MeDAL: Medical Abbreviation Disambiguation Dataset for Natural Language Understanding Pretraining

One of the biggest challenges that prohibit the use of many current NLP methods in clinical settings is the availability of public datasets. In this work, we present MeDAL, a large medical text dataset curated for abbreviation disambiguation, designed for natural language understanding pre-training in the medical domain. We pre-trained several models of common architectures on this dataset and empirically showed that such pre-training leads to improved performance and convergence speed when fine-tuning on downstream medical tasks.Comment: EMNLP 2020 Clinical NL

In the molecule of the title compound, C20H25N3O3, the aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 88.36 (3)°. The cyclohexane ring adopts a chair conformation. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N—H⋯O and O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the molecules. C—H⋯π interactions are also present

AbstractObjectiveTo observe the anti-proliferation and radiosensitization effect of chitooligosaccharides (COS) on human lung cancer cell line HepG2.MethodsCCK-8 assay was employed to obtain the inhibition ratio of COS on HepG2 cells at 24 h after treatment. The clonogenic assay was used to analyze the cell viability of RAY group and RAY + COS group with X-ray of 0, 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 Gy, and the cell survival curve was used to analyze the sensitization ratio of COS. Flow cytometry was employed to detect cell cycle and apoptosis rate in control group, RAY group and RAY + COS group after 24 h treatment.ResultsCOS inhibited the proliferation of HepG2 cells, and the inhibition rate positively correlated with the concentration of COS. The cell viability decreased with increasing exposure dose in RAY group and RAY + COS group. The cell viabilities of RAY + COS group were lower than those of RAY group at the dose of 4, 6 and 8 Gy (P < 0.05), and the sensitization ratio of COS was 1.19. There were higher percentage at G2/M phase and apoptosis rate, and lower percentage at S phase in RAY + COS group versus the other two groups (P < 0.01).ConclusionsCOS can inhibit the proliferation of HepG2 cells, and enhance the radiosensitization of HepG2 cells, induce apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest

Secondary Grouting Pressure Limit of Shield Tunnels in Loess Strata Based on Bolt Shear Behavior

A loess stratum was selected as the research object, assuming that the slurry diffuses in a hemispherical shape during secondary grouting. Based on the unified strength theory describing the failure characteristics of loess and the critical condition of bolt shear failure, the critical pressure value of the secondary grouting in loess strata was determined theoretically. The reliability of the theoretical analysis was verified by the numerical modeling realizing the large deformation of formation and the dynamic injection of slurry. The critical grouting pressure of 821.80 kPa of theoretical calculation was obtained. Comparing the results of the numerical simulation analysis, it was found that the critical grouting pressure calculated using the theoretical equation had a safety index of 1.14. Bounded by βu (the ratio of expansion radius RP of soil plastic zone to the expansion radius Ru of the slurry) equal to 2.65, the water pressure at the grouting port is the main factor affecting the upper limit of critical grouting pressure when it is less than 2.65, and the effective internal friction angle of soil layer is the main factor when it is greater than 2.65. The influence of matric suction on the upper limit of the critical grouting pressure can be ignored

Pair Production of Charged Higgs Bosons from Bottom-Quark Fusion

For very large values of tanβ\tan\beta, charged Higgs boson pair production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) from the scattering of two bottom quarks can proceed dominantly. We investigated the cross sections of charged Higgs boson pair production via the subprocess bbˉH+Hb\bar{b} \to H^+H^- at the LHC including the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). We find that the NLO QCD corrections can significantly reduce the dependence of the cross sections on the renormalization and factorization scales.Comment: small changes are mad

The influence of mass-ratio in extreme-mass-ratio inspirals for testing general relativity

The popular waveform templates of extreme-mass-ratio inspirals usually omit the mass-ratio in the conservative dynamics, and employ adiabatic approximation to include the radiation reaction. With the help of effective-one-body dynamics, we investigate the influence of mass-ratio in the conservative part on the gravitational waves. We find that for the extra-relativistic orbits, the mass-ratio can produce obvious orbital dephasing even for very small mass-ratio and then affect the waveforms. More importantly, it is noted that omitting the mass-ratio in waveform templates may induce a fake signal of deviation from general relativity
