    The autors present the case of lung mucormycosis. The diagnosis was confirmed by thÄ™ presence of hyphae characteristic of Mucoruca in the sputum specimen and by the growth of fungi in the sputum culture and pus derived from the pleura empyema. On the grounds of the culture morphology the fungus was identified as Absidia caerulea
