    Globalisasi dan pasar bebas ASEAN membawa dampak besar bagi seluruh komponen bangsa Indonesia.Konsekuensi yang tidak bisa dihindari adalah persaingan kualitas sumber daya manusia. Penguasaan akan bahasainternasional, salah satunya bahasa Inggris menjadi satu kunci dalam memenangkan persaingan global. Perguruantinggi melalui Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris memiliki peranan penting dalam mempersiapkan SDM berdayasaing Internasional. Lulusan jurusan tersebut akan menjadi guru yang mengajarkan bahasa Inggris. Dengandemikian, penyesuaian kurikulum dan pembelajaran yang memperhatikan perkembangan global menjadi halpenting.     METODE MIND MAPPING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN PRESENTASI PADA MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN BAHASA INGGRIS FKIP UNIKAL

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pelatihan mind map terhadap keterampilan presentasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa bahasa inggris FKIP UNIKAL yang mempunyai keterampilan motivasi sedang. Dengan adanya pelatihan mind map kepada subjek, diharapkan kemampuan presentasi mereka akan meningkat. Sedain penelitian menggunakan kuasi eksperimen with untreated control group. Ada dua kelompok dalam penelitian ini, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol tanpa adanya perlakuan. Pada kedua kelompok diberikan pre test dan post test keterampilan presentasi. Analisis menggunakan perbandingan mean rank (rata-rata peringkat). Uji Mann whitney digunakan untuk mencari perbedaan antara hasil kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Setelah analisis data, mean rank kelompok eksperimen adalah 12,5, sedang kelompok kontrol 3,5. Uji Mann whitney menghasilkan nilai p 0.001 > 0.005 yang berarti bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok yang diberi pelatihan mind map (eksperimen) dibanding dengan kelompok kontrol.     METAFORA DALAM RAGAM BAHASA PUISI (PENDEKATAN TEORI COGNITIF LINGUISTIK)

    Metaphor is something that is commonly used in poem. The use of metaphor in poem can give the poem a deeper meaning and understanding. Thus, metaphor in poem becomes phenomena which is interesting to be analyzed. From the background above, the writer is interested in analyzing the use of metaphor in poem. The objective of this study is to find out metaphors in poems and interpret the meaning. This study analyzes the meaning of metaphor by using cognitive linguistics approach. The object of the study is poem “Aku” and “Karawang Bekasi” by Chairil Anwar and "Bulu Matamu: Padang Ilalang" by Joko Pinurbo. The technique that the writer used to analyze the data were identifying, associating, interpreting, and concluding. The result showed that there some metaphors found in the poems. The metaphors were used in “Aku” related to the condition of someone who struggle in his life. These metaphors described the condition of someone who always struggle for his better life although he had a lot of problems in his life. The metaphors in “Kerawang Bekasi” related to the effort of someone who had never gave up to get freedom for his country although he had to give his life (died) for his country. This poem described the spirit of nationality. The last is the use of metaphor in “Bulu Matamu: Padang Ilalang”. The metaphors used in the poem represented the beauty of someone’s eyes. The metaphors were used to make the poems more beautiful and interesting. It also gives the meaning beyond the word itself

    Analisis Pengaruh Manajemen Modal Kerja terhadap Profitabilitas Perusahaan Manufaktur Terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (Periode 2011-2015)

    This study aimed to examine purpose to analyze the influence of working capital management by using receivable collection period, inventory conversion period, payable deferral period, cash conversion cycle, and current ratio on company’s profitability. Data used in this study originated from audited annual financial statements of manufacturing companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2011-2015. The samples used are 55 companiess selected by using purposive sampling method. Multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the datas. The result of this study showed that receivable collection period and inventory conversion period have negative and significant impacts on the company’s profitability, whereas payable deferral period, cash conversion cycle, and current ratio have positive and significant impacts on the company’s profitability. Keywords: working capital management, receivable collection period, inventory conversion period, payable deferral period, cash conversion cycle, current ratio ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh manajemen modal kerja yang diukur dengan periode penerimaan piutang,periode konversi persediaan, periode penangguhan utang, siklus konversi kas, dan current ratio terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berasal dari laporan keuangan auditan perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) periode 2011-2015. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 55 perusahaan yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa periode penerimaan piutang dan periode konversi persediaan berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan, sedangkan periode penangguhan utang, siklus konversi kas,dan current ratio berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan.     Improving Literacy Skills of Students with Different Learning Styles Using E-6tslearning

