this study. Method In this study, 70 white male mice were randomly divided into 10 groups including intact control, sham-control and eight experimental groups which received sertraline, 8-OH-DPAT, WAY100635, WAY100635 + sertraline, WAY100635 + 8-OH-DPAT, L-NAME, L-NAME + sertraline and L-NAME + 8-OH-DPAT. After 14 days of treatment in different groups, the PTZ-induced seizure threshold was assessed and the measurement of nitric oxide metabolites in the brain tissue was done with the Greiss method. Results The seizure threshold was significantly increased in the sertraline and 8OH-DPAT receiving groups compared to the sham group (P < 0.001). In the presence of WAY100635, the effect of both sertraline and 8-OH-DPAT in raising the seizure threshold was more prominent (P < 0.001) but on the other hand, in the presence of L-NAME, an increase in the anticonvulsant effect of 8-OH-DPAT was observed, while L-NAME alone had no effect on the seizure threshold (P < 0.001). The NOX concentration was significantly decreased in the 8-OH-DPATtreated group (P < 0.01), while the WAY100657 reversed it and the combination of 8-OH-DPAT with L-NAME reduced the NOX levels (P < 0.001). Conclusions These findings support the anticonvulsant effect of SSRIs and selective 5HT1A receptors, although serotonin receptors other than 5HT1A subtype may be involved and also it is probable that some anticonvulsant effects of the sertraline and 8-OH-DPAT are through the modulation of nitrergic system. © 2016 British Epilepsy Associatio

Statistical Confirmation of a Stellar Upper Mass Limit

We derive the expectation value for the maximum stellar mass (m_max) in an ensemble of N stars, as a function of the IMF upper-mass cutoff (m_up) and N. We statistically demonstrate that the upper IMF of the local massive star census observed thus far in the Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds clearly exhibits a universal upper mass cutoff around 120 - 200 M_sun for a Salpeter IMF, although the result is more ambiguous for a steeper IMF.Comment: PDF, 5 pages, 4 figures.
