On the two-stage hybrid flow shop with dedicated machines
In this paper we develop new elimination rules and discuss several polynomially solvable
cases for the two-stage hybrid flow shop problem with dedicated machines. We also propose
a worst case analysis for several heuristics. Furthermore, we point out and correct
several errors in the paper of Yang [J. Yang, A two-stage hybrid flow shop with dedicated
machines at the first stage. Comput. Oper. Res. 40 (2013) 2836â2843]
A centralized secure plan for detecting and mitigation incidents in hybrid SDN
The information technology sector has experienced phenomenal growth during recent years. To follow this development many new technologies have emerged to satisfy the expectations of businesses and customers, such as Cloud Computing, mobility, virtualization, Internet of things and big data. Traditional network cannot longer support this growth and suffers more and more in terms of misconfiguration, management and configurations complexity. Software defined network (SDN) architectures can be considered as a big revolution in the field of computer networks, because they offer a centralized control on infrastructure, services and the applications deployed which facilitate configuration and management on the network. The implementation of this type of architecture is not obvious and requires great expertise and good handling and management of network equipment. To remedy this problem the SDN architectures have evolved towards distributed and hybrid architectures. Despites the advantages of using SDN, security issues remain a real obstacle in front of the deployment of this type of architecture. The centralized architecture of this type of networks makes it vulnerable to several types of attacks and intrusions, and the implementation of security equipment generally causes a decrease in performance and increase latency

Effects of Zinc Supplementation on Oxidative Stress in Patients Undergoing Maintenance Hemodialysis
Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of Zn supplementation on oxidative stress by evaluating changes in serum Copper (Cu) to Zinc (Zn) ratio, homocysteine (hCys), Glutathione (GSH), Total Bilirubin (TB) and Catalase (CAT) activity in hemodialysis patients. Methods: Seventy-seven HD patients were enrolled in a multicenter simple-blind randomized clinical trial. Only 37 HD patients completed the study. They were randomly divided into two groups and supplemented with zinc sulfate (n = 17) or placebo (n = 20) for two months. Serum Zn and Cu were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Serum hCys was measured by immunology method, serum GSH and CAT activity were assessed by spectrophotometry method and TB was measured by colorimetric method. Determinations were performed before and after supplementation.Findings: After zinc supplementation, serum Zn, serum GSH, and Serum Total Bilirubin (STB) significantly increased. Serum Cu to Zn ratio, serum hCys, and CAT activity significantly decreased in the Zn Zn-supplemented group. Conclusion: Zinc supplementation increased serum antioxidant factors such as Zn, GSH, and bilirubin and decreased serum oxidative factors such as copper to zinc ratio, hCys, and decreased CAT activity. The study results suggest that zinc supplementation may be a useful tool for the improvement of oxidative stress in HD patients
Disseminated cryptococcosis as a complication of lupus nephritis
Cryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic fungal infection affects predominately the central nervous system in HIV patients and patients with other immunocompromised states. It has rarely been described in immunocompetent patients. It is a serious infection with a high of mortality rate. We describe a case of a 48-year-old patient diagnosed with lupus nephritis treated with corticosteroids and mycophenolate mofetil who developed central nervous cryptococcosis complicated by septicemia. She died despite the use of antifungals. Cryptococcal infection is an uncommon, but often a fatal complication of systemic lupus erythematosus. Timely diagnosis and effective antifungal therapy could improve its prognosis
