Impurity Effect on the Local Density of States around a Vortex in Noncentrosymmetric Superconductors
We numerically study the effect of non-magnetic impurities on the vortex
bound states in noncentrosymmetric systems. The local density of states (LDOS)
around a vortex is calculated by means of the quasiclassical Green's function
method. We find that the zero energy peak of the LDOS splits off with
increasing the impurity scattering rate.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures; Proc. of SCES201
Quantum computational universality of hypergraph states with Pauli-X and Z basis measurements
Measurement-based quantum computing is one of the most promising quantum
computing models. Although various universal resource states have been proposed
so far, it was open whether only two Pauli bases are enough for both of
universal measurement-based quantum computing and its verification. In this
paper, we construct a universal hypergraph state that only requires and
-basis measurements for universal measurement-based quantum computing. We
also show that universal measurement-based quantum computing on our hypergraph
state can be verified in polynomial time using only and -basis
measurements. Furthermore, in order to demonstrate an advantage of our
hypergraph state, we construct a verifiable blind quantum computing protocol
that requires only and -basis measurements for the client.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures, 1 table, close to published versio
Gaps In Mental Healthcare Use And Perceived Quality Between Privately Insured Lgb And Heterosexual Individuals In The United States
Previous research has identified significantly heightened levels of mental health issues and psychological distress among lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) individuals in the U.S., as well as greater mental health service utilization among this population. Using a nationally representative sample of privately insured adults in the U.S., we investigate differences in mental healthcare utilization, characteristics of mental healthcare received, and perceived quality of care between LGB and heterosexual individuals. Key results find that privately insured LGB men and women are significantly more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to have used outpatient mental healthcare as well as out-of-network (OON) outpatient mental healthcare in the past year. This study also identifies key gender differences in characteristics of mental healthcare use and perceived quality of care among LGB mental healthcare users. LGB women are significantly more likely than Straight women to have a higher mental health condition severity, used overnight inpatient mental healthcare in the past year, and give a low provider rating for their mental healthcare provider. In contrast, LGB men are significantly more likely than Straight men to have seen 3 or more mental healthcare providers in the past year, but are significantly less likely to indicate that their mental healthcare provider does not spend enough time with them, or give a low provider rating. These findings address a gap in literature on perceived quality of mental healthcare among LGB adults in the U.S., and call particular attention to the need to improve the perceived quality of care for LGB women
Entanglement measures for detectability
We propose new entanglement measures as the detection performance based on
the hypothesis testing setting. We clarify how our measures work for detecting
an entangled state by extending the quantum Sanov theorem. Our analysis covers
the finite-length setting. Exploiting this entanglement measure, we present how
to derive entanglement witness to detect the given entangled state by using the
geometrical structure of this measure. We derive their calculation formulas for
maximally correlated states, and propose their algorithms that work for general
entangled states. In addition, we investigate how our algorithm works for
solving the membership problem for separability
Micronucleus is not a potent inducer of the cGAS/STING pathway
微小核はcGAS自然免疫を活性化しない --定説を覆す成果--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2024-02-08.Sting operation out of gas: Doubts about whether micronuclei activate cGAS-STING pathway. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2024-03-13.Micronuclei (MN) have been associated with the innate immune response. The abrupt rupture of MN membranes results in the accumulation of cGAS, potentially activating STING and downstream interferon-responsive genes. However, direct evidence connecting MN and cGAS activation has been lacking. We have developed the FuVis2 reporter system, which enables the visualization of the cell nucleus carrying a single sister chromatid fusion and, consequently, MN. Using this FuVis2 reporter equipped with cGAS and STING reporters, we rigorously assessed the potency of cGAS activation by MN in individual living cells. Our findings reveal that cGAS localization to membrane-ruptured MN during interphase is infrequent, with cGAS primarily capturing MN during mitosis and remaining bound to cytosolic chromatin. We found that cGAS accumulation during mitosis neither activates STING in the subsequent interphase nor triggers the interferon response. Gamma-ray irradiation activates STING independently of MN formation and cGAS localization to MN. These results suggest that cGAS accumulation in cytosolic MN is not a robust indicator of its activation and that MN are not the primary trigger of the cGAS/STING pathway
Surface Bound States in n-band Systems with Quasiclassical Approach
We discuss the tunneling spectroscopy at a surface in multi-band systems such
as Fe-based superconductors with the use of the quasiclassical approach. We
extend the single-band method by Matsumoto and Shiba [J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 64,
1703 (1995)] into -band systems (). We show that the appearance
condition of the zero-bias conductance peak does not depend on details of the
pair-potential anisotropy, but it depends on details of the normal state
properties in the case of fully-gapped superconductors. The surface density of
states in a two-band superconductor is presented as a simplest application. The
quasiclassical approach enables us to calculate readily the surface-angular
dependence of the tunneling spectroscopy.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures; References and Discussions update
