Get PDF
This study aimed to investigate and assess the present and potential effects of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning on the world economy. The incorporation of AI in many businesses and its effects on those industries are both covered. The digital revolution has changed how we live our lives, and as a result, the hospitality sector has been impacted. Intelligent technologies are widely used in many facets of contemporary life. The paper\u27s objective was to examine and assess the most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the hospitality sector. Research reveals that in-person customer care, chatbots and messaging apps, machine learning-powered business intelligence tools, virtual reality and augmented reality, and virtual reality are the key deployments. The study examines how prospective clients could influence the hotel industry\u27s decision to implement particular AI technologies. These findings should be used to debate how the hotel business may be encouraged to implement particular AI techniques. AI systems have the potential to advance greatly in the near future. They provide results that, in certain situations, vastly outperform human efforts with extreme preciseness. They do not, however, fully mimic human intellect. The best ways for people and computers to collaborate need to be understood, along with the strengths and limitations of this unique form of intelligence. Even though the rate of development is quick and AI methods like machine learning are not new, the business and accounting industries have not yet widely used AI. In order to facilitate the implementation of AI, industry must attain a thorough grasp of the problems, the practical difficulties, and the abilities needed to engage with intelligent systems in order to create a positive image of the future

Novel hybrid generative adversarial network for synthesizing image from sketch

In the area of sketch-based image retrieval process, there is a potential difference between retrieving the match images from defined dataset and constructing the synthesized image. The former process is quite easier while the latter process requires more faster, accurate, and intellectual decision making by the processor. After reviewing open-end research problems from existing approaches, the proposed scheme introduces a computational framework of hybrid generative adversarial network (GAN) as a solution to address the identified research problem. The model takes the input of query image which is processed by generator module running 3 different deep learning modes of ResNet, MobileNet, and U-Net. The discriminator module processes the input of real images as well as output from generator. With a novel interactive communication between generator and discriminator, the proposed model offers optimal retrieval performance along with an inclusion of optimizer. The study outcome shows significant performance improvement

Background: Acne Vulgaris is chronic inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous units. Oral isotretinoin is recommended for moderate to severe acne vulgaris who are not responding satisfactorily to conventional therapies. Recent reports indicate that acne patients have been benefiting from the low dose treatment protocols. However, long term daily use of this drug results in frequent side effects such mucocutaneous and systemic side effects. Our aim was to assess and compare the various side effects and patient satisfaction of oral isotretinoin in low dose continuous and intermittent treatment of moderate to severe acne vulgaris. Methods: This was a prospective randomized open labeled comparative study carried out at outpatient department in the Department of Dermatology in Mandya Institute of Medical sciences, Mandya. Patients with moderate to severe acne were assigned equally (50 subjects each) to one of the two treatment regimens by using block randomization technique, Group A was given low dose continuous regimen-20 mg oral isotretinoin once daily for 4 months and Group B was given low dose intermittent regimen-20 mg oral isotretinoin once daily for 1 week out of every 4 weeks. The patients were followed up every 4th week during the treatment period. The patients were examined and side effects were noted in each visit. A six month follow-up evaluation was done to analyze patient satisfaction. Results: Muco-cutaneous dryness was most common adverse effect noted in both the groups A and B. Itching (42%), Alopecia (44%), Myalgia (36%) were seen most commonly in group A and Acne flaring (47%) was most common with group B. With regard to patient satisfaction, in group A 42% were satisfied and 20% were very satisfied, in group B 36% were satisfied and 14% were very satisfied. Conclusions: Study suggests that, Muco-cutaneous dryness was most common side effect in both treatment regimens. Side effects were more frequent with low dose continuous than low dose intermittent isotretinoin regimen. Patient satisfaction was better in continuous regimen

A simplified and novel technique to retrieve color images from hand-drawn sketch by human

    Get PDF
With the increasing adoption of human-computer interaction, there is a growing trend of extracting the image through hand-drawn sketches by humans to find out correlated objects from the storage unit. A review of the existing system shows the dominant use of sophisticated and complex mechanisms where the focus is more on accuracy and less on system efficiency. Hence, this proposed system introduces a simplified extraction of the related image using an attribution clustering process and a cost-effective training scheme. The proposed method uses K-means clustering and bag-of-attributes to extract essential information from the sketch. The proposed system also introduces a unique indexing scheme that makes the retrieval process faster and results in retrieving the highest-ranked images. Implemented in MATLAB, the study outcome shows the proposed system offers better accuracy and processing time than the existing feature extraction technique

Background: COVID-19 patients experience cytokine storm which cause pulmonary and extra-pulmonary complications. Effective antiviral and immune boosters are need of hour to treat COVID-19 as well as post COVID complications. Methods: In this study involving mild COVID-19 we randomized 40 patients to receive a Herbovir syrup along with standard of care (SOC) or SOC alone in 1:1 ratio. We evaluated the benefits of Herbovir syrup by assessing clinical outcomes and improvement in immune markers (LDH, CRP, D-dimer).Results: At the end of the study the immune markers in Herbovir group improved significant compared to control group. In patients who received Herbovir, LDH decreased from 334 U/l at baseline to 254 U/l at the end of treatment (p value 75% patients in Herbovir treated group. Conclusions: Herbovir accelerated recovery of COVID-19 patients by early improvement in clinical symptoms and immune markers in this study and results clearly indicates that Herbovir syrup has antiviral, immune booster activity and has definitive role in the management of mild COVID-19 patients along with standard of care. Statistical models to identify significant crop-logging parameters influencing crop-yield across various growth stages in brinjal (Solanum melongena)

    Get PDF
Crop-logging models developed showed that brinjal (Solamun melogena L.) crop yield could be predicted well in advance as early as 26 DAP using three biometrical traits (plant height, plant girth and plant spread north south ) to an extent of 71 %. As the DAP increases prediction of yield could be possible to an extent of 88%. Identification and removal of outliers in data set increased the prediction of models in the range of 31%, 33%, 34 and 8% respectively across four crop growth stages

Inferior alveolar nerve injury with laryngeal mask airway: a case report

    Get PDF

Abstract

Introduction

The incidence of damage to the individual cranial nerves and their branches associated with laryngeal mask airway use is low; there have been case reports of damage to the lingual nerve, hypoglossal nerve and recurrent laryngeal nerve. To the best of our knowledge we present the first reported case of inferior alveolar nerve injury associated with laryngeal mask airway use.

Case presentation

A 35-year-old Caucasian man presented to our facility for elective anterior cruciate ligament repair. He had no background history of any significant medical problems. He opted for general anesthesia over a regional technique. He was induced with fentanyl and propofol and a size 4 laryngeal mask airway was inserted without any problems. His head was in a neutral position during the surgery. After surgery in the recovery room, he complained of numbness in his lower lip. He also developed extensive scabbing of the lower lip on the second day after surgery. The numbness and scabbing started improving after a week, with complete recovery after two weeks.

Conclusion

We report the first case of vascular occlusion and injury to the inferior alveolar nerve, causing scabbing and numbness of the lower lip, resulting from laryngeal mask airway use. This is an original case report mostly of interest for anesthetists who use the laryngeal mask airway in day-to-day practice. Excessive inflation of the laryngeal mask airway cuff could have led to this complication. Despite the low incidence of cranial nerve injury associated with the use of the laryngeal mask airway, vigilant adherence to evidence-based medicine techniques and recommendations from the manufacturer's instructions can prevent such complications.</p
