Effects of Leadership Styles in Technical and Vocational Students, UTHM
Effective leadership helps our nation through times become a developed country. This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of leadership style among students in Technical and Vocational at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. Descriptive study carried out to evaluate student leadership. The study sample consisted of 319 Technical and Vocational students. We used the questionnaire to identify student's preconceived of leadership. If we wish to develop successful leaders, we need for students to understand leadership styles in order to upgrade their existing abilities. Data were analyzed using frequency, mean and standard deviation. The findings show that articulate the highest in leadership styles that students was practice. Keywords: Leadership styles, effects
APLIKASI PETA PEMIKIRAN I-THINK DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAHIRAN BERFIKIR ARAS TINGGI (KBAT)
Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) is one of the processes or activities in teaching and learning at present. KBAT is the ability to apply the knowledge, skills and values in making of reasoning and reflection for problem solving, decision making, innovative and able to create something. These skill require understanding and mastering teachers to develop them or implement in the teaching and learning of each days. Therefore, the class or the teacher is an agent of change for achieving the Ministry of Education and the Education Development Plan (Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia) to improve the performance of national education. Hence, this study aims to see the change in terms of understanding student achievement, interest and have reflective thinking to enhance higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) among students for the topic ‘The Solar System’ in Science Year 4 and in particular to improve cultivate thinking skills among students to produce students who have creative thinking, critical thinking and innovation. Therefore, this study will discuss the effectiveness of i-think techniques in the context of teaching and learning of science subjects. In addition, this study also looked at the extent to which this application can improve thinking skills, enthusiasm, empathy and reflective thinking of students on these subjects. Samples are also a study population, consisted of 36 students of Year 4 Mars SK St. Francis, Melaka. The data were collected from the respondents using the questionnaires and the achievements of set pre and posttest. The study showed the students achievement has undergone changes towards positive after application map i-Think thinking in teaching and learning. Leadership Styles of Lecturer’s Technical and Vocational in Teaching and Learning
Gaya kepimpinan adalah merupakan cara seseorang pemimpin menggunakan kuasa yang dimiliki sebagai alat untuk mempengaruhi pelajar dan untuk mencapai objektif di bilik darjah dan mempengaruhi pemilihan pendekatan dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Tujuan penyelidikan ini adalah untuk mengkaji gaya kepimpinan pensyarah TVeT di UTHM. Kajian memfokuskan mengenai gaya kepimpinan yang digunakan oleh pensyarah semasa proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Reka bentuk kajian ini adalah secara kuantitatif dan menggunakan Analisis Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 21). Seramai 186 orang pelajar yang terlibat yang dipilih secara rawak. Peratusan, skor min, sisihan piawai digunakan untuk analisis kajian ini. Dapatan kajian ini menunjukkan gaya kepimpinan yang dipilih oleh pelajar adalah gaya kepimpinan demokratik dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Secara keseluruhanya, gaya kepimpinan pensyarah yang berkesan dapat melahirkan pelajar yang cemerlang dan berkualiti. Diharapkan, hasil kajian ini dapat membantu semua pihak terutama pensyarah politeknik dalam memperbaiki gaya kepimpinan yang digunakan semasa proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Engineering Students' Generic Skills After Industrial Training: Employers' Perception
This study aims to examine the employers' perception on the generic skills of the MTU engineering students after their industrial training. The related generic skills in this study are problem-solving skills, leadership skills, communication skills, management skills, entrepreneurial skills, critical thinking skills, decision making skills, teamwork skills and  interpersonal skill. The sample of this study consists of 144 employers from EEE (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) field industries that has been chosen from whole Malaysia using random sampling. The design of the study uses quantitative survey approach specifically descriptive analysis where data analysis is done in the form of mean, frequencies and percentages. (The results show that employers' perceptions on the level for students' leadership skills is at a moderate low of 2.77.On the other hand, the students' communication skills is at a moderate low level of 2.83, management skills at a moderate high level of 3.34, interpersonal skills at a moderate high level of 3.37, problem-solving skills at a moderate high level of 3.70, critical thinking skills at a moderate high level of 3.47, decision-making skills at moderate high of 4.13 and teamwork skills at moderate high of 3.64 and entrepreneurial skills at moderate low of 2.59. ) Referring to the findings that it can help the university to re-evaluate the industry training curriculum to improve the quality of the student's generic skills. Therefore, it is hoped that these research findings can be used by related authorities (Ministry Higher Education and Industry) to improve the students' overall generic skills and consequently produce quality graduates not only in technical skills but also in generic skills. A review of informal learning model for polytechnic student
Informal learning is a form of learning that is applicable beyond the neighborhood of structured learning. The objective in this study is to explore informal learning model in the learning process. Theoretically, five models are implemented which are Holistic Learning Model, Single and Double Loop Learning Model, B-O-R-N Individual Learning Model, Intention and Incidental Learning Model and lastly Informal Learning Introduction Model specifically gain knowledge, skills and competences. The problem occurs to polytechnic student nowadays due to lack of readiness to adapt in organization or group of environments and take longer time to learn something. In addition, grade stress that troubling students in Malaysia especially diploma achiever causes them to imitate. The Informal Learning Models performs guidelines for students in their learning as these models are user friendly, interactive and able to meet student’s need. These models are realized as guidelines that can improve student’s competencies. As an effective impact of implementing informal learning model in education, it can be seen from student reaction and ability to adapt toward changing learning environment whether in workplace or labs. Level Readiness Participant Of Lifelong Learning (LLL) Program Venture Into Entrepreneurship
This study aimed to investigate the perception of Lifelong Learning (LLL) program participants on their readiness to venture into entrepreneurship. Aspects of the level of readiness measured in this study includes; motivation, abilities knowledge and interests of the LLL program participants. The research sample consists of 235 respondents from LLL program participants. The research design was a survey using a quantitative approach that was analyzed using descriptive statistics-specifically frequency counts, percentages and mean. SPSS version 25.0 was used to analyze the data. The instrument used was a questionnaire which had a reliability coefficient of α=0.9, indicating a very high instrument reliability. Findings reveal that the level of readiness of LLL program participants in entrepreneurial knowledge was at moderate level with mean value is 3.6. Meanwhile, readiness level of LLL program participants in terms of entrepreneurial interest was at high level with mean value is 4.1. Readiness in terms of entrepreneurial motivation was at a high level with mean value is 4.2. While readiness in terms of entrepreneurial abilities was moderately high level with mean value is 3.8. Thus, the researchers hope that the results obtained can be exploited by certain parties in order to improve the readiness of lifelong learning program participants in entrepreneurship, thereby producing quality entrepreneurs who can create more jobs to reduce the problem of unemployment in Malaysia
