On the initial value problem for second order scalar fluctuations in Einstein static
We consider fluctuations in a perfect irrotational fluid coupled to gravity
in an Einstein static universe background. We show that the homogeneous linear
perturbations of the scalar and metric fluctuations in the Einstein static
universe must be present if the second order constraint equations are to be
integrable. I.e., the 'linearization stability' constraint forces the presence
of these homogeneous modes. Since these linear homogeneous scalar modes are
well known to be exponentially unstable, the tactic of neglecting these modes
to create a long-lived, almost Einstein universe does not work, even if all
higher order (L 1) modes are dynamically stable.Comment: 8 pages, no figures, changes made to the presentation throughout to

Data Points and Duration for Estimating Fuel Consumption of a Diesel Engine
Accurate measurement of fuel consumption is required to quantify the efficiency of an engine or predict emissions. As part of a larger project, accurate instantaneous fuel consumption data was required for a John Deere 4045T diesel engine. While establishing test criteria, it became evident that literature did not provide clear recommendations on the number of data points or time duration for data collection, for a diesel engine. Fuel consumption tests were conducted using up to 15 data points of percent fuel rate and up to 15 min of data collection. Based on statistical analysis of test results, at least 2 data points (0% and 100% of fuel rate) and 2 min of data collection are recommended for similar fuel-injected, diesel engine fuel rate tests. When a nonfuel injected engine is used, the Hogan et al. (2007) recommendation of at least 3 data points and 3.5 min of data collection should be followed
Determining parameters of the Neugebauer family of vacuum spacetimes in terms of data specified on the symmetry axis
We express the complex potential E and the metrical fields omega and gamma of
all stationary axisymmetric vacuum spacetimes that result from the application
of two successive quadruple-Neugebauer (or two double-Harrison) transformations
to Minkowski space in terms of data specified on the symmetry axis, which are
in turn easily expressed in terms of multipole moments. Moreover, we suggest
how, in future papers, we shall apply our approach to do the same thing for
those vacuum solutions that arise from the application of more than two
successive transformations, and for those electrovac solutions that have axis
data similar to that of the vacuum solutions of the Neugebauer family.

Fully Electrified Neugebauer Spacetimes
Generalizing a method presented in an earlier paper, we express the complex
potentials E and Phi of all stationary axisymmetric electrovac spacetimes that
correspond to axis data of the form E(z,0) = (U-W)/(U+W) , Phi(z,0) = V/(U+W) ,
where U = z^{2} + U_{1} z + U_{2} , V = V_{1} z + V_{2} , W = W_{1} z + W_{2} ,
in terms of the complex parameters U_{1}, V_{1}, W_{1}, U_{2}, V_{2} and W_{2},

Concerns of Custom Harvesters
This study elicited the perceptions and concerns of custom harvesters regarding safety and health issues faced in their operations, self‐perceived knowledge of selected regulations, and self‐perceived ability to train employees on the safe operation of equipment. The average age of custom harvesters\u27 (CH) employees was 22 to 25 years (47.2%). The most common length of the harvest season was 5 to 6 months (70.9%). The most common responses to length of work day were 9 to 11 hours (34.5%) and 12 to 14 hours (54.5%). In general, CH ranked combine operation experience as most important when hiring employees. The CH felt inexperience was the leading contributor to lost‐time incidents. They were most concerned about DOT regulations and Worker\u27s Compensation rules, but also felt they had a good knowledge of those areas
Theoretical Analysis of Resonant Inelastic X-Ray Scattering Spectra in LaMnO3
We analyze the resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) spectra at the K
edge of Mn in the antiferromagnetic insulating manganite LaMnO3. We make use of
the Keldysh-type Green-function formalism, in which the RIXS intensity is
described by a product of an incident-photon-dependent factor and a
density-density correlation function in the 3d states. We calculate the former
factor using the 4p density of states given by an ab initio band structure
calculation and the latter using a multi-orbital tight-binding model. The
ground state of the model Hamiltonian is evaluated within the Hartree-Fock
approximation. Correlation effects are treated within the random phase
approximation (RPA). We obtain the RIXS intensity in a wide range of
energy-loss 2-15 eV. The spectral shape is strongly modified by the RPA
correlation, showing good agreement with the experiments. The
incident-photon-energy dependence also agrees well with the experiments. The
present mechanism that the RIXS spectra arise from band-to-band transitions to
screen the core-hole potential is quite different from the orbiton picture
previously proposed, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the RIXS

Integrable Systems in Stringy Gravity
Static axisymmetric Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton and stationary axisymmetric
Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion (EMDA) theories in four space-time dimensions
are shown to be integrable by means of the inverse scattering transform method.
The proof is based on the coset-space representation of the 4-dim theory in a
space-time admitting a Killing vector field. Hidden symmetry group of the
four-dimensional EMDA theory, unifying T and S string dualities, is shown to be
Sp(2, R) acting transitively on the coset Sp(2, R)/U(2). In the case of
two-parameter Abelian space-time isometry group, the hidden symmetry is the