    This research was aimed at describing what learning styles dominate the students' reading and writing abilities and how E-6tslearning improve the the fourth semester students’ reading and writing skills of the English Language Education Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Pekalongan University. The writer used classroom action research (CAR) with 28 students as samples. The writer used planning, acting, observing and reflecting cycles. The writer used questionnaires to determine students’ learning styles and their satisfaction with the use of E-6tslearning and tests to measure their reading and writing skills. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed that there were three learning styles; those were visual, auditory and kinesthetic. From the results of the comparison of pre-test and post-test, students with kinesthetic learning styles experienced the best improvement of all, the visual group was the second one and the auditory group got the lowest achievement. The results of the pre-test and post-test comparison show an improvement in students' skills and motivation. This proves that the use of e-6tslearning can improve students' reading and writing skills. The results of the questionnaire analysis of student satisfaction on the use of e-6tslearning shows that learning by using e-6tslearning, students can improve their reading and writing skills and digital literacy. They can learn with fun with and without lecturer’s assistance

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kebugaran jasmani pada mahasiswa pendidikan kepelatihan olahraga Universitas Negeri Manado. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Ukuran sampel menggunakan sistematic random sampling, sebanyak 30 Mahasiswa. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskrptif dengan prosentase. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan tingkat kebugaran jasmani mahasiswa dalam tiga kategori yaitu kategori baik 14 mahasiswa (46,67%), kategori sedang yaitu 9 mahasiswa (30%) serta serta kategori kurang yaitu 7 mahasiswa (23,33%)

    LECTURES’ PERCEPTION TOWARD THE NEED OF ENGLISH IN MANAGEMENT ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT OF PEKALONGAN UNIVERSITY

    This study aimed to describe the English needs of the Economics Management Study Program of Pekalongan University based on the perception of the English lecturers. The research design of this research was descriptive qualitative. The total sample used was 2 English lecturers in the Economics Management study program. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a measurement scale in the form of numbers. The research data was described through needs, real conditions in the classroom, and the desire of the lecturer. The real conditions of learning in the classroom become a basic guideline for achieving the learning objectives in the target needs. These results were also adjusted to the wishes (Wants). Thus, it could be seen that according to the lecturers 'perception, English was an ability that had to be mastered in order to fulfill the students' self-need to understand the economic context in using English. Moreover, understanding and mastering the material supported students to compete in the world of work. From the lecturers’ perspective, it was known that speaking ability was the most important ability to be owned by students, and the difficulties most often faced by students according to the lecturer was in listening skill

    Pedagogy competence is the main competence that must be owned by educators. Moreover, mastering science and technology are also important for educator to support the pedagogical competence. Based on the result of situation analysis, the data showed that the teaching learning model used by junior high school English teacher in Pekalongan regency was Teacher centered leaning (TCL).  Moreover, it was implemented without adequate technological support. Thus, that kind of learning pattern seemed monotonous and can reduce students’ interest in learning English. The solutions for the problems were : (a) applying cooperative method in learning (b) offering E-Coole (E-Cooperative learning) which is a web-based combination of cooperative learning and E-learning, the application focused on group Investigastion (GI). The stages in this PKM was carried out though several series, those were : (a) socialization, it was intended to introduce and explain PKM program to PKM partner. (b). training to provide definitions and basic concept of E-Coole. (C) mentoring teachers’ activities it was intended to implement E-Coole for grup Investigation, (d) evaluation to measure the abitily of teachers in using E-coole application with grup investigation strategy. The result of this PKM in this article included : (a) an understanding of PKM activities organized by PKM team and subject of PKM, namely the English MGMP Junior High school in Pekalongan regency, (b) PKM participants understood the definitions and basic concept  of E-Coole, (c) the mentoring activities run smoothly in schools with a focus on group investigation strategies (d) there was an increase in the ability of teachers to master and use E-Coole application with Group Investigation strategy. Key words : E-Coole, training and mentoring, Group Investigation strateg
